I blame the mayor’: residents fume at de Blasio, AOC over flood Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez gave Mayor Bill de Blasio a pass for failing to warn New Yorkers about the fatal storm that lashed the city last week — preferring to pin the blame on climate change — but her Queens constituents slammed Hizzoner and other city officials for their lack of preparedness. “I don’t blame climate change, I blame the mayor,” Danette Rivera, 47, told The Post outside her Woodside home Monday morning after de Blasio, AOC, Sen. Charles Schumer and FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell toured her block.

BLIN – Boeing faces a standoff with one of its biggest customers after Ireland’s Ryanair said it had ended talks over a purchase of 737 MAX 10 jets worth tens of billions of dollars due to differences over price. The rare decision to go public over big-ticket airplane negotiations comes after months of wrangling that had already delayed a deal for the largest version of the 737 MAX when Ryanair re-ordered a smaller model in December. A large new Ryanair order would provide a boost to the U.S. plane maker as it rebuilds confidence in the MAX, grounded for 20...

I visited an old friend over the weekend. We had not talked for far too long a time. He gave me some sound advice–it was about me. We were discussing someone who was a mutual friend, and who’d wronged me. Even though I knew it was wrong to carry resentment towards my former friend for what he had done, nevertheless, I have been unable to completely shake that resentment. In a nutshell, my friend told me something I thought I already knew–that even if my former friend was 100% wrong–I AM WRONG FOR CONTINUING TO RESENT HIM FOR IT! That...

A number of mainstream media figures and outlets appear to have been fooled by a false story that some Oklahoma hospitals were overwhelmed with patients having overdosed on the drug ivermectin, a parasite-fighting medication that can also be sold over the counter as a veterinary drug. The story, which was originally reported at Oklahoma's KFOR-TV news, quoted testimony from Dr. Jason McElyea claiming that hospitals in a rural part of Oklahoma were being overrun with patients overdosing on the drug, causing gunshot victims to having to wait to be treated. It was later deemed false after the Northeastern Hospital System...

The state of Texas could soon feel economic backlash in response to its recently enacted new abortion laws, which are the strictest in the U.S. The city council of Portland, Oregon, is set to vote Wednesday on whether to ban future travel and trading of goods and services with Texas in protest of the legislation, The Hill reports. Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler said in a statement last week: “The ban will be in effect until the state of Texas withdraws its unconstitutional ban on abortion or until it is overturned in court.”

The wife of a hospitalized and intubated COVID-19 patient cannot force UC West Chester Hospital to continue treating her husband with ivermectin, an anti-parasitic medication with no proven effectiveness against the novel coronavirus, a judge ruled Monday morning. “While this court is sympathetic to the plaintiff and understands the idea of wanting to do anything to help her loved one, public policy should not and does not support allowing a physician to ‘try’ any type of treatment on human beings,” wrote Judge Michael Oster in his ruling. Julie Smith, whose husband Jeff Smith has been hospitalized in intensive care since...

When they found Salomon, he was laying on a machine...

Reimagining Redemption: From Vatican II to Francis and BeyondTwo councils, over four hundred years apart, set forth profoundly different interpretations of the role of Jesus Christ’s earthly mission. Can you identify the two councils based on the passages below?Council A“Whereby it came to pass that the heavenly Father, ‘the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort,’ when that ‘blessed fullness of time’ was come sent to men Christ Jesus, His Son, who had been announced and promised, both before the Law and at the time of the Law to many holy Fathers, that He might both redeem the...

Attorney General Merrick Garland said the Justice Department would 'protect those seeking to obtain or provide reproductive health services' under a federal law known as the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act. Garland said in a statement that federal prosecutors are still urgently exploring options to challenge the Texas law.

A major maritime industry association on Monday backed plans for a global surcharge on carbon emissions from shipping to help fund the sector’s shift toward climate-friendly fuels. The International Chamber of Shipping said it’s proposing to the United Nations that all vessels trading globally above a certain size should pay a set amount per metric ton of carbon dioxide they emit. Environmental groups welcomed the proposal to the the International Maritime Organization, a U.N. body, but cautioned that it doesn’t specify what carbon price would be supported by the group, which represents commercial shipowners and operators covering over 80% of...

Former Gov. Terry McAuliffe, the Democratic candidate for Virginia governor, sharply criticized Republican opponent Glenn Youngkin, saying that "like Trump, he refuses to support vaccine and mask mandates. He wants to preserve the right of people to decide for themselves whether to wear a mask or get vaccinated." Youngkin didn't deny McAuliffe's accusations, saying "I personally am vaccinated. I recommend that others get vaccinated. But I draw the line at ordering people to take a medicine that they don't want to take. One of things that makes America great is the freedom to choose. It is the job of every...

It is hard to overstate the sociopathy of US national security officials: their casual willingness to blatantly lie about the gravest matters is limitless. Ever since Edward Snowden received asylum from Russia in 2013, Obama officials have repeatedly maligned his motives and patriotism by citing his "choice” to take up residence there. It has long been clear that this narrative was a lie: Snowden, after meeting with journalists in Hong Kong, intended only to transit through Moscow and then Havana on his way to seek asylum in Latin America. He was purposely prevented from leaving Russia — trapped in the...

CHATHAM, Mass. (AP) — There’s no ominous music, no telltale fin breaking the surface as the powerful silhouette of a great white shark glides alongside the small tour boat off Cape Cod in Massachusetts. Michael Simard crouches low and points a finger in the direction of the roughly 10-foot (3-meter) predator cruising in the glassy water below. The 48-year-old construction foreman from Cambridge, Massachusetts, glances back at his partner, Penny Antonoglou, who dutifully pulls out her smartphone while he holds the pose. Smile. Click. “It’s awe-inspiring, really,” Simard said after the tour, where they spotted at least six great whites....
