Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) questioned the wisdom of a push by congressional Democrats to enact legislation in the immediate aftermath of a tragic shooting in Boulder, CO earlier this week. Kennedy suggested Democrats were using this moment to enact gun control because he did not think they believed in the Second Amendment as interpreted by the federal government.

Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) says he will discuss the Senate’s plan for addressing gun violence with Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) and other colleagues in the wake of mass shootings in Boulder and Atlanta. Schumer says his preference is to focus on legislation to expand background checks for gun sales, though he isn’t ruling out additional legislation to limit the sale of high-capacity magazines and assault-style weapons. The Democratic leader also declined to say whether Republican opposition to gun control legislation would make his caucus more likely to eliminate the Senate’s filibuster rule, which requires that legislation have 60...

Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) said Tuesday on CNN’s “OutFront” that Republican lawmakers were “complicit” in all the mass shootings that take place in the United States, given their opposition to gun legislation. Blumenthal said, “In Boulder, that shooter is a deeply disturbed man who became a mass killer because he had an assault weapon that can kill people with the efficiency and speed meant for the battlefield. So guns make all these problems more fatally and deadly, especially for domestic violence victims who then can be killed, five times more likely to be killed in those situations. That’s why we...

Three-month-old babies should be taught about implicit bias and racial stereotypes, according to a series of experts quoted in The Washington Post. In a much-mocked article last week, entitled 'Social justice for toddlers', parents were given a list of books, websites, YouTube channels and companies offering 'woke' material for babies and young children. 'Children develop implicit bias as early as three months old, and at four years old are categorizing and developing stereotypes,' one expert told author Natalie Jesionka, a Dalla Lana Global Journalism Fellow at the University of Toronto.

[ransomnote: The article below describes evidence (not yet certified by peer review) that SARS-CoV-2 RNAs (viruses) can be reverse transcribed. Note that "reverse" here points to the fact that DNA normally transcribes (codes) RNA, not the other way around.] COVID-19 News: A new study by researchers from Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research-Cambridge, Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering-Harvard University, Department of Biology-Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences-Harvard University have alarmingly discovered that the SARS-CoV-2 RNA is reverse-transcribed and integrated into the human genome. SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — The mayor of Oakland, California, on Tuesday announced a privately funded program that will give low-income families of color $500 per month with no rules on how they can spend it. Oakland's project is significant because it is one of the largest efforts in the U.S. so far, targeting up to 600 families. And it is the first program to limit participation strictly to Black, Indigenous and people of color communities. The reason: White households in Oakland on average make about three times as much annually than black households, according to the Oakland Equity Index. It's...

As I watched the Senate hearing on gun control this week, I cringed at some of the gun control proposals promoted in the name of public safety. Many people want to “do something” to stop what some call “gun violence.” I call it violence because I realize that violence is a behavior, not an object. Guns are used every single day in the United States to protect innocent lives. It is a point often overlooked by gun control proponents who choose to ignore justifiable defensive use of guns to protect innocent lives. I am a victim of a violent crime...

The large reduction in the teen abortion rate is partly the result of a higher percentage of pregnant teenagers choosing life for their preborn children. According to these new statistics, the percentage of pregnancies carried to term by women ages 15 to 19 between 1980 and 2017 increased by more than 10 percent. An even more important reason for the drop in the teen abortion rate is that teenagers are now much less likely to become pregnant in the first place. According to Guttmacher, the teen pregnancy rate peaked in 1990 at 117.6 pregnancies per thousand teenaged females (girls 15...

If you’re gearing up to get your COVID-19 vaccine, maybe keep your schedule light for the day after your second shot — or only shot, if you’re getting the Johnson and Johnson variety. Some people feel muscle aches, pains or just flat-out exhaustion afterward, side effects that other vaccines prompt in people, too. “These are not unexpected,” says Carlos Malvestutto, an infectious disease physician at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. “We see them to a higher or lesser extent with pretty much every vaccine.” And while who feels what symptoms and when might surprise some people, the way the...

Democrat President Joe Biden is reportedly “under investigation” for halting billions of dollars in payments that were set to go out to companies that were tasked with finishing President Donald Trump’s southern border wall. “Now the Government Accountability Office is launching a review to determine whether the new president broke the law by freezing the money in violation of budget rules designed to keep Congress in control of the cash flow,” Politico reported. “The probe highlights the challenge presidents have historically faced in fulfilling campaign promises that require money to be spent — or suspended — at odds with Congress’...

South Carolina Republican threatens to shut down Senate if denied access to border facilities ----- A fuming Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., railed against President Joe Biden and his administration's role in the crisis at the southern border Tuesday, suggesting the White House is gaslighting the public into believing the U.S.-Mexico frontier is secure. Graham joined "Hannity" to praise Fox News contributor Sara Carter's exclusive report about conditions in migrant holding facilities. "If this is proven to be true and I have no doubt it is," Graham said, "all I can say -- let me tell you this, [migrant holding] POD...
