...But here’s the thing: there’s no evidence of lockdowns working. If strict lockdowns actually saved lives, I would be all for them, even if they had large economic costs. But, put simply, the scientific and medical case for strict lockdowns is paper-thin. Before I can explain exactly why lockdowns don’t work, we need to define what “lockdowns” are and, especially, what they are not. I define lockdowns as having three characteristics. First, people are ordered to stay at home or required to provide a reason for movement outside of home. Second, assemblies are limited to a very small (usually single-digit)...

Dear Attorney General Barr, Former HPSCI Chairman, and current HPSCI ranking member, Devin Nunes appears on Fox News with Maria Bartiromo to discuss several matters of importance. One of the critical topics touched is the ongoing investigations of Obama era intelligence and political surveillance via the DOJ-NSD FBI, CIA, DNI and State Dept. Representative Nunes hits the key point when he highlights current redactions and current decisions to classify ongoing investigative documents. It is critically important to accept this reality. There are current intelligence officers and career officials in place hiding material by labeling evidence as classified. A recent example...

CIVIC PLAZA - A small group of protesters demanding the reopening of New Mexico’s economy gathered at Civic Plaza Friday while the death toll from the coronavirus in New Mexico continues to mount. The demonstration - organized locally on Facebook by longshot Republican congressional candidate Brett Kokinadis and a group called “NM Freedom Rally - Operation Gridlock NM” - mirrored other anti-quarantine protests held in Santa Fe and across the country in recent weeks calling for the softening of social distancing restrictions amid the coronavirus pandemic. While the small nationwide protests continue to make headlines and grab attention online, their...

Goodbye American Information Technology Worker After serving four years in the Army I took advantage of my VA benefits enrolling at DeVry University of Chicago to obtain a degree in Computer Science. I started my career in Information Technology (IT) in 1986. I saw this as a field that would pay the salary needed to support my young family. I was correct in that I was able to find employment immediately after graduation with a company in Chicago and I have been fortunate to work in this field for the past 31 years providing for my family. Today I find...

Tony Evers' safer at home order extension. The protest at the State Capitol in Madison about 1,500 of opponents of the order extension. "The rally held at the Wisconsin State Capitol (Friday) by individuals protesting the governor’s ‘Safer at Home’ order was clearly an exercise in white privilege," Myers' statement said. Moore comes at the issue from a far-left perspective: Michael Moore presents Planet of the Humans, a documentary that dares to say what no one else will this Earth Day — that we are losing the battle to stop climate change on planet earth because we are following leaders who have taken us down the wrong road — selling out the green movement to wealthy interests and corporate America. This film is the wake-up call to the reality we are afraid to face: that in the midst of a human-caused extinction event, the environmental movement’s answer is to push for...

[Catholic Caucus] “To Be Or Not To Be.” The Capital Question of Masses on TV The discussion had been germinating for some time. But the April 12 homily in which Pope Francis “retracted” his concession for the television broadcast of his morning Masses at Santa Marta has brought it into the light of day.In that homily, the pope said that “this is not the Church” if it decays from the real to the virtual. It is a “gnostic” Church with no more people or sacraments. There is something contradictory in this "j'accuse" of Francis delivered precisely during one of his televised...

60 Starlink satellites that were launched by SpaceX last Wednesday will be passing over Utah Sunday night. The set of satellites are jokingly referred to as a train, beginning with Starlink 1322, which will rise in the northwest at about 9:35 and under the bucket of the Big Dipper just before 9:39. The other 59 “cars” of the train – including “caboose” Starlink 1379 – will follow the same path and fade from view around 9:54. Similarly to other satellites, the train will look like a series of tiny dots of light moving slowly across the sky.

**SNIP** The sketch, played by actress Cecily Strong, shows Whitmer in a wooded back yard as she sits on a porch. The skit begins with "Whitmer" saying that governors are having a moment due to the impact of the coronavirus on states. She references when President Trump called her "that woman from Michigan." The parody mentions the recent protests at the state capitol against the stay-at-home order. "Look people. It's 'Live Free or Die,' not 'Live Free and Die,'" the Whitmer double said. The sketch even poked fun at Michigan nature. "We're not out of the woods. We never will...

Rudy Giuliani questioned Dr. Anthony Fauci's involvement in grants from the United States to a laboratory in Wuhan, China, that has been tied to the coronavirus pandemic. According to a report, the U.S. Intelligence Community has growing confidence that the current coronavirus strain may have accidentally escaped from the Wuhan Institute of Virology rather than from a wildlife market, as the Chinese Communist Party first claimed. During a Sunday interview on The Cats Roundtable, Giuliani questioned why the U.S. gave money to the lab. "Back in 2014, the Obama administration prohibited the U.S. from giving money to any laboratory, including...

A woman who was one of the first people injected as part of human trials for a coronavirus vaccine has said she is ‘doing fine’ after fake reports of her death. An online article claimed microbiologist Elisa Granato, who took part in the UK trial in Oxford on Thursday, had died following complications when taking the vaccine. The Government later said the story is ‘completely untrue’, and warned people about sharing unsubstantiated claims online. Following the article about her ‘death’, Dr Granato tweeted about the news before making her Twitter account private. She wrote: ‘Nothing like waking up to a...

Liberal journalist Hendrik Hertzberg courted controversy Sunday by bashing President Trump and openly questioning in a tweet: “Time for a military coup?” After a request for comment, the left-wing New Yorker magazine reporter weakly attempted to defend himself in a tweet, claiming he was being “sarcastic.” Hertzberg, a longtime political commentator and staff writer at the New Yorker, was a conscientious objector during the Vietnam War and later served as then-President Jimmy Carter’s chief White House speechwriter. Over three hours after his initial tweet made waves, Hertzberg followed up by tweeting: “As somebody or other once said, I was being...

When Atascadero resident Fay Johnson’s neighbor called the county to file a complaint about her eight family members gathering for Easter dinner, she said the shelter-at-home order had gone too far. “If that sheriff had come down my driveway and told me to disperse my party, they would have had to arrest me because I was not going to do that. I did everything I could to keep everybody safe,” Johnson said. “It’s just gone too far.” On Sunday morning, she joined the 10 to 15 adults and children who gathered in downtown San Luis Obispo to protest the shelter-at-home...

As oil prices have plummeted to levels never before seen, a rift has opened among the companies that extract crude. Some of them say state regulators should force producers to pump less in the hopes such regulation will raise prices. Others say no, just let the market do its job. While Texas, an oil-producing behemoth, is weighing the controversial idea of imposing limits, New Mexico, now an oil powerhouse in its own right, has largely stayed out of that debate. Depending where oil prices go and what other states decide to do, there may come a point when the state...

...he Aztecs, as is well known, practiced human sacrifice. They placed their victims on a sort of altar atop a temple, sliced open their chests, and extracted their still-beating hearts. Hard cheese on the slicees, of course, but at least they died in the knowledge that their sacrifice was in a good cause. For the Aztec priests did not perform this grisly ritual wantonly. They did it in order to appease the sun god Huitzilopochtli who was constantly at war with darkness. If they omitted the ritual, the darkness would extinguish the sun. How did they know? Simple. They performed...

Sweden's ambassador to the U.S. believes the country's controversial strategy of pursuing "herd immunity" — and not locking down the country — is bearing success, with the capital Stockholm on course to reach herd immunity in the next few weeks. "About 30% of people in Stockholm have reached a level of immunity," Karin Ulrika Olofsdotter told NPR. "We could reach herd immunity in the capital as early as next month." Herd immunity means the majority of a given population has become immune to an infectious disease by either recovering from it or through vaccination. Some researchers have put the threshold...
