A Pennsylvania family is pleading with their school board to reconsider its policy on "threat assessments" for students, after their 6-year-old daughter with Down Syndrome was reported to police for pointing her finger like a gun. Margot Gaines, a kindergartener at the Valley Forge Elementary School in Tredyffrin, Pennsylvania, made the gesture in November and told her teacher, "I shoot you," according to her mother, Maggie. Pope Francis has ruled against ordaining married men in the Amazon region as a means of addressing the shortage of Catholic priests. Bishops backed the measure last year, but the decision needed the Pope's approval to be implemented. Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam proposed a $1 million investment Monday to implement a program to train STEM teachers at the state’s two public historically black colleges and universities. Ernst Volgenau, founder of the research management firm SRA International, has pledged an additional $2.5 million. “The demand for STEM education is growing rapidly and we must ensure that students of color, students form lower-income school divisions and students in other under-represented populations are not left behind,” Northam said in the announcement.

A Florida man no longer faces criminal charges because his online skit about Donald Trump appeared to be “more of a rant by an idiot” than someone intent on harming the president, according to a prosecutor’s memo obtained by the South Florida Sun Sentinel.
