Yesterday, Karen wrote about the contrast between the statements made by President Trump and Greta Thunberg at the World Economic Forum in Davos. The NY Times has published Thunberg’s full remarks at the forum and they are pretty striking. In addition to her usual tone of condescension toward world leaders, Thunberg explained that the only solution was to completely abandon fossil fuels immediately. She doesn’t want to talk about “net zero” emissions she wants to see “real zero” right now. One year ago I came to Davos and told you that our house is on fire. I said I...

XCLUSIVE: The attorneys general of 21 states have come forward with a blistering rebuke of the impeachment of President Trump, asserting that it "establishes a dangerous historical precedent." The Republican attorneys general, in a letter submitted to the Senate Wednesday morning and obtained by Fox News, urged the chamber conducting Trump's trial to "reject" the impeachment articles. "If not expressly repudiated by the Senate, the theories animating both Articles will set a precedent that is entirely contrary to the Framers' design and ruinous to the most important governmental structure protections contained in our Constitution: the separation of powers," they wrote....

MSNBC's Chris Matthews referred to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) as "Bugs Bunny" during the network's live coverage of the Senate impeachment trial. The "Hardball" host said the Kentucky senator "always gets away" with something he did wrong. “If the Bugs Bunny, I call him, of this business, the clever Mitch McConnell, who is so much a Bugs Bunny character, he always gets away with it," Matthews said. "And we know he got away with something that he did wrong, just like Bugs Bunny.” The Senate early Wednesday morning approved a rules resolution for the impeachment trial that largely...

Pat Cipollone is the White House counsel leading the defense of President Donald Trump in the impeachment trial in the Senate. Cipollone, who has been a licensed attorney for nearly 30 years, went to work for the Trump administration in December of 2018. But Cipollone was within the president’s orbit before then. He served as an informal advisor for the White House during the Russia investigation. Cipollone also assisted the Trump campaign with debate prep during the 2016 election

The watchdog group Common Cause filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission on Wednesday, alleging that Our Revolution, a political nonprofit organization founded by Bernie Sanders, violated campaign finance law by accepting donations in excess of federal limits while boosting his White House ambitions. The complaint comes after The Associated Press reported earlier this month about the donations. Our Revolution has denied any wrongdoing. A spokesman declined to comment. Sanders’ campaign also did not respond to a request for comment. The campaign finance act says groups established by federal officeholders or candidates cannot raise money for federal electoral activity...

WASHINGTON, D.C., January 22, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – U.S. President Donald J. Trump has declared January 22, the anniversary of the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision imposing abortion on demand across the country, to be “National Sanctity of Human Life Day.” In a proclamation issued yesterday, Trump declared that “every person — the born and unborn, the poor, the downcast, the disabled, the infirm, and the elderly — has inherent value” and said that the U.S. “proudly and strongly reaffirms our commitment to protect the precious gift of life at every stage, from conception to natural death.” He touted his administration’s...

The Chinese government has quarantined the city of Wuhan and plans to shut down the airport and public transportation within hours amid an outbreak of the coronavirus, according to reports on the country’s social networks. The virus has been linked to at least 17 deaths and has sickened over 500 others. Other countries' health agencies and governing bodies have issued warnings to travelers including the U.K., which advised against "all but essential travel" to Wuhan, which is where the virus was first detected. Several countries have implemented enhanced screening measures at airports for flights arriving from the Wuhan region as...

The pro-gun masses had their day at the Virginia Capitol Monday. But mathematical reality quickly set in Tuesday morning as a Democratic-led House of Delegates panel easily dispatched nearly a dozen Republican-sponsored gun bills. The proposals would have made it easier to carry guns in places of worship, allowed concealed carry without a permit, limited gun-free zones and strengthened mandatory sentencing rules for gun crimes. They hit a legislative buzzsaw in a public safety subcommittee, just as Democratic-sponsored gun-control bills did when Republicans controlled the General Assembly. “Thank you very much. It’s an honor to be the first to go...

“I know it looks complicated, but this is really very simple,” the Senate Judiciary Committee member said. “From a larger perspective, here's what's going on. Large portions of the political establishment here in Washington, D.C. think the American people are morons and they're not qualified to pick their own president and that's why they want to replace President Trump.” “This case is about two issues,” Kennedy, R-La., added. “Why did the president ask for an investigation? Was he investigating a political rival or was he investigating corruption? And number two, what did Hunter Biden do for the money? Now, you...

I’ve done a lot of Form 990 analysis on this blog over the years, but a change to the tax requirements for non-profits gives us some more insight. Previously, the IRS did not make the Schedule B public, which for most non-profits lists any donor over $5,000, but for 501(c)(3)s lists any donor that goes over 2% of funds raised. Recently the rule was changed so that non-profits could submit their Schedule B without identifying information. This provides some transparency but without allowing the Twitter mobs to target big donors. So Everytown raised a record 67 million dollars in 2018,...

Sen. Rand Paul is offering President Trump “a ticket” to attend his Senate impeachment trial after Trump mused to reporters about wanting a front row seat so he could stare into Democratic senators’ “corrupt faces.” “He’s welcome any time. I’ve got a ticket for him,” the Kentucky Republican told the New York Post. “In fact, I’ll probably send a ticket over to the White House today for him.” Senators control most tickets in the spectator gallery that rings the Senate chamber. During the first day of the trial Tuesday, a marathon debate on rules and procedure that ran to nearly...

Two years ago, President Trump has been in the climate-change doghouse ever since he announced the withdrawal of the United States from the Paris Climate Accord. Many people blasted Trump’s decision to withdraw the U.S. from the Paris climate accord. They criticized President Trump’s decision, saying that Trump’s decision to back away from the Paris climate agreement would doom the Earth. Last year things started to change. The German daily newspaper Die Welt has proclaimed U.S. President Donald Trump “the most successful climate protector in the world” after a new global climate report revealed that the U.S. carbon dioxide emissions...

RUSH: I think what’s happening here in this impeachment trial is them making the case for 20 — ’cause, you know, if you like at their side, look at their presidential campaign, it’s a disaster. It’s an absolute disaster. There isn’t any unity on the Democrat side. It’s obvious who hates who over there. Hillary Clinton’s got her nose out of joint so bad still over having lost that she’s trying to sabotage everybody else on the Democrat side, including Crazy Bernie. She’s walked back some criticism of Crazy Bernie because she been under incredible pressure to do so. But...

Professor Neil Ferguson, an expert at Imperial College London, said the new...
