The Supreme Court should hold that the federal statute which prohibits employment discrimination “because of sex” prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation and against transgender individuals. When the Supreme Court returns from its summer recess, among the first cases it will hear will be three that raise the important question of whether federal law prohibiting employment discrimination protects LGBTQ individuals. Until 1964, no federal law prohibited employment discrimination. The landmark Civil Rights Act of 1964 changed this by forbidding employers from discriminating based on race, sex or religion. There have been many attempts to amend the law to expressly prohibit...

President Trump has the chance to make history in one of the most memorable ways today and tomorrow at, of all places, the United Nations by making the case for religious freedom worldwide, but specifically for calling for a Western Hemisphere Religious Bill of Rights. The President is sponsoring an event today (Monday morning) at the UN Headquarters in New York entitled a Global Call To Protect Religious Freedom. The goal is to highlight increasing religious persecution around the world and claim the high moral ground for all civilized countries to commit to liberty for all religious adherents. This is...

I wanted to start everyone off this week with a little humor. What might Trump do or say to the MSM this week that will drive them nuts? Use movie lines to describe what might happen this week to the Dems and the MSM. As an example, For Bill DeBlahBlah's campaign we can use the line, "he's dead, Jim."

Another high level employee of the NY Times made racist and antisemitic comments on social media. Jazmine Hughes, associate editor of the NY Times Magazine, made a series of racist and antisemitic comments on social media over a multi-year span. A number of the tweets came from Hughes’s personal account associated with her Times email. Forbes highlighted her on its 2018 “30 Under 30” list of influential media figures. The magazine even conducted an interview with her. Jazmine Hughes If I'm at the deli and I don't thank the cashier by saying "have a nice day. Even though you white"...

Their Shut Down DC effort will be taking place at the same time as the United Nations Climate Action Summit in New York. Protesters have called for “a climate strike and global week of action from September 20th-27th.” The activist groups are encouraging kids to skip school and join them. “We will block key infrastructure to stop business-as-usual, bringing the whole city to a gridlocked standstill,” the event page for the protest reads. “Parents, workers, college students, and everyone who is concerned about the climate crisis will skip work and school and put off their other responsibilities to take action...

An elderly man in Florida had owned a large farm for several years. He had a large pond in the back, fixed up nice - picnic tables, horseshoe courts, and some apple and peach trees. The pond was properly shaped and fixed up for swimming when it was built. One evening the old farmer decided to go down to the pond, as he hadn't been there for a while. He grabbed a five gallon bucket to bring back some fruit. When he neared the pond, he heard voices shouting and laughing with glee. As he came closer he saw it...

I was wandering back to one of my "secret" holes, one I’d discovered as a teenager and had never, ever seen another angler or trace of another human at since the early 1980s. I was 20 minutes into the usual 30-minute hike on animal trails when a person appeared from nowhere. I literally almost jumped out of my waders. The dude, who looked strung out and definitely not a fellow fisherman, asked, "Hey, you got some smokes?" "Nope, I don't smoke," I said. "Do you have any money?" "Nope, I'm fishing." "I need some money!" "Sorry, I can't help you."...

There are so many things wrong with this story - “He went underwater to propose to his girlfriend, but he didn't live to hear her say ‘yes’” - and all of them are related to social media. Before Facebook/Twitter/Instagram reduced all significant life events to the ubiquitous selfie and/or video clip it might have been sufficient to take your girlfriend to a $1700/night resort, where you booked a glass room submerged 30 feet below water, to propose. But then, I’m so old that I remember when that trip wouldn’t have happened until after the wedding so what do I know?But...

This was rank political exploitation of Biden family tragedies as a shield against legitimate inquiry. On today's Morning Joe, after mentioning the death of Joe Biden's first wife and daughter in a car accident, and the death of son Beau due to brain cancer, a mawkish Mika Brzezinski described Hunter as the "surviving son" and denounced criticism of him by the Trump campaign. Get the rest of the story and view the video here.

A deadly surprise. Key point: Japan had a track record of surprise attacks. At midnight the Russian fleet slept. A few minutes after the clock struck 12 a.m. on February 9, 1904, Tsarist Russia's Pacific squadron peacefully bobbed at anchor at the Russian naval base nestled in the Manchurian town of Port Arthur. Ashore, the mood that night was festive as the garrison's army and naval officers availed themselves of refreshments at a birthday party for the admiral's wife. Soon their revelry was disturbed by flashes in the night and the dull thud of torpedoes slamming into metal hulls. Some...

Sometime-Democratic frontrunner Joe Biden was at it again, voicing his brand of tough-guy boasts that he can “beat Trump like a drum.”

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is desperately trying to apologize for the multiple times he appeared in blackface. He has asked for forgiveness, blaming his behavior on the fact that he comes from “a place of privilege.” But now, he adds, “I have to acknowledge that that comes with a massive blind spot.” Karen Wang, of Vancouver, British Columbia, doesn’t come from a place of privilege. She emigrated from mainland China in 1999 at age 23 and has built a respected day-care business. Last January, while running for Parliament as a candidate representing Justin Trudeau’s Liberal Party in a special election,...

Joe and Hunter Biden are contradicting each other about the extent of the former vice president’s knowledge regarding his son’s shadowy Ukraine business dealings. “I have never spoken to my son about his overseas business dealings,” Biden angrily told reporters, before accusing President Donald Trump of abusing his power by urging the Ukrainian government to investigate the matter. The former vice president’s claim is contradicted by Hunter Biden’s own words. The younger Biden admitted during a series of interviews for a New Yorker profile published in June that he in fact had discussed his foreign business interests with his father...

Like any religion, wokeness understands the need to convert children. The old Jesuit motto (sometimes attributed to Voltaire) was, after all, “Give me the child for the first seven years and I will give you the man.” And so I was moved but not particularly surprised by George Packer’s tale of a progressive school banishing separate restrooms for boys and girls because this reinforces the gender binary. The school did not inform parents of this, of course: Parents only heard about it when children started arriving home desperate to get to the bathroom after holding it in all day. Girls...
