CBS News has signed former Hillary Clinton 2016 campaign manager Robby Mook and former 2016 Marco Rubio campaign manager Terry Sullivan as contributors, according to a Thursday announcement by the network. Mook "is an experienced political strategist who brings vast insight and knowledge into American politics," CBS said in a statement announcing the hire, while Sullivan is " is a seasoned strategist with more than two decades of experience in politics" who has "played a senior role in more than 100 campaigns." The Coast Guard has issued a safety warning for commercial boat operators, saying they should monitor the amount of unsupervised phone charging on the boat in the wake of a boat fire off the coast of California that killed 34 people. USA Today reported that a preliminary report into the fire near Santa Cruz Island could come out as soon as Thursday, according to the the National Transportation Safety Board. A man was found beaten and bound in the basement of a Bronx bodega when two cops who were chasing separate suspects entered the cellar early Wednesday morning, police said.
