"German Spa" was published by Henry Livingston, Jr, author of "Night Before Christmas," in the Poughkeepsie Country Journal in 1789 and in the New York Magazine of March, 1791 under the pseudonym "R". Unfortunately, only half of his music manuscript has been transcribed, and "German Spaw" appears in the latter part, so this poem has been set to "Cotillion Song." The poem is read by Byron Nilsson, who played Henry in "The Trial Before Christmas." Vintage postcard illustrations.

Rep. Elijah Cummings, ranking member of the House Oversight Committee, said Sunday that caravan migrants seeking asylum should be able to enter the country immediately, challenging President Trump’s efforts to keep them in Mexico while their cases are processed. “That’s not the law. They should be allowed to come in, seek asylum. That’s the law,” Mr. Cummings said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” Asked if he would support changing the law, the Maryland Democrat said, “No.”

Is this another case of fake news or is the incoming left-wing populist government simply trying to play hardball with Señor Trump? Hours after the Washington Post reported that a supposed deal had been met to keep the Central American migrant caravan in Mexico as the United States sorts through asylum applications, Mexico's incoming foreign minister denied that any agreement had been reached and that conversations are still continuing. According to the BBC, "Marcelo Ebrard denied reaching an agreement which would see asylum seekers waiting in Mexico while their claims were processed in US courts." Likewise, the man who will serve in president-elect...

1 My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation. 2 For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body. 3 Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body. 4 Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth. 5 Even so the...

Major League Baseball is requesting a return of a $5,000 donation to a Mississippi Republican candidate for U.S. Senate following her controversial comments and actions ahead of Tuesday's runoff election. Cindy Hyde-Smith has drawn scrutiny for saying at a Nov. 2 campaign event that she would attend a public hanging if invited. Further digging into Hyde-Smith's past has revealed a photo of her wearing a Confederate military-style hat in 2014 along with questions about the white private school she attended in the 1970s.

Yeah, this is from TJ today and yes, the shot in fact turned out to be a PEPPER BALL. But they didn't know that, and just LOOK at what happens to the crowd at the 1 min 5 second point: They're all cramming though a tiny fence gap AND THEN..!!!

A 26-year-old Guatemalan woman attempted to climb the border wall that separates the United States from Mexico when she reportedly fell and was impaled by a rebar near the San Ysidro Port of Entry. The woman was traveling with her three and five year olds, The San Diego Union Tribune reported. The area the woman climbed is located east of the Port of Entry and has been under construction by crews who have been working to replace the decades-old wall. The rebar was part of ongoing border wall construction and had nothing to do with military troops strengthening the wall row...

Illinois has long been a blue state, mainly because of the way Chicagoans lean. But if state Republicans had hopes of gaining, or even maintaining ground last Tuesday, their hopes were quickly quashed. Democrats ousted Republicans in the race for governor and in two key congressional districts, and the General Assembly locked in Democratic supermajorities in both houses. So where do Republicans in Illinois stand today, and what’s to come?

In my youth, I remember my dad dragging my brother and me out of bed in the middle of the night, tossing our tired bodies in the back of his hitched-up pickup truck, and having us fishing out on Lake Erie by the break of dawn. Come fall and winter, we found ourselves bundled up out in the middle of nowhere, hunting turkeys and deer with my dad. Although we lived in the city, my dad’s heart was in the country. Hunting and fishing are in our family’s blood. For many years, life separated me from such pursuits. When my oldest...

One Simi Valley, California man is being credited with providing thousands of people in Southern California with information relating to the Borderline Bar and Grill shooting and the Woosley Fire. For the last 10 years Thomas Gorden, 22, has listened to police scanners and tweeted pertinent information on his Twitter account. But things were different this time.On November 7th, when the shooting in Thousand Oaks took place, Gorden knew the situation was different. "When (officers) went inside and said they're going to need a lot of ambulances, that's when I realized this was a mass shooting," Gorden told The Los Angeles Times. From...

CHIPPEWA FALLS — After several years of tracking a prized deer, Joshua Gawrysiak shot the “buck of a lifetime” Nov. 10 in the northeast corner of Chippewa Falls. The 19-point buck will be mounted and put on display at Scheels in Eau Claire. “I’ll never shoot a deer like that again,” Gawrysiak said. Gawrysiak, 32, of Eau Claire, said he shot the animal on private property near the EOG Resources sand plant. He added that he and other hunters have permission to hunt on the grounds. “I’ve been hunting since I was 12 years old,” Gawrysiak said. “It’s been my...

If there are any free people in Britain in future generations, they will curse the name of Theresa May, whose misrule is rapidly leading the nation to ruin. She won’t let in Asia Bibi, for fear that Muslims will be angry. So it is clear who is in charge in Britain now. The British government routinely bans foes of jihad terror and critics of Islam, while letting in jihadis. The Home Office recently banned Martin Sellner, Brittany Pettibone, Lauren Southern and Lutz Bachmann from entering, all for the crime of opposing jihad terror and Sharia oppression, and thereby made it...

TIJUANA, Mexico, Nov. 25 (UPI) -- The United States closed the San Isidro Point of Entry on the California-Mexico border Sunday, as thousands of migrants traveling in a caravan from Central America arrived. The migrants were waiting to cross the border when U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced via loudspeaker that the port of entry was closed. Pandemonium ensued, with many migrants storming through downtown Tijuana, looking for another way over the border. Thousands more people who were marching in support of the caravan added to the confusion in the crowds. Mexican authorities were overwhelmed. U.S. Navy and CBP helicopters...

We will rank five barnyard residents, starting at the bottom, and work our way to the top. You just cannot find a dumber barnyard creature than a sheep. Yes, they supply us with wool for clothing, but so does a cotton plant. Yes, some people do enjoy mutton, but steak, veal, ham, bacon, chicken, and turkey make for some really good eating. My wife and I watched sheep being herded by Border Collie dogs in New Zealand. Those sheep would just cower at the sight of a dog that was one-tenth its size. It is in their genetic makeup to...

“Name a Natural Explanation Later Replaced by a Supernatural Explanation” By Philip Cottraux I see this one pop up on Twitter from time to time, followed by atheists bragging that they’ve never met a theist who can answer it. Unfortunately, I’ve been unsuccessful tracking down its origin. In some tweets I’ve seen it connected with Sam Harris, but sifting through countless quotes as well as his book The End of Faith (this was a torturous experience) turned up nothing. Like most atheist “gotchas,” this one is riddled with false presumptions. I can already hear skeptics getting to the end of...

Images and videos posted on social media Sunday afternoon appeared to show hundreds of migrants from the leading Central American caravan pushing past Mexican riot police and rushing the border at the port of entry in San Ysidro, Calif., in a major test for both U.S. border authorities and Mexican officials. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials have suspended northbound and southbound vehicle and pedestrian crossings at the San Ysidro POE, ...and tear gas was apparently being fired from the U.S. side of the border. It was not immediately clear if any of the caravan made it past the port...

BRUSSELS — For years, Dan Vandertie’s claim to fame were the 43 consecutive awards his Doorco Holsteins dairy farm received as Progressive Breeders’ Registry honorees. The Holstein Association USA’s longest-running award honors top registered Holstein homebred herds based on elite milk production and classification scores. Doorco Holsteins’ honors started when Dan’s parents owned the farm. Now, the 56-year-old Vandertie finds himself with a new claim to fame, and it doesn’t have anything to do with dairy farming. Vandertie, who along with his wife, Julie, owns Doorco Holsteins in the Door County town of Brussels, earned his place in Wisconsin lore...
