Politicians exploit public ignorance. Few areas of public ignorance provide as many opportunities for political demagoguery as taxation. Today some politicians argue that the rich must pay their fair share and label the proposed changes in tax law as tax cuts for the rich. Let’s look at who pays what, with an eye toward attempting to answer this question: Are the rich paying their fair share? According to the latest IRS data, the payment of income taxes is as follows. The top 1 percent of income earners, those having an adjusted annual gross income of $480,930 or higher, pay about...

Bill Clinton suggested that people who backed Brexit did not understand the impact of their vote as he accepted an honorary degree in Ireland on Tuesday. The former US President told Dublin City University that voters are only just starting to understand the consequences of leaving the European Union. Mimicking a voter, he said: 'Oh my God, I didn't know I was going to lose that customs thing and all these economic benefits. Why didn't anyone tell me that?' He also told the audience that Britain's decision to leave the EU was motivated by people focusing on differences, rather than...

China’s 8.5-ton Tiangong-1 space station, originally launched in 2011, has seen its orbit rapidly decay and is now expected to hit the Earth in the next few months, the Guardian reported. Chinese officials told the UN in 2016 they had lost the ability to correct the station’s altitude and expected it to plummet to the ground between October 2017 and April 2018. But Harvard University astrophysicist Jonathan McDowell told the Guardian it now is entering the atmosphere at an even more accelerated timetable, and will probably see its demise in the earlier part of that range. “Now that [its] perigee...

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk revealed a trove of new details on the company’s plan to colonize Mars. He discussed technical details about the giant rocket that he says will take passengers to the Red Planet, the road map for getting to its first launch, and insights into SpaceX’s broader strategy in an “Ask Me Anything” forum on Reddit Saturday. Musk was his typical freewheeling self during the AMA, quoting the cartoon Bob the Builder and responding to a question about spaceship design with the highly technical insight that “tails are lame.” He also gamely responded to questions about tangential details...

A Florida woman is facing a murder charge after, authorities say, she punished her 9-year-old cousin by sitting on her, causing the child to go into cardiac arrest. Veronica Posey, 64, told investigators that her cousin, Dericka Lindsay, had been misbehaving, so she decided to sit on top of the child as punishment. Minutes later, Dericka said she couldn’t breathe. She was unconscious by the time Posey stood up, according to an arrest report from the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — California State Assemblyman Travis Allen (R-Huntington Beach), who is one of two Republicans running in the Democrat-heavy field of 2018 gubernatorial candidates, says “defunding every sanctuary jurisdiction in the State of California” will be one of his priorities if he becomes the Golden State’s 40th governor. Allen, who has served in the State Assembly for five years, told Breitbart News that defunding California’s sanctuary cities would “absolutely and without a doubt” be one of his top priorities in the first 100 days of taking office. “California communities have to be made safe,” Allen said, “It makes absolutely...

I remember the remarkable success of the little book published in the middle of the twentieth century by J. B. Phillips titled “Your God Is Too Small.” The book was a ringing challenge to seek a deeper understanding of the nature and character of God. It obviously struck a nerve, as multitudes of people devoured the book in a quest to expand their knowledge of the majesty of God. I wish that someone could provoke the same response with regard to Christ. In my years of publishing and producing educational materials for Christians, I have been puzzled by something strange....

Word For The Day, In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day". KINESICS [kih NEE siks]hear it pronounced noun Bombard's Body Language is giving me hours of enjoyment as I learn about the hidden motivation behind the words spoken.Kinesics is the wordless expression of our meaning and intention through the "tells" of our body. This can be as overt as the signs given by an umpire at a baseball game to the twitch in the eye of a politician when he lies....

A Catholic university recently hosted a racially-tailored lunch meant to highlight the “social injustices for Black and Latino males” in the Milwaukee Area. Marquette University, a Jesuit-run school located in Milwaukee, earlier this week gave a “Black Male Appreciation Luncheon” on its campus, an event upon which the school refused to comment in spite of multiple inquires from The College Fix.

Just after graduating from high school, Nicholas LeBerth got an ambiguous letter inviting him to an job interview. The firm was called Vector Marketing and it promised generous compensation and flexible work schedules. The job was selling kitchen knives, first to his parents. “I started mostly trying to sell to my family and ran out of them to sell to in like two weeks,” LeBerth told The Daily Beast.

The NHS will ban patients from surgery indefinitely unless they lose weight or quit smoking, under controversial plans drawn up in Hertfordshire. The restrictions - thought to be the most extreme yet to be introduced by health services - immediately came under attack from the Royal College of Surgeons. Its vice president called for an “urgent rethink” of policies which he said were “discriminatory” and went against the fundamental principles of the NHS. In recent years, a number of areas have introduced delays for such patients - with some told operations will be put back for months, during which time...

Attorney and FOX News Contributor Gregg Jarrett joined Sean Hannity to discuss the illegal money laundering and bribery of the Clinton Foundation.  It was reported earlier today that the FBI uncovered Russian bribery of the Clintons in 2009 and the Department of Justice and the FBI sat on this for four more years. Worse yet, from today’s report we discovered the investigation was supervised by then-U.S. Attorney Rod Rosenstein, who is now President Trump’s Deputy Attorney General, and then-Assistant FBI Director Andrew McCabe, who is now the deputy FBI director under Trump.Rosenstein and Mueller also sat on the CFIUS committee that approved...

Did you happen to catch CNN's latest smear? Anderson Cooper's show recently featured a "two-part exclusive" that claims Donald Trump's EPA director had conspired with the CEO of a mining company to "withdraw environmental restrictions" so the company could dig "the largest open pit mine in the world in an extremely sensitive watershed in wild Alaska." The report was enough to horrify any caring person. CNN showed beautiful pictures of colorful salmon swimming in Bristol Bay, and the reporter intoned dramatically, "EPA staffers were shocked to receive this email obtained exclusively by CNN which says 'we have been directed by...

McKayla Maroney, a two-time Olympic medalist who helped the "Fierce Five" U.S. women's gymnastics team to the gold medal at the 2012 Summer Games, has alleged that she was abused as early as age 13 by former Michigan State and USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar, who already faces 22 counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and could receive a sentence of life in prison. Maroney, now 21, spoke out early Wednesday as part of the "Me too" movement on Twitter, saying, "silence has given the wrong people power for too long, and it's time to take our power back." Maroney...

RUSH: You see, it doesn’t get any better than this. I’ve had the phone fully charged for an hour and 18 minutes. It’s been sitting here doing nothing, and it’s only showing five minutes of usage. I mean, that’s ideal. You cannot get any better than that. I see all these people, “I have battery problems!” Well, I need to do a clinic on this. You know, maybe a Fourth Hour on all of this stuff sometime. I mentioned at the top of the program that there are a couple of stories today to talk about how great Trump is...
