Marjorie Taylor Greene: I Was Raised Catholic, but Wicked Bishops Have ‘Driven Me Away’ from the Church

‘Mrs. Greene's statement about leaving the Church is as enlightening as it is saddening,’ commented Michael Hichborn, president of the Lepanto Institute.

(LifeSiteNews) – Following criticism of comments she made about the U.S. Catholic bishops, conservative firebrand U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene revealed that she was raised Catholic but left the Church “with great sorrow” when she had kids because she had concerns about the left-wing hierarchy protecting abusive priests.

“With great sorrow, and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, I stopped attending Catholic Mass when I became a mother, because I realized that I could not trust the Church’s leadership to protect my children from pedophiles, and that they harbored monsters even in their own ranks,” the now-evangelical said in a lengthy statement.

The Georgia Republican was responding to the Catholic League’s Bill Donahue, who slammed her for suggesting in an interview with Church Militant’s Michael Voris that “Satan is controlling the Church.”

“The Church is not doing its job. And it’s not adhering to the teachings of Christ,” she added.

“It’s the Church leadership I was referring to when I invoked the Devil,” Greene clarified on Twitter. “Just so we’re clear, bishops, when I said ‘controlled by Satan,’ I wasn’t talking about the Catholic Church. I was talking about you.”

“The Catholic Church must throw out these monsters instead of lecturing the people its own bishops have driven away,” she continued, blasting the U.S. Catholic bishops as “some of the worst in the world” and “scheming bureaucrats in miters.” It was the “bishops’ wickedness” that drove her out of the Church, Greene said, and her own refusal to “submit the spiritual and physical livelihood of my children to these monsters.”

Greene, who is sometimes referred to as “MTG” (à la “AOC”), went on to say what many faithful Catholics who.......

The ENTIRE church (Catholic, right?) sent out a letter to some folks that were being confused by statements made by those not in power.

It can be found in ACTS 15.

Surely it is the nub of all Catholic teachings.

And those seven churches mentioned by the angel in Revelation were ALL Catholic ones as well.

They are fine examples of how well Catholic teachers got the theology right.

How about just praying to the One mediator between God and man, Jesus Christ?

1 Timothy 2:5, “For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus.”

The Catholic Church was founded by Jesus Christ on the apostles. Where are you getting this mistaken information?

So...

...The Catholic Church was founded by Jesus Christ on the apostles.

Where are you getting this allegedly correct information?

“He’s not in or of the catholic church.” False. The Lord rolled up His sleeves and created the Catholic Church on His first day of ministry. The Gospel of Mark has the outline of His church. It’s been running smoothly since St. Peter’s death. Today we are the third horrible period in Church History. It helps to read one book a month about current issues. MTG is awesome and needs to find a Latin mass parish.

You repeat that canard frequently, but repetition doesn't make it true.

And this statement is somehow going to make it FALSE?

You assume what you need to prove: that the New Testament church is not still here with us and needs to be reinvented by reverse-engineering it from the Scriptures.

Is stating that someone ASSUMES something a little bit like mind reading?

So if the One, True, Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church is not it... What is?

Gee whiz bro, haven’t we been through this 4 million times? I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I want to take you out of your comfort zone, and say salvation is not in a church. It’s in a saving relationship with God. We are not discussing brain surgery here. There are some church members who are saved, and some church members who are not. Since you have been told now, 4 million and one times, there isn’t any reason to try anymore.

One other issue bro. If you can’t tell the difference between Joel Osteen, Benny Hinn, Sid Roth, Jesse Duplantis, Joyce Moore, and others, from someone like David Jeremiah, Dave and Ruth S, Chip B, and other DTS grads, then, as previously mentioned, there really isn’t any reason to discuss anything with you. I will leave you to your own devices. I hope you make it bro, but if you don’t, it’s on you. 😀😊

Find Christ... He’s not in or of the catholic church
...........
Actually, the Catholic Church is one of a small number of Churches which teach that the Eucharist is the real Body and Blood of Christ. So Christ is in the Catholic Church.

why are there things in the catechism that Jesus never said?

Even when I was a Catholic, I only read bits and pieces of the catechism, in high school catechism class. It was written in legalese language. I could tell by their body language, that the majority of the other kids in class, didn’t want to be there either. We were more interested in flirting with the girls. Apparently, they were too, as they flirted back. Once I left high school, I never touched the catechism again.
I didn’t like confession either. I didn’t like telling the priest about my racy sins. Once, I thought the priest was getting his jollies from listening to my sins. I never went to confession again. 👎

I don’t blame her one bit. My mother tried to shove catholicism down our throats, but not a single one of us bought into it. The sordid history of the church shows it didn’t take Satan long at all to corrupt it and own it.

Same reason I left, they refused to do anything about their pedophile priest problem and made it worse by shifting them around to endanger more children.

Many pedophile priests were sent to Alaska, where they proceeded to rape their way across the entire state. Little Alaska Native boys never stood a chance against this vile evil scum masquerading as men of God. The catholic church is Satan's church. Look no further than the lowlife scumbag Marxist thug at the helm right now.

Augustin had no power to do such a thing.

“I Was Raised Catholic but Wicked Bishops Have Driven Me Away from the Church”

Doesn’t understand, never understood the Holy Eucharist. Like many here.

She also kids herself, like many here, if she thinks the percentage of priests who abused young people, about 4%, is any lower in other Christian churches.

Pedophilia denotes the abuse of very young children of both sexes. The Catholic Church problem was 79% priests and males between 11-16. This is homosexual predation, not pedophilia. Many here play the media’s game of saying it’s pedophilia which distracts away from the fact that homosexuality was the predominant problem among abusive priests.

I’ve known SO MANY holy priests. Probably leading more chaste lives than many condemning them here. How absurd the tunnel vision that most priests are child molesters. Media brainwashing.

The church left me too..

On our local Catholic university campus, there’s a very nice home for defrocked pedophile priests. Talk about bad vibes.

Read Revelation 2 & 3.

And then 1 Timothy and Titus.

If your god tolerates, condones, protects, or blesses sin, it is NOT the God of Scripture.

And your argument is nonsense. I never heard an atheist use that as evidence against God.

The church, His body, is NOT a corrupt religious organization. Nor is it any mainline Protestant denomination, any Evangelical denomination, shyster televangelist, whoever. Catholics seem to be singularly incapable of conceiving of the fact that one can reject the claim that Catholicism is the OTC and put forth NO other organization to replace it with. The Church, His body, is NOT a hierarchical religious organization one joins to get to heaven or claims to be the sole repository of truth.

It’s individual believers, wherever they are in space throughout history.

I Corinthians 12:27 Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.

People can join a church, be baptized into it, do the do’s and not do the don’t’s and still be as lost as the heathen in any third world country who never heard the gospel. It’s not about church membership. It’s about being in a restored, right relationship with the Father through Jesus Christ, being spiritually born into His family, which is a work of the Holy Spirit, not a religious organization.

Religions depend on works not forgiveness..

Likely as not? If 50% of priests were provably guilty of molestation, most of us wouldn’t see one outside of visiting hours at the state penitentiary. The real number is more like 3%, and that includes those removed from active ministry.

What with the way the Catholic hierarchy has protected it’s molesting priests, no way they’d be in jail.

The only reason any ever went to jail in the first place is because a few brave souls refused to be intimidated and blackmailed with threats of loss of salvation for speaking up.

They told the Catholic leadership and the it did nothing so they had to go to civil authorities to get justice.

That’s an abomination that secular, civil authority is more righteous in dealing with sin and crimes than the Catholic hierarchy.

God is very clear in Scripture in how to deal with sin within the body of Christ, and Catholicism couldn’t even follow the procedure set for in the book that it continually claims credit for.

All Catholics ever seem to do is excuse the sin in their own while demanding everyone else follow the rules they won’t themselves.

It’s been running smoothly since St. Peter’s death. Today we are the third horrible period in Church History.

And that’s what you consider “running smoothly”????

Only a Catholic could adhere to two such incompatible claims at the same time.

Jesus doesn’t live in a wheat wafer.

Making an object and calling it your god is idolatry, and breaks the Second Commandment.

Exodus 20:4-6 You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.

And from Young’s Literal Translation

Thou dost not make to thyself a graven image, or any likeness which [is] in the heavens above, or which [is] in the earth beneath, or which [is] in the waters under the earth. Thou dost not bow thyself to them, nor serve them: for I, Jehovah thy God, [am] a zealous God, charging iniquity of fathers on sons, on the third [generation], and on the fourth, of those hating Me, and doing kindness to thousands, of those loving Me and keeping My commands.
