‘Mrs. Greene's statement about leaving the Church is as enlightening as it is saddening,’ commented Michael Hichborn, president of the Lepanto Institute.
(LifeSiteNews) – Following criticism of comments she made about the U.S. Catholic bishops, conservative firebrand U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene revealed that she was raised Catholic but left the Church “with great sorrow” when she had kids because she had concerns about the left-wing hierarchy protecting abusive priests.
“With great sorrow, and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, I stopped attending Catholic Mass when I became a mother, because I realized that I could not trust the Church’s leadership to protect my children from pedophiles, and that they harbored monsters even in their own ranks,” the now-evangelical said in a lengthy statement.
The Georgia Republican was responding to the Catholic League’s Bill Donahue, who slammed her for suggesting in an interview with Church Militant’s Michael Voris that “Satan is controlling the Church.”
“The Church is not doing its job. And it’s not adhering to the teachings of Christ,” she added.
“It’s the Church leadership I was referring to when I invoked the Devil,” Greene clarified on Twitter. “Just so we’re clear, bishops, when I said ‘controlled by Satan,’ I wasn’t talking about the Catholic Church. I was talking about you.”
“The Catholic Church must throw out these monsters instead of lecturing the people its own bishops have driven away,” she continued, blasting the U.S. Catholic bishops as “some of the worst in the world” and “scheming bureaucrats in miters.” It was the “bishops’ wickedness” that drove her out of the Church, Greene said, and her own refusal to “submit the spiritual and physical livelihood of my children to these monsters.”
Greene, who is sometimes referred to as “MTG” (à la “AOC”), went on to say what many faithful Catholics who.......

The problem with the bishops is not that they’re personally evil (or at least most of them), but that they’re wusses and organizational men. They just do whatever the boss says, and in this case it’s a bad top boss (the Pope) and bad second tier bosses (most of the Cardinals and Archbishops).
They’ll kowtow to any power, religious or secular (i.e., the Democratic Party).
Cowardice and being willing to go along to get along seem to be the main requirements for being a bishop nowadays. And that’s very disillusioning.
I think they looked for excuses to ditch their last boss because they didn’t want what he wanted.

And a Pope whose Christianity can be questioned.
same here. One of my buds who was the USHER for the church the past 20 years was now told to get finger prints like the fbi and didnt like being ordered around by the new lefty priest from new york who took over.
I have heard the same complaints about Bishops from other “falling away” Catholics.
And this, so called, Pope.
In your dreams.
Claiming it retroactively does not make it so.
Catholicism has long ago forfeited any right it had to claim to be the body of Christ due to its refusal to deal with the gross immorality that permeates its clergy from the top(the papacy) down.
There’s no way you can convince any thinking person that God would tolerate, condone, protect, or bless the kind of evil and debauchery Catholicism has perpetrated on mankind for so many years. All anyone has to do is read Scripture to see how God deals with sin in a church.
Christ is building His church and Catholicism ain’t it.
I left in the early 1980’s, that’s how long this has been going on.
Reminds me of Joe Paterno. He was always my hero until Sandusky came along. Greene is a young man’s cougar crush.
whoa. Mine was in the past 5 years.
People aren’t as stupid as you seem to think they are. They can think and read for themselves and nobody with a modicum of spiritual discernment would go to a Catholic priest for advice on spiritual matters.
Why would someone ask a priest who is likely as not a homosexual child molester for advice on a relationship with God? Cause that priest certainly wouldn’t have one.
With the communist currently posing as “pope,” who could blame her or anyone else for leaving that church?
Yeah. Whatever.
I didn’t even know about all this stuff, when I left the church (1970) I left because I didn’t think they preached the gospel.
Any Catholic or Orthodox Christian who knows his faith recognizes that assumption for what it is, and rejects it immediately.
why are there things in the catechism that Jesus never said?
Likely as not? If 50% of priests were provably guilty of molestation, most of us wouldn’t see one outside of visiting hours at the state penitentiary. The real number is more like 3%, and that includes those removed from active ministry.
