The last time Richard III was at Bosworth Field the outcome proved less than satisfactory for the King.
The battle, which was the last significant skirmish in the War of the Roses, saw Richard not only lose the English throne but also his life.

I watched “The White Queen” as well and enjoyed it. PBS will be showing “Wolf Hall” starting April 5th. It’s the fictionalized biography of Thomas Cromwell during the reign of Henry VIII. It’s based on the first two novels of a trilogy by Hilary Mantel. Damien Lewis (Band of Brothers and Homeland tv series) stars as Henry VIII. I have been interested in British history for quite some time. I was fortunate enough to have visited the UK and Ireland. I also read a lot of British medieval mystery series.
First married when she was three years old. Second marriage when she was twelve. A pregnant widow at thirteen. I'll bet she was tough.
BBC America is adapting Bernard Cornwell’s Saxon Stories for TV. Great books, I hope they do them justice.

I don’t think he had the 2 princes killed. He gained nothing from it. But Henry Tudor did gain big time from it. I believe that Margaret Beaufort arranged their murder.

Richard killed them. He's the only one who had the means and the opportunity. And he absolutely did benefit from their deaths. As long as the boys lived Richard's right to rule would be in question. He was a usurper after all.
French and Canadian studios have filmed a new mini-series titled "Versailles." It will be in English, so I'm hoping it will make it to one of the channels in the U.S., Netflix or Amazon eventually. George Blagden who plays Athelstan on History's "Vikings," will play King Louis XIV. Word is they are already in production for the second season of this show. It's supposed to premier on a pay channel in France in November, with distribution to other networks world-wide afterwards. Parts of the series have been filmed at the actual palace.
Thank you for the news. Richard’s Catholic Book of Hours contains a nice prayer that he wrote. “I ask you, most gentle Lord Jesus Christ, to keep me, thy servant and defend me from all evil.”
Henry VIII made sure that the two-year reign of the Catholic Richard III would be forever hated. Today, the British need to reject the islamic tyranny, reject the homosexual tyranny, reject the protestant tyranny and once again welcome Catholicism.

THey had already been declared illegitimate. Henry restored their illegitimacy when he came to power and married Elizabeth. Henry’s right to rule wouldn’t exist if they were still alive.

The entire Lancastrian faction would have disagreed with that.
It was Richard's right to rule that didn't exist while they were alive. Nobody believed Richard's obviously made up story about Edward having been contracted to marry another girl before Elizabeth, and Richard never produced any proof of it. If there had been any proof don't you think the Lancastrians would have turned it up? As long as those two boys were alive Richard knew they would be the object of plots against his reign. He murdered them. No one else had the opportunity. They were in Richard's custody.
Henry Tudor had no reason to kill the boys before killing Richard and plenty of reason not to. Killing them would only have created ill will among potential allies. Henry didn't consider the Yorkist line to be legitimate in the first place so the boys were no more of a threat to him than Richard. I doubt he gave the two boys a second thought after Richard locked them up in the Tower.
Henry's hostility to Richard had nothing to do with RIchard being Catholic. All English kings before Henry were Catholic. Henry was hostile to Richard because Richard was a York and the Tudors were Lancastrian.
If this is about The Saxon Tales...great read. Liked it much better than Game of Throne series. If you are interested about 800 ad England and King Alfred, this is a good series.
There was a witness named Stillington, that declared Edward had been wed before and Parliament asked Richard to take the crown. There was a document drawn that declared the boys illegitimate. I do not believe Richard killed the boys because of that document.
What’s the title of the biography?
If the boys were left to live, Richard would have faced legitimacy disputes from both the Yorks and the Lancasters. Of course, history is unclear about who was behind the disappearance of the princes, but I think the evidence points to Richard.
In Henry's case, I find it interesting that while I think his claim to the throne was valid, he didn't want to fight that quagmire. He claimed the throne by Right of Conquest.
His marriage to Elizabeth sewed things up nicely, so the Yorkists could claim a win, too. Since her brothers were gone and Richard left no heirs himself, she was pretty clearly next in line for the throne on their end (claims of illegitimacy aside).
