Pope Francis has praised the role of women in theology, saying that women have a "feminine genius" that helps them discern "unexplored aspects of the unfathomable mystery of Christ."
He told the Vatican theological commission that advises him and the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith that he wanted more women on the committee. Women "are the strawberry on the cake, but we want more, he said.
Francis has previously said that women should have greater decision-making powers in the Church. The presence of women, the Pope said, "becomes an invitation to reflect on the role that women can and should play in the field of theology."
By virtue of their feminine genius, [female] theologians can detect, for the benefit of all, some unexplored aspects of the unfathomable mystery of Christ, the Pope said. "I invite you, therefore, to take the best advantage of this specific contribution of women to the intelligence of faith."
Francis advised the International Theological Commission of 30 theologians, including five women, to respect a diverse range of views and listen to the "signs of the times" in their work. Opposed factions cannot ignore each other, but in theological dialogue should enrich and correct each other," he said.
And how was this mistranslated/taken out of context?
Truth is truth. The fact that Frances thinks the gender of the person speaking it is important is very troubling.
why won’t he just zip it?
O.o
>> Women “are the strawberry on the cake,
... and Francis, the nut on top.
One of the donkeys was heard to say to the other, "Hey, he's one of us!"
I can’t figure out if this is satire or not
Good one!
Hey Gamecock.... BOO!
The wisdom of Latinas.
Would that make the Pope less crazy?
If they allowed priests to go back to the original right to marry. In the very beginning, Catholic priests could marry...
Yeah, on a ginger cake. Superfluous and unnecessary. Two flavors attempting to dominate each other. That’s what’s wrong with modern churches.
Suggest you take it up with the Roman Catholics on this thread who are demonstrating some degree of consternation.

...you post a topic, and then suggest taking it up with someone else...ok...
Boo! To them as well.
As if men needed women to be looking over their shoulders to make sure they get it all right. Humbug.
The Pope and God are the same, so he has all power in Heaven and earth. Pope Pius V, quoted in Barclay, Chapter XXVII, p. 218, Cities Petrus Bertanous.
We hold upon this earth the place of God almighty. Pope Leo XIII, Encyclical Letter, June 20, 1894.
Even if the Pope were Satan incarnate, we ought not to raise up our heads against him, but calmly lie down to rest on his bosom. He who rebels against our Father is condemned to death, for that which we do to him we do to Christ: we honor Christ if we honor the Pope; we dishonor Christ if we dishonor the Pope. I know very well that many defend themselves by boasting: They are so corrupt, and work all manner of evil! But God has commanded that, even if the priests, the pastors, and Christ-on-earth were incarnate devils, we be obedient and subject to them, not for their sakes, but for the sake of God, and out of obedience to Him. St. Catherine of Siena, SCS, p. 201-202, p. 222, (quoted in Apostolic Digest, by Michael Malone, Book 5: The Book of Obedience, Chapter 1: There is No Salvation Without Personal Submission to the Pope).
It appears that Catholics should be cautious about bashing this pope.
