Francis: Church has One Year to Mature. In the Meantime, its Doors are Wide Open
La Stampa-Vatican Insider ^ | 10/19/14 | Iacoppo Scaramuzzi

The Church’s doors are wide open, to receive “not only the just”, “but the needy” too. Francis disproved assumptions about a “disputatious Church where one part is against the other”, guaranteeing its unity. He reiterated that no one ever called into question the indissolubility of marriage and marriage’s openness to life

Speaking after the vote on the content of the Synod’s final document, the relatio synodi (three key paragraphs in the draft document did not win the two thirds majority vote), Francis addressed the assembled Fathers saying: “Dear brothers and sisters, now we still have one year to mature, with true spiritual discernment, the proposed ideas and to find concrete solutions to so many difficulties and innumerable challenges that families must confront; to give answers to the many discouragements that surround and suffocate families.” In his speech, which received a five-minute standing ovation , Francis underlined that the Church’s “doors are wide open to receive the needy”, “not only the just”. He disproved assumptions about a “disputatious Church where one part is against the other”, and presented himself as the “guarantor” of its unity. He reiterated that no one ever called into question the indissolubility of marriage and marriage’s openness to life.

The relatio synodi, Francis emphasised, is “the faithful and clear summary of everything that has been said and discussed in this hall and in the small groups. It is presented to the Episcopal Conferences as ‘lineamenta’”, as a guiding text that is, for the Ordinary Synod in October 2015.

“I can happily say that – with a spirit of collegiality and of synodality – we have truly lived the experience of ‘Synod’, a path of solidarity, a ‘journey together’, the Pope said after thanking everyone present. “And it has been ‘a journey’ – and like every journey....

Francis: Church has One Year to Mature

Read...."drink Kasper's Kool Aid and get with the program."

In the Meantime, its Doors are Wide Open

As always with +Francis, the inevitable straw man. When have they ever been shut? When has the Church ever turned away repentant sinners?

> When has the Church ever turned away repentant sinners?

Never. But the key word in your rhetorical question is, “repentant”.

Repentance is apparently no longer a requirement for certain sexual sins, like serial polygamy, sodomy, and other queer sexual behaviors.

>>>As always with +Francis, the inevitable straw man. When have they ever been shut? When has the Church ever turned away repentant sinners?<<<

So often on a religious themed thread, somebody will put in a reply calling the Catholic Church, THE ONE TRUE CHURCH. This is to call protestant churches fake I guess, as much as a Pope did himself.

In 2007 Pope Benedict XVI was insisting they (Protestant churches) were mere “ecclesial communities” and their ministers effectively phonies with no right to give communion.

Now what? The Catholic Church is about to concede on some very big issues. What makes a Catholic Church worthy of spending your time and devotion when basic and fundamental tenants do not stand the test time. Remember what happened to purgatory? Now gays and divorcees.

“the temptation to a destructive tendency to goodness, that in the name of a deceptive mercy binds the wounds without first curing them and treating them.” [...] “the temptation to neglect the “depositum fidei” [the deposit of faith], not thinking of themselves as guardians but as owners or masters [of it]

It's good to see His Holiness identify these as "temptations."

Jesus said, “Go and sin no more.”

Pope Francis said come in and keep sinning as much as you want.

Don't hold your breath.

Damage control.

In football parlance, he almost lost the locker room during the Synod.

No. He noted that Churches and clergy offer sacrifices. Without a sacrifice, there is no altar and with no altar there is no church. Protestant communities were simply that... communities of believers--but not churches since they deny the real sacrifice of Christ in the Eucharist.

Besides... if you don't believe in his authority, why do you care what he said?

The Catholic Church is about to concede on some very big issues. What makes a Catholic Church worthy of spending your time and devotion when basic and fundamental tenants do not stand the test time.

I'll tell you what... sane people will wait and pray before hyperventilating on what the Church hasn't yet done.

Remember what happened to purgatory?

No... what?

The Vatican has NEVER gotten tough with pedophile priests. They are coddled and protected. Why? Because the priesthood is a veritable synogogue of Satan, a group of men who are supposed to lead sinners to the only source of salvation, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Instead, they teach total insanity about praying to a goddess and other dead humans as the pagans do, placing themselves between people and Christ, prophecies from terrified children and worshipping statues and relics among other demented acts. This includes Frankie-Boy the First, a man who I am convinced is a dedicated Socialist.

Because too many in the Vatican are cowards.

Frankie-Boy the First, a man who I am convinced is a dedicated Socialist.

He has at the least said some very silly stuff about economics.

Is the pope Catholic?

That’s not rhetorical anymore. I really want to know. Everything this pope does seems to run counter to biblical truth. Apparently the Cardinals elected a heretic.

“now we still have one year to mature”

That means you have one year to get with the program on gays in the church. Or else I guess you’re welcome to come worship with my congregation.

I am not a just person, at least not always. I am a chronic sinner who struggles everyday to be a better person.

I would never ever think of bringing my sinful nature into the Church. When I enter the Church it is my sanctuary, it is the environment that banishes the sinful part of my nature and forces me to leave it at the church door.

But the homosexuals do not seek to leave their sin at the door. In fact, they are not even in agreement that their choice is a sin. They seek to bring their sin inside the Church and coerce if necessary that the Church recognize them as normal.

I have no idea what this Pope is trying to do. He may be entirely in agreement with what I write here. But he has not made it clear and he has all means to make it clear.
