Obama Catholics vort-2012-05-03
Hello everyone and welcome to The Vortex where lies and falsehoods are trapped and exposed. Im Michael Voris.
The campaign season is in full swing already. Its actually a little early as general elections go in the United States people dont usually tune into until Labor Day .. but it is what it is.
For Catholics .. election fever doesnt seem like it could get any hotter. The Obama health mandate requiring Catholic institutions to chuck their consciences and pay for birth control and abortion-causing drugs for their workers has already engaged a good portion of Catholics.
And its only the beginning of May.
But given all that .. whats surprising is that it seems like .. despite all the uproar in the Catholic blogs and media .. that MOST Catholics in America are somehow either blissfully unaware OR simply dont car about Obamas conscience incursion.
In a recent Gallup Poll .. Catholic voters nationwide remarkably still somehow favor Obama 51-45%. There are some possible bright spots in that in some of the more crucial states .. the margin might be a little closer .. but nonetheless .. this poll and others which agree with it .. would seem to indicate that faithful Catholic still have a yeomans worth of work to do in informing fellow Catholics about Obama.
When you stop to consider ALL that has been written and said about this issue .. including in the secular press .. it seems astonishing that the needle has barely moved among Catholic voters who support Obama.
In the 08 election .. the Obama margin among Catholics was 54 to 46%. While the number supporting Obama has shrunk a little bit .. from 54 down to 51 .. its certainly not clear that this can be attributed to the Obama attacking Catholic principles and religious liberty factor.
Obama has seen his numbers decline among almost EVERY group across the board.
But alarmingly from a Catholic point of view .. his numbers among Catholics still remain some of his strongest support compared to other groups and THAT suggests that the message of Obamas campaign against the Church just hasnt gotten out to Catholics in the street .. or if it has .. even more disturbingly is the possibility that they HAVE heard it .. and simply dismissed it.
What IS certain is that the vast majority of Catholics in America are simply disengaged from the Church in any meaningful manner. 75% dont go to Mass on Sunday .. and thats on a GOOD day.
Most .. huge numbers .. disagree with and reject Church teaching on practically every area regarding sexual morality .. which is perhaps why Obama decided to strike at the issue of contraception.
This was a battle he did not need to engage in. A majority of states already required that Catholic employers as well as all other employers - provide birth control to workers through health insurance plans.
So it makes sense that the average Catholic who remember, doesnt go to Mass and rejects Church teaching would say whats the big deal, who cares? Im not gonna decide my vote based on this issue which seems like a tempest in a teapot.
Obama has chosen an issue which he knows MOST Catholics simply do not care about .. contraception. Which is why the bishops have chosen to fight this as a religious liberty issue as opposed to what it really is a violation of natural law, imposed by the state on all of its subjects.
Perhaps the destruction of Catholic moral teaching over the past 40 plus years as Cardinal Timothy Dolan openly admitted a few weeks back has been so widespread that there is no hope that this can be fought any other way other THAN as a 1sy amendment issue.
If thats true .. its hard to see that a massive Catholic vote could be mobilized against Obama based on this issue. Bottom line is this most Catholics dont agree with the Church teaching on birth control. So they arent gonna rally around the issue come November.
In principle .. in a poll or when talking with friends .. sure some might say AND agree that they think its wrong for Obama to try and pull this .. but dont count on that being anything top of mind with them when they walk into the voting booth.
Faithful Catholics in the blog and on the internet in general can tend to get a very myopic vision of the world as can any group that hangs out with just its own members.
The very real danger of Obama is the man pushes laws that violate the natural law .. not just the Constitution. This battle needs to be fought in that arena .. not the religious liberty arena. The religious liberty issue is a loser .. sure fire loser. People wont remember it all come November.
Catholics in general have already largely dismissed it right now .. in the heat of intense media coverage. They certainly wont care about it 6 months from now.
This is a perfect opportunity for the Church to open up the much more important discussion of natural law and evil .. lets just hope that it happens.
GOD Love you. Im Michael Voris.
Obozo Catholics = Apostates and Heretics
Sadly, he’s right. Most Catholics sitting in the pews on Sunday mornings don’t care about the Religious Liberty issue, even though they made the effort to get to Mass. They just don’t care what the Bishops say.
I’m going to post something here that I originally wrote to encourage people to vote for Newt in the primary - concentrating on why this issue matters.
It’s still a reason to vote against Obama, because Obama is just as bad as Romney on this issue, with the added twist that Obamacare exempts Muslims so it clearly serves the sharia goal of a dhimmi tax being required of non-Muslims but not Muslims. If Obama can get that at the federal level, the Islamists don’t even have to go the local-precedent route to get to sharia in the entire US.
But more than anything at this point, if Romney is the R candidate, this is a reason to vote for Senate and House people who will recognize the grave danger we are in. Both the D and R establishments are tearing this country limb from limb, on the very things that make us America. If we get rid of the freedom of religion we’ve lost everything - especially considering that the one-world-government type people (who apparently own both the D and R parties) have all their eggs in the Islamist basket.
Serious, serious times. The people who poo-pooh the significance of this issue better buy their burkas and prayer rugs right now, because that’s where they’re gonna end up if they fail to recognize what’s at stake here.
For those people, I recommend they read “The Kite Runner” and consider it the appetizer before the full meal unless they personally do something to stop the takeover of America that is in progress.
Here’s what I wrote:
At http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7y2KsU_dhwI Ray Comfort asks people on the street: Youre in Germany in 1935, in front of a deep trench filled with bodies most dead but some alive. Armed soldiers tell you to operate a bulldozer to bury the bodies; if you refuse you will be shot and the person next to you will do it instead. What would you do?
The whole video is an excellent watch, as each person sorts through the options and reasoning behind them. This is not an imaginary scenario. I have read eyewitness accounts of those who evaded capture who listened to the cries coming from under the soil and watched the ground writhe with the escape efforts of their loved ones, buried alive by their own countrymen. Ive read of people who were required to provide background music for the killings, or to beat their fellow emaciated prisoners.
It wasnt because the overlords couldnt do it themselves; it was so nobody innocent could ever stand up and accuse them. It was so everyone would share the guilt, and those who were coerced into the thing they hate would be so disgusted and demoralized as to feel subhuman. Its the same demoralization as is currently used in the rape rooms in Iran, where boys are first repeatedly sodomized and then forced to sodomize each other, or in Iraq where Saddam Hussein lined up and executed all the men in a village while their families watched and then charged the wives for the bullet with which their husband was murdered. Such a small fee it was to kill that womans soul.
Coercion is the essence of rape. It is one person overpowering another to get them to do what is repulsive to them. Its unthinkable that our government would do this to us.
Its happening in Massachusetts. Catholic hospitals are required to inform women of their right to use the abortifacient morning after pill and to provide it to those who want it (regardless of whether rape is claimed) even though Catholic doctrine says that abortion is murder. This is government-coerced abortion.
What you or I believe about abortion is not at issue here. The soldiers in the scenario above believed the bodies in the trench were garbage, and German law at the time allowed the government to kill Jews. That is another issue, which the video addresses. The point here is that every Catholic who puts money in the collection plate is being forced by the government to participate in an act which their own religious doctrine says is murder.
There are plenty of secular hospitals and pharmacies which would voluntarily operate the bulldozer. This is not about access to abortions; its about demoralization - defiling consciences which oppose abortion.
A 1975 MA law ensures that no law can force a person to participate in abortion against their own religious beliefs. In the 30 years leading up to the passage of Romneycare all abortion laws were known to thus not apply to Catholic hospitals. But Mitt Romney said that his counsel told him the Romneycare abortion law was different. Without expressly saying so (and in spite of 30 years where not saying so meant the conscience law was still in effect), this law nullified the 1975 conscience law. Romney applauded that nullification as a sounder view, saying it is the right thing for Catholic hospitals to violate their own religion and conscience:
On that basis, I have instructed the Department of Public Health to follow the conclusion of my own legal counsel and to adopt that sounder view, Romney said. In my personal view, its the right thing for hospitals to provide information and access to emergency contraception to anyone who is a victim of rape.
That was in 2005. Since then, Romney has needed the support of the pro-life community to become the Republican candidate for President so he has made lots of promises that sound good, and on the basis of those promises many pro-life groups have declared him to be pro-life.
Romney defends Romneycares coerced abortions by pointing out that states are not bound by the US Constitution. First Amendment guarantees of religious liberty dont apply to states. States are free to establish religion and violate religious liberty, as Romney has done in MA.
The chief way that Islamists plan to establish sharia in free countries is by establishing precedents at the more local levels and then using that precedent to force the whole country into sharia Islam forced onto everyone. Romneys claims would also allow states to establish sharia.
Thats like saying as long as its soldiers and not police ordering innocents to run the bulldozers its perfectly fine.
Its not fine. Its tyranny like Ahmadinejad or Saddam Hussein would do.
We must not reward this tyranny. Vote Newt Gingrich in Nebraskas Republican primary on May 15.
This group is no different than any other. Big Ears could close down half of the churches & 50% will still vote for this prick. These pols know this. Just look at the way The Hildabeast used to talk down her supporters & the more she did so the more than liked her.
Sadly they will keep up the same attitudes all the way to the final judgment where they will be rejected for being false converts.
Obama seems to be punishment..... severe punishment...
first to Americans generally and
to Catholics(of various kinds) in particular..
for the crime(s) of murdering their(and other peoples) babies..
with glee, unapologetic, and with craven hubris..
I venture to guess that most folks who self-identify as Catholics on opinion polls aren't sitting in the pews on Sunday mornings.
My Parish has a medium-sized Church building (by American Catholic standards). On an average Sunday, it's about 2/3 full at each Mass.
On Easter Sunday, we set up extra chairs anywhere in the nave that won't offend the fire marshall too badly, in the narthex, and even down the corridor from the narthex to the "fellowship hall". It's still standing room only. At every Mass.
What the heck? Where do these folks come from? Where do they go?
I haven't a clue.
But when you hear them all saying "and also with you" ... you get a clue where they haven't been ...
I will vote for Newt Gingrich in the WV primary on May 8.
I will not vote for Mitt the Abortionist.
Ever.
I am a Roman Catholic who attend Mass every Sunday. Here is what I hear from fellow Catholics who vote Democrat:
1) Without the federal government, too many people would not be able to feed themselves.
2) Social justice is part of the Catholic teachings.
3) The democrats are the only party that protects the little guy.Christ would vote Democrat.
4) The GOP will cut Social Security and Medicare.
5) The GOP is the party of war.
6) We must work together to assist a fellow man. The GOP is the party of selfishness.
7) The democrats care about the environment. The GOP cares about oil. We must take care of God’s earth.
8) Only the democrats will continue funding education.
9) GOP is a party of racists.
10) Too many protestants in the GOP.
These folks NEVER mention abortion probably because to are pro choice.
Almost EVERY Catholic Democrat I meet is a government worker or retired on SS.
These folks probably never listen to the Gospel regarding being judged as an INDIVIDUAL rather then a collective.
Yes, I have confronted many and NO I will not leave my Church.
I will battle peacefully even if I’m the last conservative Catholic left.
There's only one thing which will wake up the slumbering "faithful". Until the bishops start publicly excommunicating CINO politicians who support this (starting with Sebelius, Pelosi, etc.) it's all bark and no bite.
So far, Obama's judgement in calling the bishops' bluff is working.
I just became Catholic this past Easter so finding out what folks "in the pews" are like has been interesting to say the least. The parish I'm in seems to have more families and young folks compared to others I hear people talk about that are mostly older folks. From what I can tell, people are split right down the middle over whether they care about this or not. From the people I've talked to, people who agree that this is an important issue are prone to thinking that it's already too late to save religious freedom in this country anyway.
A common line of reasoning is that with mainline Protestant denominations mostly moving toward everything liberal socially, Evangelicals being divided over whether to even bother with politics, and the Catholics still fighting internal battles against social liberals, there's not enough people who will focus on the real issue of religious freedom to make a difference.
I am to the right of General Patton, and I agree with you about feeling alone as a Conservative Catholic.
Thankfully, you are not the last conservative Catholic... My wife and I, and many of our churchgoing friends are conservative Catholic. The Democrat Catholics you describe are real and very scary. It is like they were born Democrat and have to die that way. They almost look at politics as some may view local sports teams. They root and cheer no matter how bad the team is! Some are true fanatics. There is a lot of work to do sigh.
I did put a shorter version of this editorial in the local newspaper that came out yesterday - the day Newt quit the race (sigh). But that doesn’t mean we can’t still vote for him. And principle matters.
At this point the words from “Valkyrie” apply: “We have to show the world we were not all like them.”
At this point we HAVE to get the House and Senate filled with people who recognize that both the D and the R establishments are hell-bent on destroying this country. We need people who would not even CONSIDER approving somebody like Eric Holder as AG, and who DEFINITELY would impeach if the AG committed perjury and obstruction of justice, while claiming that one class/race of people cannot commit crimes and would thus be protected from investigation and prosecution of crimes.
That’s why there’s no way I’ll vote for Jon Bruning to be Senator for Nebraska, since he strongly encouraged the confirmation of Eric Holder as AG. Bruning is the NE AG and apparently he has no clue about the need for the rule of law - which Eric Holder has been trampling from Day One. That is exactly the kind of guy we need to keep OUT of the Senate, because he would be outright DANGEROUS there.
I’m sure he was pandering to Omaha voters by supporting Eric Holder rather than actually being concerned about the impact of a lawless AG who can take over all federal law enforcement. Which puts him firmly in the Trayvon Martin-supporting mentality. And somebody who would pander rather than actually carry out the oath to protect and defend the US Constitution needs to be rejected as a US Senator.
I mean to contact my Representative, Adrian Smith, and find out if he understands where we’re at right now. He’s generally voted the right way (though I need to check his stand on the NDAA) but we need people who have the balls to do what has to be done to stop the communist-Islamist coup n progress (and darn near completion).
I'll be able to do that in the Senate election ... my Republican congressthing is pro-abortion. Even if it has a demonicRat opponent, I can't vote for that, either.
Just goes to show how undescerning Catholics are. They are undiscerning in their politics, as well as doctrine. The doctrinal deception is the reason for their political deception. When you do not understand and know the real Christ of Scripture, the foundation is faulty. According to Jesus, it’s built on sand instead of rock.
So, you want to go around looking like this while the country goes to hell with Obama? Just great.
So where exactly did you study the doctrines of the Catholic Church to qualify you to make a blanket statement like that?
ROTFLMAO Oh yeah, baby.
Like the vast majority of non-Catholic folks who claim to be Christian, the Catholics should stop worrying about contraception, abortion, and other forms of infanticide so they can focus on making money and collecting "Precious Moments" ceramics!!.
If they had true discernment they could even copy the Methodists, Presbyterians, many Baptists, Episcopalians, loads of Independent non-denominationals of all sorts, as well as all the other tens of thousands of groups who claim to have true discernment, and start to ordain women and queers to preside over the marriage of one queer to another. Why, ever since Jim & Tammy were the big deal "everyone knows" that Jesus doesn't want you to be horny so what's the issue with this contraception stuff anyway?
It's always a bit funny to see an optometrist with a beam hanging out of their eye lecture others about eye care but in this case it cause for a belly laugh.
