Psalm: Wednesday 44 Reading I Responsorial Psalm Gospel

Reading I
Gal 5:18-25

Brothers and sisters:
If you are guided by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
Now the works of the flesh are obvious:
immorality, impurity, licentiousness, idolatry,
sorcery, hatreds, rivalry, jealousy,
outbursts of fury, acts of selfishness,
dissensions, factions, occasions of envy,
drinking bouts, orgies, and the like.
I warn you, as I warned you before,
that those who do such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
In contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,
patience, kindness, generosity,
faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.
Against such there is no law.
Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified their flesh
with its passions and desires.
If we live in the Spirit, let us also follow the Spirit.

Responsorial Psalm
Ps 1:1-2, 3, 4 and 6

R (see Jn 8:12) Those who follow you, Lord, will have the light of life.
Blessed the man who follows not
the counsel of the wicked
Nor walks in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the company of the insolent,
But delights in the law of the LORD
and meditates on his law day and night.
R Those who follow you, Lord, will have the light of life.
He is like a tree
planted near running water,
That yields its fruit in due season,
and whose leaves never fade.
Whatever he does, prospers.
R Those who follow you, Lord, will have the light of life.
Not so the wicked, not so;
they are like chaff which the wind drives away.
For the LORD watches over the way of the just,
but the way of the wicked vanishes.
R Those who follow you, Lord, will have the light of life.

Gospel
Lk 11:42-46

The Lord said:
"Woe to you Pharisees!
You pay tithes of mint and of rue and of every garden herb,
but you pay no attention to judgment and to love for God.
These you should have done, without overlooking the others.
Woe to you Pharisees!
You love the seat of honor in synagogues
and greetings in marketplaces.
Woe to you!
You are like unseen graves over which people unknowingly walk."

Then one of the scholars of the law said to him in reply,
"Teacher, by saying this you are insulting us too."
And he said, "Woe also to you scholars of the law!
You impose on people burdens hard to carry,
but you yourselves do not lift one finger to touch them."

Prayer for the President
(will be praying heavy the Divine Mercy Chaplet tonight, but I wrote this as my special prayer)

O Lord,
O Jesus,
Heart of Mercy
You who hold the world
in the palm of your hand,
who paid such a price
in agonizing love in the Garden,
in blood as they scourged you
in pain willingly borne at the cross
to show us the way
to live,
to walk,
to care,
Be with your servant George this night,
brighten his eye with the touch of your Spirit,
strengthen his heart with the fire of your love,
fill his mouth
with the words you would have him speak,
and may each word,
action,
gesture
thought
be under your control,
under your watch
under your care.
Keep him safe in your sacred Heart.

Thank you Lord,
Ocean of Divine Mercy,
for giving us a leader who loves you,
who understands the truth of godliness
who cares that his actions, words and deeds
are more than chess pieces
in some power game
to please the ego.

I plead your blood to keep him whole,
your fire to strengthen him,
your love to guide him
this day,
and all the days he walks this earth.

O Blood and Water,
pouring from the heart of Jesus,
I trust in thee.
Have mercy on us all, O Lord,
this day and always.
Amen.

Lk 11:42-46
# Douay-Rheims Vulgate
42 But woe to you, Pharisees, because you tithe mint and rue and every herb and pass over judgment and the charity of God. Now these things you ought to have done, and not to leave the other undone. sed vae vobis Pharisaeis quia decimatis mentam et rutam et omne holus et praeteritis iudicium et caritatem Dei haec autem oportuit facere et illa non omittere
43 Woe to you, Pharisees, because you love the uppermost seats in the synagogues and salutations in the marketplace. vae vobis Pharisaeis quia diligitis primas cathedras in synagogis et salutationes in foro
44 Woe to you, because you are as sepulchres that appear not: and men that walk over are not aware. vae vobis quia estis ut monumenta quae non parent et homines ambulantes supra nesciunt
45 And one of the lawyers answering, saith to him: Master, in saying these things, thou reproachest us also. respondens autem quidam ex legis peritis ait illi magister haec dicens etiam nobis contumeliam facis
46 But he said: Woe to you lawyers also, because you load men with burdens which they cannot bear and you yourselves touch not the packs with one of your fingers. at ille ait et vobis legis peritis vae quia oneratis homines oneribus quae portari non possunt et ipsi uno digito vestro non tangitis sarcinas

Didn't we agree on your doing the Greek and the Aramaic?
