Sen. John McCain's amendment 3807 to the 9/11 Commission bill S 2845 was quietly passed late Friday afternoon by "unanmous consent" after much of the Senate had already left for the weekend. This despite a promised debate on the amendment.
Call Sen. Collins' office and demand she open McCain's amendment 3807 for further amendments. The US Senate switchboard number is 202-224-3121 . Collins' number is (202) 224-2523. FAX is (202) 224-2693 .
The 9/11 police state bill S 2845 could pass as early as tonight. If not then, a final vote is expected tomorrow.
The version of 3807 passed is very similar to Title VI of the McCain Lieberman bill S 2774, with slight changes that may (or may not) hamper the ability of the Homeland Secretary to throw up checkpoints on highways. The process for standardizing state driver's licenses into a de facto National ID card is still in place; with additional provisions for a rulemaking process.
Please forward this message and CALL SEN. COLLINS and YOUR SENATORS -- TODAY -- to express your opposition to McCain's amendment 3807.

This is totally scary.
Believe me, I'm just as cautious (and believing in) the "mark" as anyone, but all this is (as far as I understand) is just putting "national standards" if you will on drivers licences. I think it's a good thing actually, to have a national standard for a generally accepted ID, instead of having one state be really lax in how they hand out DL's, thus enabling terrorists to go there, get an ID then be able to go ANYWHERE and open up a bank account, rent cars, GET ON PLANES....
I don't like McCain, I think he's a RINO, but I like this idea.
If you really want to keep track of how the "mark" most likely will occur, keep track of the activities of a company called VeriChip. There was a thread here on FR a week ago I believe where this club in Barcelona "chipped" some of its customers so they could buy drinks more easily. They used the ID chip that VeriChip already makes for animal identification. That's a TRUE "mark ON the body".
Like another poster on this thread said, "Until they start emblazoning our ID cards on our foreheads or hands, then I'll start worrying about a National ID card".

Katherine (said she can be quoted) at Senator Collins office (202) 224-2523, said That bill S 2845 passed in the senate yesterday, Wednesday 10-6-2004, by unanimous decision. The results are Yeas 96 Nays 2. She could not confirm that Sen. John McCain's amendment 3807 was or was not added to it.

I do not doubt your sincerity, but you need to see the bigger picture. The bible tells us that there will be a one world government along with a one world religious system. If you look at this from a biblical perspective instead of a “protect us from the terrorist” perspective you will be seeing the bigger picture. Ultimately God is our protector. Which is great because God is also the one who grants us liberty. The government has convinced the American people by and large that they are the grantors of liberty. Now they are becoming our protectors in a very convincing manner. The protection of the government is bondage liberty.
