Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams |
Mom you were on this thread for a loooong time and have been back many times yourself and many of your calvinists friends have been here several times giving the gospel to Steven with passion only a calvinist can give, lets ask Steven, did either side infulence you with their version of the gospel?
This thread say friendship trumps the gospel ... and in your heart I think you know that is true.
Never has been true with me.
That is EXACTLY why Paul warns the light has NO fellowship with the darkness..
Steven and I have slapped each other all over this thread for years trying to get the truth as we believe it into each other, I hardly call that fellowship.

RnMomof7 ... you have not been around (the NES thread) enough during the last year to make this type of statement.
Unless you have read the entirety of last year's thread, you don't know the entirety of ths discussions which have gone on here.
You don't know to what extent the gospel has been shared on this thread.
OTOH, last year's (NES) participants have been here ... day in and day out. There have been significant discussions between II and each of the other participants on the thread. I don't believe that there is a current regular on this thread who has not been consistent in witnessing to his/her beliefs repeatedly. The gospel is not the only thing that been discussed, but it is one of the consistent topics of discussion. If you'd have been here ... you would know that.
I trust that God will reap from our witness whatever result He desires ...Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.I may be mistaken, but I don't recall that your previous presence on the thread resulted in great multitudes coming to Jesus ... or that your presence stopped anyone from making changes in their beliefs.
I think that you're out of line coming here and castigating anyone.
1. Whose witness came the closest to converting you to Christianity, OSAS, the trinity (the whole enchilada)
2 Who will continue to peck at you daily?
What does it matter. I believe in God now.
I'm gonna move it forward a little. covers my receeding hairline perfectly. :-)
he was looking for a church ..not looking to deny Christ.
He had alot of encouragement for other lost posters here to tip that balance..
BigMack
Yes. I'm actually an adult and can think for myself. I don't care if my wife told you otherwise. :-)
Uh. Obviously not. :-)
Actually I was converted to chrisitanity 30 years ago in vietnam. A one to one witness. Not of any denomination. On this thread I had always thought of myself as a Christian until recently so I'm not sure anyone was trying to convert me.
2 Who will continue to peck at you daily?
Well so far it seems that the Calvinists have come out of the woodwork.
Not a one mom. Not a one.
And "how many have repented and accepted Christ as their Savior as a result of Calvinists' passion"??
Not a one mom. Not a one.
If you can't see that (and I mean CLEARLY) then you've got a heck of a lot more "egotist" than "Calvinist" in you.
Kevin is a Calvinist ...
And so polite too... :-)
If Irresistible grace comes on a person by someone preaching the gospel to them as you have to Steven he according to you cannot refuse or deny Christ, so according to you he is not or never has been one of the elect. What else are you to do? And don't lay the blame on this thread the gospel has been given to Steven several times.
You're beating a dead horse here even from your own standards. Stevens made up his mind and he will have to live with it the same as we will have to live with ours.
BigMack
Just so I understand. It's your position that he WAS "saved" and is no longer?
How many have come to know Christ because of it?
Again, none "and in your heart I think you" had BETTER know it and know that it's true for any thread you feel more friendly about. But I bet thousands (ok maybe hundreds) have been exposed to the Gospel who might never have otherwise. People who never posted or we never knew were here.
The fact that the Gospel can be offensive to those who have not received it fully does not mean we have to be.
Thats exactily what has happened here, the gospel has been preached thousands of times here, its been rejected.
Have we talked about cars, motercycles, movies, family, yes and you have too. I have read most every calvinist thread here, you guys talk about other stuff too don't tell me you don't, your way off base here Mom and your calvinist pride is showing.
BigMack
There it is again.
Is that Calvin I hear spinning in his grave?
The question is to what extent your faith is in your own faith. And how much you can rely on it now? Can you say you "never really believed" what you were preaching?
The other question that Dave keeps hinting at is what you feel about those non-believers who believe in lots of OTHER "false" things and what way God uses those beliefs.
Gee you sound like another famous man that said "I wash my hands of this". You also sound more like a Calvinist than we do.
This thread presented the venue for Steve to have conversations with other apostate people and have them proselytize openly and via mail ..people he may never had met had it not been for this thread.
This thread is full of lost folks..but the conversation is good I guess .
There is a time to shake the dust from your feet , instead the enemy of the gospel is kissed and hugged.
Phl 3:18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, [that they are] the enemies of the cross of Christ:
Phl 3:19 Whose end [is] destruction, whose God [is their] belly, and [whose] glory [is] in their shame, who mind earthly things.)
