How many QBs have won at Philadelphia, getting paid far less money than McDumba**, and producing similar or even better results than McOveratedkeepinmyjobcuzi'mabro, with the same supporting cast on the o-line, backfield, on d and the special teams? And to hear that McDumba** today...what a freepin pile of crap. Same goes for Daunte Cullpepper. He's an interchangeable part up in MN as well, WAYYYYY overated!!!

Sounds like you want conservatives to act like the French and start making white flags.

Very simplistic analysis and very wrong.

The reaction Rush received is absolutely not a surprise. Of all people he should have known. That being said, we are not to shut up, or give up like the weasel French. NO! We, especially our "leaders" must understand the way things are and figure ways around that to get to our goals. Legitimate, legal ways.

After all, we are more intelligent than the libs.

Right??

And apparently in rush's eyes, what's wrong is that he is black

Oh please, there is nothing racist in the comment. He was attacking the media!

Sadly, I think you're missing the whole point.

The sports press DOES have a protective attitude toward black quarterbacks because they carry the usual "white guilt" for so many years of mostly white-only quarterbacks, along with their own failure to make any point of it.

This is an affirmative action story, disguised as a sports story.

Let folks know how you feel -
Start with the Philadelphia Eagles - if their Million dollar QB can't win and can't take criticism, he shouldn't be in the NFL

Eagles - 215 463-2500
Owner: Jeffrey Luri
President: Joe Banner

Then let Campbell's know how you feel about their spokesman taking shots when he is criticised

Campbell's Soup - 856-342-4800
Chairman: George Sherman

Finally, let the folks at ESPN know.

ESPN - 860-766-2000
President: George Bodenheimer

"Why must the conclusion be that if he is given preferential treatment, why must it be that race must be involved?"

That's the point I was trying to make above. People like players for a variety of reasons. Some players are more charasmatic and likeable than others.

Sometimes race has nothing to do with it. Rush put his foot in his mouth with his comments.

You have to know your audience. Rush obviously didn't understand his audience well enough.

Rush was defending the eagles defence on this one. Read the quote. He felt the media was giving all of the credit for the eagles success to McNabb when a good share belongs to the eagles superior defense.

There are a lot of black guys on that defense you know. But the media has no intention of promoting black defensive players.

Who gets all the attention, the endorsements, write ups in tabloids? The very white urlacher

Rush was defending blacks in my opinion.

How about Dusty Baker saying a few weeks ago that white people don't like hot weather the same as blacks?

"It took Rush all of 4 weeks to play right into the libs' hands with a politicized comment."

Maybe in your freaking genius you'd care to explain exactly what Rush's role was on the show and how he wasn't in the set-up spot to begin with? He did EXACTLY what he was hired to do, did it well, but he was a)either incredibly stupid to think he wasn't being set up or b)pussed out when the inevitable heat came down.

Well .. it's pretty hard to fight back when the boss says, you can resign or be fired.

I think I agree with you...Rush should have forced ESPN to fire him. His resignation seems to give credibility to the allegation of racism.

I'm listening to a left-wing hate-radio jock now, and he's comparing this to Dr. Laura and Michael Savage.

Oh Bull.

If you give McNabb all that credit, without realizing without a good defense the Eagles wouldn't have been in the playoffs, then you are making Rush's argument.

Steve Young, on the same ESPN show, agreed and said that "making plays" isn't the same as running an offense. If all the praise for McNabb the last two years was deserved, then all the negative talk about starting 0-3 this year rides on McNabb also.

And how is McNabb so great when he's rushing for more yards than their running backs? He waits way too long in the pocket when he shouldn't and then he over compensates with running too early when he doesn't look down field.

Rush has said the same thing about the media hyping Kurt Warner, Vinny Testeverde, and other not so great QB's.

Rush was fired. It's that simple. I'm listening as we speak to what he said on his radio show today during the 1-2 pm edt hour. He defends himself and defends against many of the same comments written here that callers made today.

He sure doesn't sound like he planned, just eleven hours later, to quit.

Yeah, so?

And Ryan Leaf was one of the best college quarterbacks ever, but when he hit the pros he suddenly sucked air and didn't make it. It happens.

No wide receivers? HA...he couldn't hit them if he did.

I watched the coverage of the 0-3 Eagles those three weeks and McNabb missed so many open receivers it's not funny.

And McNabb is written about like he's infalliable and the faults on the team are everyone elses.

It seems Rush has as much football knowledge as you. I happen to frequent the Eagles Message Boards, and I can tell you that there were a fair amount of threads talking about how bad McNabb has played this year. But the threads talking about the HORRIBLE play calling(only 21 rushes by RBs in the two loses), and the derth of talent at the WR position outnumbered Mcnabb threads about 4 to 1. Drunk ass Eagles fans can pinpoint the problem s better than Rush. Maybe he should actually do some homework instead of looking for openings to push his agenda. If he was going to say anything about race on that show, it should have been the forced interviews for Head coaching jobs based on race. This came out of left field and shows he did ZERO research on the topic.

Good post. He had to have been fired, but I wouldn't have thought him to go down without asking the question "how did I not live up to my part of the contract...doing exactly what you asked me to do...and doing it very well?"

Well, I expected this. It was a VERY STUPID thing for Rush to say.

Crap. It was an opinion nothing more. So you've bought into the PC scum pond? Isn't it time we grab our "free speech" back and flip the thought police off? Americans are now inflicted by this sludge, "better not say this or that". It's time we grabbed our right to free speech and F the libs and their PC. Why do we cow tow to them? Time to fight the b**tards and tell them to ShutTheFU.
