I think when they said "no terrorism," they meant no bombs, airplanes, grenades, or mortars, etc. What they cannot know is whether someone had taken control of a key computer and simply altered a few control settings. Did you see the post about the Valley Forge grid station operator wondering why the outage wasn't stopped sooner by the computers in NY and Canada? This cascaded way out of control too fast. I can't imagine the system being engineered to allow this, given the ability of computers to react quickly. But, maybe Homer Simpson was on duty today.

Footlocker looted.Suddenly I have this mental image of their clerks in referee shirts whistling and signalling fouls.

Two more conservative voters (Cal has sent plenty of liberal voters up here). Actually, I think there is the strong liklihood I will be...offer's a good one and you can't beat the climate in Sonoma.

Niagara Falls! Slowly I turned...step by step...inch by inch... I think I have a pretty good sense of humor, but for the life of me I have never understood that one. It's from a radio program, The Shadow. Not sure how it applies here tonight but I think if you read this whole thread it would be easy to figure out!

I'll bet it's almost fun up there in NY ---people making it a point to do some partying --- just have a good time about it. No point sitting and griping about the darkness --- just light a candle and enjoy it.

Oh hell, anyone can take out power grids - I knew how to do it by the time I was 12, thanks to all the left wing guerilla training manuals a socialist uncle gave me when I was a kid... ;0)

It was approximately, within a few minutes, of this posted time when the LIRR train came to a halt. At first , I thought we'd hit something on the tracks.
I am grateful that I wasn't on the subway that I was going to take in the next 10 minutes.
And I'll be eternally grateful to a taxi driver whose name was "Sidiki" for driving me 50 miles to my car at the Ronkonkoma Train station for only 40 bucks. There is no way I'd otherwise have gotten home, because there were no trains and for the fact that there are no buses that run as far out as I live. The cell phones weren't working either.
We just got electric back in my area 10 minutes ago. An hour ago it came back on, but went back out after about 5 minutes.

Hey---I resemble that remark!

I agree with you, I'm open-minded. :) It's sensible to consider all the possibilities, "benign" (if a massive power outage cause can be benign!) and otherwise.
Just want to make sure the gov't treats us that same open-minded way and doesn't immediately seek to calm us like a bunch of children...I remember when there was the 4th of July shooting at LAX a year ago, they were saying "It's not terrorism" just about the minute broadcasters had the story.

NBC is reporting on several looting incidents in New York City. One of them has apparently resulted in 24 arrests.

I am really begining to suspect a multi point failure. Now, what would cause that?Envioronmental Wackos that lobby Congress to pass laws that made it so expensive to construct power plants that power companies could not get a return on the cost of construction.
And don't forget to thank them for the wild fires that have ravaged our forests because clear cutting has been banned.

I think I have a pretty good sense of humor, but for the life of me I have never understood that one. Can you help? From a Three Stooges movie, I forget which one...

Well, while the Canadians are looting in Ottawa, apparently New Yorkers are content to flaunt the smoking ban.
I don't want to hear any more about how uncivilized and violent we are here in the States, compared to the wonerful Canadians. HA!

Mmmmm, donuts.

Isn't it amazing how Canada has listed all the causes that happened in the US?I have a suspicious mind about this.

FOX stating Penn station crowds have been standing without food or water or bathrooms for almost 7 hours.
Reporting crowds are are growing angry in the area, Taxis running out of gas..............

On a radio appearance tonight (gee, she was busy) Hillary was jokingly asked if she has a generator at her place. She breezily admitted that she does. The Secret Service guys sentenced to Chappaqua need it.
To: CedarDave
Crown Heights, eh? Well, we all know it must be the Hasidic Jews doing the looting.
