Well by our standard out here, a 9 hour power outage doesn't seem like much. After the ice storm a few years ago, we were out of power for 5 days.

In New Hampshire, as a kid, we'd go days without power too - always in the winter. Thank god for woodstoves...

Cold showers sucked, though...

I realize this is a big one .. but it's not like this is the FIRST time this country has had the power go out.

This is the biggest outage in US history though. Millions without power at the same time, affecting airports, hotels, transportation, water and everything else you can imagine. I've refrained from using this word before, but I have to say, I think this is HUGH!!

The Three Stooges incorporated it into their short feature, Gents Without Cents. In this episode, the Stooges are out-of-work actors who meet three dancing girls in similar circumstances. They all get a job in a show, where they perform the routine. The Stooges marry the ladies and honeymoon in (where else?) Niagara Falls. This time, Curly is the Stooge who exclaims "Niagara Falls!" making himself the target of Moe and Larry's wrath.

Sure it is! People in NYC are looking up at the sky, and wondering "Are THOSE the Thousand Points of Light' that Bush Sr. told us about?"
