I didn't even catch the sarcasm there. Unfortunatly nowadays, it's too hard to tell.

...as a matter of fact, I'm going to start trumpeting that fact: Olympia Snowe rated a 65 voting record with American Conservative Union last year, while Barbara Boxer rated a 5....And people say there isn't any difference between a "RINO" and a Democrat.

I don't care about tactical finesse. At this moment all I want is a Republican Landslide and a mandate to dump liberalism! This is a major nuke strike against marxism!JimRob, we have GOP control of both houses and GOP control of the White House. And spending is spiraling out of control. The GOP seems to have adapted a philosophy of winning more seats by ... co-opting Dem positions, largely because they seem to believe that they can take the vote of their base for granted. So what do we fiscal conservatives gain by such a co-option approach? Larger government, which is EXACTLY the opposite of the goal you just stated.
So if you don't watch your tactics, your strategy will net you a Pyrrhic victory. The GOP will be lords and masters of ever-larger government.

Agreed, Jim. An army first has to take the beach before it can liberate the continent. Right now, we're fighting through the hedgerows. 2004 could be a break-out election, and all subsequent elections could then represent significant retreats of liberalism.

An army first has to take the beach before it can liberate the continent. Well, in this case, the GOP army seems to be destroying the village to save it.

Fom what I read he did not leave voluntarily, but as Bush is a classy guy (a state of mind a grandstanding egotist like Frum will never understand), he allowed him to say (pretend) he was leaving voluntarily to save face.

The vast majority of Americans agree with Buchanan on immigration. A majority agree with him on affirmative action. A majority agree with him on school prayer.I'll acknowledge that. So answer me this: Why isn't Buchanan President?

Hagel was a combat vet who stated his opposition to this war with humility and respectfully (two characteristics alien to the likes of Frum). I think that experience gives folks a perspective that should be respected....not necessarily agreed with, but respected.
You really think a self-serving twerp like Frum has the right to challenge his patriotism?....Please explain how.

That's for sure -- Feinstein and Boxer are horrible Senators! Snowe and Collins would be a huge improvement including both are very nice!

Actually, it's Frum's who is clutching fantasies, pretensions and delusions...you might want to round up a few friends to hold the blanket at street level in case he loses grip and plummets. ;o)

No one should discount "nice." Barbara Boxer is one of the most shrill people in American politics. She is uncivil and fanatical in her rhetoric. Even by California standards, she is an extremist, both in position and in tone.

So, you were there, in the White House, on staff, when David Frum left his position. This explains how you know so much about it, I gather.

Hagel is always polite -- will give him that. I just don't like his ideas and his approach -- so what does being a veteran have to do with that? Absolutely nothing!
You might as well say that those of us who never served have no right to an opinion on the War on Terrorism or War to remove Saddam!
You have mixed up apples and oranges with your convuluted reasoning -- I don't appreciate Hagel's voting record, his attacks on the President (even if polite), and his stand against our involvement in Iraq. Personally I think he is probably a nice guy as that is the way he comes across.
But that doesn't mean I have to agree with him because he served in Vietnam. Kerry served in Vietnam as well and I have zero, zip, nada respect for him.

When I have heard on the floor of the Senate, it is like someone scratching a blackboard with fingernails. Nice and Boxer don't seem to fit in the same sentence.

Aw, it happens.
I tried to explain it this way once. The US government is a big ship. So big that you cannot ignore what it does. Even holing up in a hut in the wilderness is no guarantee that ship won't eventually run over you (ex. Ruby Ridge). You can leave it for a while, sitting in a lifeboat of "principles" if it makes it feel better, but eventually you get hit.
I'm trying to get the ship to turn. I can't do it from a lifeboat. It's not easy doing it while taking fire from friendlies.

B/S. And what is your alternative? Reinstall the liberal Democrats?
And who will they appoint to the court? And what will that buy us? Forty more years of wandering through a liberal wasteland, that's what.
End it, dammit! Dump the Democrats!
Get a filibuster proof Senate, a conservative court and start cleaning house! The Rinos can be weeded out in the primaries as we go. Continue recruiting the very best conservative blood up through the farm teams as possible. Eventually, as we continue replacing liberals and rinos, etc, the government and the courts will become less and less liberal and more and more conservative.
If we work hard and work together long enough and keep the liberal Democrats out of power for enough cycles, we can achieve an overturn of marxism and a reversal of the socialist trends. It is possible and there IS NO other way to do it! If there was another way, someone would've laid a plan on us by now. There is no third party plan. Just smoke and mirrors.
Ronald Reagan had a vision of defeating communism. No one, and I mean no one believed it could be done. But he did not give in and did not give up and it came to pass. If he were in office today, I'm sure he would agree that liberalism/marxism within our own government can be defeated just as well, if we have the will and if we stick to our guns!
If we had to wait for the third parties to do something about marxism, we'd all be dead and gone and our grand children would all be dead and gone long before they (the third parties) even become a minority in the House of Representatives. C'mon, the third party utopia is a pipe dream. It ain't gonna happen.
You've got to take the Democrats on head first and with full force. It's going to take a huge effort to replace them and a huge and sustained voter turnout from the populace, not some one percenter pied piper. And it's not going to be easy (or pretty for that matter), but it can be done!

An army first has to take the beach before it can liberate the continent.Well, as a graduate of Amphibious Warfare School, permit me to point out that the objective of a landing is to defeat the enemy's battle plan - not co-opt it. With the exception of taxes and the war, when the hell is the GOP going to stop calling in fire on our own positions?
