Some Maine Teachers Traumatizing Students of Deployed Soldiers

WABI TV reported Friday that the Maine National Guard Family Assistance Center has received about 30 complaints from children of deployed soldiers concerning Principals, Teachers and Guidance Counselors reportedly demeaning the role of their deployed parent. Some children involved are 7 to 9 years of age.

Here is a letter written to a friend of mine from the Maine Army National Guard:

"Thank you for your interest on this most troubling matter. Our Family Assistance Centers have reported cases from Aroostook County to Southern Maine. We are reluctant to give out specific schools and the individuals involved in the interest of giving the education community a chance to address the problem itself. Also, parents wanted the opportunity to pursue the issue through their local school boards first.

In all, we have over thirty complaints that name schools and individual principals, teachers and guidance counselors. If one considers that these complaints come from just the parents who attended our briefings and only from children who told their parents, we are concerned that the problem may be more widespread than we know.

We are recording the complaints, and I will personally visit these educators to express our concern as a professional organization and ask for their cooperation.

Ultimately, our main concern and first responsibility is the safety of our children during these uncertain times. Maine has a core of dedicated and professional educators, but we will challenge any individual who places our children at risk due to their own political ideologies."

This is a self-solving problem. A statewide class action in federal court is coming under the federal civil rights law. The teachers involved are acting under color of official right.

Maine is about to have approximately 1% of its school budget devoted for years to instructing teachers to obey the law as part of the injunctive relief. In addition to damages and attorney fees.

Agree......Let the guys deployed know we have their backs here at home per se.....I just got off the phone with one of my polidiots elves and he sounded like I was interupting his doughnut break....aka ho humm ect ect.

I asked if I need to come down there in person to better communicate my point to him and he declined and said I'd be contacted . I told him if it was a placating form letter I'd post it on every telephone pole in town that said polidiot passively supported terrorizing kids in America by not using his position to bring the issue to justice.

It's one thing for some POS on the street to yell his opinion. Quite different when a teacher betrays a trust with a child in a captive audience to scare and try to demean the kid versus the parents work they don't like. Somebody needs their butt kicked for this. Hopefully its a parent, deployed or not. If they attack Sgt Jones child when he's gone they show their true colors as to what they think and want to do with your child but are afraid to do or say while your "not deployed" per se.....

I'll bet a cool drink that same tribe of socialsit teachers hasn't gotten on little Mary because her Moms a crack whore or Johhny because his Dad is a doctor who performs abortions.

Time to try and stop such an attack on Kids of "our troops".......Stay Safe !

The majority of teachers / professors I had in college were drop outs from the profession. Basically they couldn't gut it in the real world and then spent there twisted views on the students.

Don't get me wrong there are allot of good teachers out there. Id say about 10% or so

We need to let the left know that while a mom or dad is called up for active duty, we are adopting the children of these service people. Then we will not allow any mentally ill person pretending to be a teacher, a principle or superintendent or a mayor to threaten or harass these innocent children.

If they don't remove these school terrorists, we will remove them from the class rooms. Then, we will sue for the chilrun.

By standing together and saying NO! We have allowed the nea to dictate for far too long now. There are a number of things we can do. Petition, homeschooling and private schooling to eliminate funds, I know it's an almost impossible task but we need to try.

Mobilization largest in more than 60 years
AUGUSTA - The largest wartime mobilization of Maine Army National Guard troops in more than 60 years is under way as three Guard units in Maine prepare to assist in a possible war against Iraq.Lt. Col. John R. Mosher, executive officer of the 52nd troop command of the Maine Army National Guard, said about 650 men and women are being deployed from units based in Bangor, Augusta and Sanford.
The 112th Medical Company out of Bangor was the first Guard unit deployed in Maine when it mobilized last week.
The 1136th Transportation Company of Bangor and Sanford has been issued a tentative mobilization date of early next week. The 1136th will be in charge of hauling water, fuel and other cargo across a variety of terrain.
The 152nd Maintenance Company out of Augusta and Bangor, with troops borrowed from the 133rd Engineering Company of Skowhegan, also has been put on alert, officials said.
The 152nd will be responsible for maintaining and operating heavy trucks, forklifts and field generators.
"It's the largest wartime mobilization since 1939," Mosher said. "Even larger than Desert Storm."
In a related matter, 27 members of the 265th Combat Communications Squadron, Maine Air National Guard, were deployed early Saturday morning to Al Jaber Air Base in Kuwait.
They will support power production, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and postal operations requirements for the command structure at the air base.
The Air Guard members expect to remain overseas for 90 days or until released by the theater commander.
About 200 Maine National Guard troops were called up during the 1991 Gulf War against Iraq. In contrast, about 1,200 troops were deployed in Maine after the ice storm in January 1998.
National Guard soldiers train one weekend a month and for two weeks during the calendar year. They range in age from 18 to 55, and serve in roles ranging from truck drivers and mechanics to Black Hawk helicopter pilots and field combatants.
Mosher said some could be stationed at bases in the United States, while others could be sent overseas. All will be deployed for a year or more.
Mosher said about half of Maine's guardsmen come from central Maine towns and cities.
"You have a lot more of an idealistic view in rural America," Mosher said. "The traditional values that soldiers tend to embrace come from small-town America."
