Some Maine Teachers Traumatizing Students of Deployed Soldiers

WABI TV reported Friday that the Maine National Guard Family Assistance Center has received about 30 complaints from children of deployed soldiers concerning Principals, Teachers and Guidance Counselors reportedly demeaning the role of their deployed parent. Some children involved are 7 to 9 years of age.
Here is a letter written to a friend of mine from the Maine Army National Guard:
"Thank you for your interest on this most troubling matter. Our Family Assistance Centers have reported cases from Aroostook County to Southern Maine. We are reluctant to give out specific schools and the individuals involved in the interest of giving the education community a chance to address the problem itself. Also, parents wanted the opportunity to pursue the issue through their local school boards first.
In all, we have over thirty complaints that name schools and individual principals, teachers and guidance counselors. If one considers that these complaints come from just the parents who attended our briefings and only from children who told their parents, we are concerned that the problem may be more widespread than we know.
We are recording the complaints, and I will personally visit these educators to express our concern as a professional organization and ask for their cooperation.
Ultimately, our main concern and first responsibility is the safety of our children during these uncertain times. Maine has a core of dedicated and professional educators, but we will challenge any individual who places our children at risk due to their own political ideologies."

No suprise.
Radio talk-show host Dennis Prager had a lady caller who said that she and her
small son had been pointedly informed by some of her ultra-tolerant liberal
neighbors that if her deployed Army husband is injured or killed in war with
Iraq he (bascially) "will have gotten what he deserved".
This gave Prager opportunity to quote a bit of Jewish wisdom he occassionally cites:
(IIRC) "Those who are kind to the cruel...will be cruel to the kind."
Today's anti-war/anti-Dubya/Pro-Saddam protestors fit this category to a "T".

Interesting comment. Back when I was a public school teacher and discovered what the union was all about, I quit the union. (I seriously doubt if many teachers even bother to know what their union is up to politcially--) I was the only teacher in my district to be independent of the union and I tell you they did not make life easy.

Despite their other flaws, they have both been traditionally very pro-military. RW a little editing if you don't mind....Despite their obvious despicable horrendous views on abortion, they have both been traditionally very pro-military. (just can't refer to their past pro-death voting record as --"flaws". Otherwise a great comment and idea)

The Govenor of Maine might now be out of the chain of command for the Guard, but I believe he is still in the chain of command for the teachers. Full court press on the gov all the way down that chain, and may it gather speed as it flows down hill!

And these are the very people who preach "peace" and "for the children." They are the biggest bunch of hypocrites on this earth. Actually, I don't even think we can label them hypocrites. They know what they are doing and they mean to do just that.
I can tell you too if my child was harassed there would be a price to pay as that is something I would not stand for either. They should keep this up. If anything this just might be the thing that is going to rile up the "sleeping giants."
I would also be sure to tell my child/children over and over and over again how brave and courageous their mommy, daddy, brother, sister, uncle, aunt or whomever is for going to a place like Iraq to free those people from a madman like Sadaam. I would be sure to tell them that those people will be thanking whatever military memember the child is related to. I would hang my flag every day with my children by my side and I would lower it with them in the same manner, instilling an even deeper pride and love for their relative and our country.
I wonder if these chicken doo doos would say these kinds of things to a child if they knew there were people in the wings listening who were NOT ANTI AMERICAN! I think not because as you said they would get the snot beat out of them. Just goes to show you though they pick and chose their attack areas...yellow belly low life.
Be proud children of all your relatives in the military. They are your heroes and ours too!

Maine is a very liberal state... Gotta disagree. Maine is a very blue-collar state with a Republican Party that workers would be screwing themselves to vote for; they'd still get big government but all the rewards would go to management instead of labor.
This lets the liberals who run the Democrats have things pretty much their own way; but most of Mainers are culturally pretty conservative.

From Webster's Dictionary
Treason 2. violation of the allegiance owed to ones sovereign or state; betrayal of ones country, specif., in the U.S. (as declared in the Constitution), consisting only in levying war against the U.S. or in GIVING AID AND COMFORT TO ITS ENEMIES Syn. see sedition
If this is not giving aid and comfort to the enemy, I don't know what is

Maybe it is just me but I see more and more a shift from polemics to simple black and white, bad versus good across the board with liberals these days. Does no good to argue with them, to reason. They all are closed, acting in union as if all the world of liberals from the Middle East, to France to Augusta are smoking the same weed, spouting the same worn platitudes.
They are all starting to sound the same as if they all report to an evil deity.
I have come to not deal with them but to treat those warily as true adversaries to that I believe good and the love of our America. I can only hope as many decent parents as possible pull their kids from public indoctrination centers and homeschool.

Thanks for the post. I have written GG Liddy and Sean Hannity about this. Hope they deal with it on their programs!
Someone above was speaking of our soldiers liberating the people of Iraq. They are certainly doing that, but Mr TEXOKIE is wanting me to post the point that it is a bigger picture than that. The most fundamental reason we are probably going to go to Iraq is because there is a madman there with Weapons of Mass Destruction who HATES us and wants to KILL us! We are going there to preserve our own safety as well as the safety of the culture of Western Civilization....and along the way liberating oppressed peoples. Mr TEXOKIE says, "REMEMBER 9/11!"
We are both appalled at this latest report of skullduggery from the left. There is absolutely no excuse for this deplorable behavior toward innocent children. We agree that this story MUST be kept bumped!
