FReepers: Now's the time. Stand up and be counted. The C-in-C needs our help…

URGENT: The Commander-in-Chief needs our help. Our brave military needs our support. Heck, America needs our leadership.

We’re in a very real, potentially very hot war not of our choosing, but one that each one of us has a responsibility to help win. We on the center-Right to Right side of the political spectrum cannot afford to cede the public relations aspects of this war to the Left — and to the terrorists and tyrants the Leftists coddle with their stupid protests. Unlike the 1960’s, if we sit back and don’t respond to the Left, this time we may very well sign our own death warrants — and those of our children and grandchildren. We simply cannot let the enemy win.

Yesterday, Hollywood Leftist mouthpiece, Mike Farrell, was on the Sean Hannity radio program. In response to a caller who tried her best to tell him off, he issued a challenge. In his most condescending, scornful, smug manner, he essentially told her to go out and organize her own protests if she didn’t like what he and his fellow travelers were doing.

OK! Fine. For the last several days I’ve been having a little debate with myself as to whether or not to try to start what I would call the "Six Little Words" campaign. Finally decided that, instead of "grumbling in my beer" about the likes of Mr. Farrell, or taking my anger out on the family and dogs, I decided he’s right. It’s time to take up Farrell’s challenge. Perhaps he unwittingly awoke a sleeping giant: Americans everywhere who oppose the Left’s agenda. Or perhaps not. We shall see.

We on the Right tend not to go out in the streets and protest. But can we at least rouse ourselves to do something very easy, very inexpensive, and very quick to make OUR voices heard? How, you ask? With "Six Little Words" that just may help save our civilization.

It’s time for you, and I, and everyone who understands the danger, to stand up and be counted. It’s time to see what we're really made of — after all, if the hijackings and anthrax atrocities of Sept. and Oct. 2001, and the sniper attacks last year, have taught us anything, it is that we are all on the front lines in this war.

Pick up a pen or pencil, take a piece of paper and write: IRAQ: I SUPPORT YOU, MR. PRESIDENT. Put the paper in an envelope, seal it, slap a stamp on it, and mail it to:

President George W. Bush
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20500

DO NOT USE EMAIL TO CONTACT THE WHITE HOUSE. Handwritten letters are still the most effective way to contact our elected officials. Volume emails (spam) just pile up and often are deleted without being read. There is still no substitute for millions of pieces of mail arriving at the Presidential offices.

Be sure to send the letters to the WHITE HOUSE, not Congress. Congress is out of this now, since they already authorized the President to take all necessary action. They are not likely to take up another resolution. However, if you’re in the mood, make COPIES of your "Six Little Words" letter to the President and send ONE EACH to your member of Congress and your state’s two senators. If you don’t know who they are or where to address the envelopes, look here: House. and Senate.

Then talk to, phone and/or email your family, friends, business associates, neighbors, local political clubs, and anyone else you can think of, and urge them to do the same. It should not be one letter per household, but one letter for each person in the household old enough to sign their own name.

So what if the Left can turn out millions in the streets. Each and every one of us has the power to counter them. We FReepers should be able to generate millions of "Six Little Words" letters to the President with even a small effort.

Wolfstar, yesterday I sent our good President an e-mail expressing full support for him, his administration and the brave and courageous men and women in our great military.

I know he will never see it, but he surely knows as I know that there exists in the hearts and minds of lovers of this blessed country who also know that our forefathers and more often than not with great physical exertion and ultimate sacrifice handed the torch of freedom to us intact and that in order for generations of future Americans to be able to pursue happiness, live in peace, prosperity, freedom and liberty it is up to us to not shirk our duties and obligation as citizens but to embrace all we can to protect and defend our nation, her people and our way of life.

I would be ashamed if I did not. For how can we look at our children when their freedom is no longer their birthright? Saying I'm sorry just ain't gonna ease their pain and our sorrow.

God, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. Amen.

I received this prayer in an email from a very liberal cousin who is starting to come to the party.

"PECANS IN THE CEMETERY --From Janice"

On the outskirts of a small town, there was a big, old pecan tree
just inside the cemetery fence. One day, two boys filled up a bucketful
of nuts and sat down by the tree, out of sight, and began dividing the nuts.

"One for you, one for me. One for you, one for me," said one boy.
Several dropped and rolled down toward the fence. Another boy came
riding along the road on his bicycle. As he passed, he thought he heard
voices from inside the cemetery. He slowed down to investigate. Sure
enough, he heard, "One for you, one for me. One for you, one for me."

He just knew what it was. "Oh my", he shuddered, it's Satan and
the Lord dividing the souls at the cemetery. He jumped back on his bike and rode off.

Just around the bend he met an old man with a cane, hobbling along.

"Come here quick," said the boy, "you won't believe what I heard!
Satan and the Lord are down at the cemetery dividing up the souls."

The man said, "Beat it kid, can't you see it's hard for me to walk."

When the boy insisted though, the man hobbled to the cemetery.
Standing by the fence they heard, "One for you, one for me. One for you, one for me..."

The old man whispered, "Boy, you've been tellin' the truth. Let's
see if we can see the Lord himself." Shaking with fear, they peered through
the fence, yet were still unable to see anything. The old man and the boy
gripped the wrought iron bars of the fence tighter and tighter as they tried to get a glimpse of the Lord.

At last they heard, "One for you, one for me." And one last "One
for you, one for me. That's all. Now let's go get those nuts by the fence, and we'll be done."

... They say the old man made it back to town a full 5 minutes ahead of the boy on the bike.

I figure if they're old enough to write, include them.

Absolutely. Besides, it's a good civics lesson for a youngster your daughter's age.

Harpo11, thanks for the great graphic and the quote from the man I consider to be our greatest president, George Washington. Since 9/11/01, I've been on a tear reading everything I can get my hands on about the founding period. So Washington's words at this time, and on this thread, are particularly poignant to me.

Beautifully stated. Our Dubya is a very interesting man. Although he was born to wealth and a prominent family, he is very much a "regular guy," very much at ease with people from all stations in life. In almost every speech since 9/11, he has appealed to people to become involved in something greater than themselves.

Some years ago, he became acquainted with a troubled boy (African American) who's father was in prison. Dubya did all he could to help the boy, and that child has stayed in his heart. Whenever he can work it into a speech, to this day the President appeals to people to help mentor a child who has a parent in prison. Remarkable that he has such a loving and loyal heart.

Something you might keep in mind: although the President may never personally see your email or any of the letters of support we send to him, every White House has volunteers and staff who make a compendium of what the mails contain, and report that info to the President. He will know the volume of mail for or against the major issues of the day, and may even see a few representative samples. So your point of view, if not the specifics of what you wrote, will definitely make it to the President's personal attention.
