SUPPORT OUR TROOPS - Patriots Rally for America IV - Saturday, March 1, 2003, Washington, D.C.
DC Chapter of Free Republic ^ | February 18, 2003 | Angelwood and Kristinn

Posted on 02/18/2003 8:35:34 PM PST by Angelwood

This is important. Drop what you’re doing. Pack the car, get on a plane, a train, a bus or start walking. Our troops need your support right now! They’re laying it on the line for us overseas and all they are seeing in the media is hundreds of thousands of anti-war/anti-American demonstrators marching in our streets.

As evidenced by this article Anti-war Protests Anger U.S. Troops Inside Kuwait those demonstrations are starting to affect morale. You can do something about that, but it will take time, effort and sacrifice -- a modest sacrifice compared to our men and women in uniform waiting for the the word to take out Saddam and his tyrannical terrorist regime.

The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic urges all FReepers and lurkers in good standing, as well as their friends and families, veterans and their friends and families and all others who want to stand up for America and support our troops to join us in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, March 1, 2003 for the Patriots Rally for America IV from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m at the outdoor Sylvan Theater on the grounds of the Washington Monument.

As the United States prepares to take the next step in the war on terrorism with probable action in Iraq, it is imperative that we get out and show support for our troops, our Commander-in-Chief and all that’s good about America.

Our troops are there to give their lives if necessary in order to prevent another 9-11 from happening to us. Now more than ever, they need to see your support back home. Please don’t let them down.

We are asking you to bring large American and Gadsden flags. Also, signs bearing messages supporting America, our troops, our Commander-in-Chief and the war on terrorism.

That same day, anti-American leftists will be holding an "anti-war" rally and march in D.C. The "anti-war" rally, organized by IAC-A.N.S.W.E.R. , a front group for the communist World Workers Party, will be held on the Mall near the Capitol Building between 3rd Street and 7th Street, N.W. The organizers have permitted other sites as staging areas for many in their group to assemble and then march to the main event. Some of these staging areas include: Constitution Gardens by the Vietnam War Memorial, the Northeast quadrant of the Washington Monument, and Freedom Plaza at 14th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W.

Another group has plans to assemble in the DuPont Circle area and march to Constitution Avenue, N.W. between 17th and 23rd Streets.

We do not expect any trouble from those groups. Law enforcement officers will be everywhere to keep the peace and ensure that everyone’s rights are respected.

As always, the D.C. Chapter's rules for demonstrating will be in effect. Briefly, they are: No violence, no racism, no profanity, no threats, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect.

When: Saturday, March 1, 2003 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., rain or shine.

Where: The Sylvan Theater, located on the south side of the Washington Monument grounds at Independence Avenue and 15th Street, S.W.

Good morning! It's a beautiful day. We've got some leaflets to pass out to folks on the Mall before the rally. Other than that, we're all set for a good show!

Angelwood is on site. The sound people are setting up. I'm getting ready to go. The snow's not so bad. The sidewalks are clear and there's just a couple inches on the ground. Come on out and let the troops overseas know we support them 100%.

I may have even convinced a nice lady that I spent 10 or so minutes talking to that going into Iraq to take out Saddam Hussein was a good idea. I reminded her that the monumental lapse of judgement the world showed towards Hitler in the late 1930's led to about 50,000,000 needless deaths, and that if we let Saddam Hussein stay alive, the results could be even more catastrophic than that.

She promised to reconsider her position, and said she would attend the Rally tomorrow. I do hope she shows up.

Nice, work, Tax. Our job is to do the footwork and not be concerned with the outcome, in a sense. IOW, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink!

They'll post an official after-action thread and you all will be pinged to it and a link will be made in this thread.

CSPAN already as a product ID number for our rally. I think they may be waiting so we can tell people when the CSPAN broadcast will be.

We should know soon.

I checked Local TV news since Channel 7 and 9 (ABC and CBS) film crews showed up. Nothing on the early news, so look to 11 local news for anything on the rally.

Washington Post since a columnist and a reporter. Look for a hard news story tomorrow and also a column by columnist Marc Fisher.

Washington Times sent two people.

Newsmax of course. GOPUSA news. And more.

Keep checking. My guess is that they show up just in case something happens. Then the editing honcho leaves their story out on purpose. Nothing new.

Thanks for the picture. My name is on the bottom of the "Don't tread on me" banner in the background. And proud of it.

CSPAN2 is basically all books and CSPAN3 is all history on the weekends. This leaves little programming room for the weekends. They may fit us in later? Gee, remember once they broadcast it without updating the schedule?? Maybe I should just put in a 6 hour tape at midnight tonight. I'll do that.

I'm going to try to record local news now.

You guys did a great job. It's great that we had a separate rally without the leftists. Really good work. LOL, and Kristinn I'm not even going to ask you who's idea the snowman was!! WhoseEVER idea it was, it was great to have a patriotic snowman with a flag in our snow-laden midst.

Bump for the leaders.

Just saw Kristinn interviewed on the local news. Didn't notice which channel it was. He gave a good, clear and concise message about the danger of Saddam plus WMDs. After Kristinn, the station showed some "Black Voices for Peace" or some such, going on elsewhere in DC.

DC Rally BTTT! BTW Kristinn, I printed out your wonderful George Bush Uncle Sam graphic and used it on my sign. Many, many people commented on it and can hardly wait to come to FR to check it out. Thank you!

Roger that. Kristinn owned a snippet on local ABC news affiliate at 11 pm. He was followed by Rev. Fauntroy, who was a part of some ministers-for-peace gathering that occurred today.

Nothing on Channel 29 (CBS news), Kristinn -- although their cameras did show up.

I put my VCR on record for 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. in case CSPAN does one of those unannounced scheduling changes.

Hang in there Mol. There will be an official after action report coming. From what direction, I have no clue.

But, it was great. A little snow on the ground, no problem. Bob Dornan was on fire today. All great speakers. Wonderful after dinner at Luigi's.

That sums it it up. I too am waiting for the report.
