SUPPORT OUR TROOPS - Patriots Rally for America IV - Saturday, March 1, 2003, Washington, D.C.
DC Chapter of Free Republic ^ | February 18, 2003 | Angelwood and Kristinn

Posted on 02/18/2003 8:35:34 PM PST by Angelwood

This is important. Drop what you’re doing. Pack the car, get on a plane, a train, a bus or start walking. Our troops need your support right now! They’re laying it on the line for us overseas and all they are seeing in the media is hundreds of thousands of anti-war/anti-American demonstrators marching in our streets.

As evidenced by this article Anti-war Protests Anger U.S. Troops Inside Kuwait those demonstrations are starting to affect morale. You can do something about that, but it will take time, effort and sacrifice -- a modest sacrifice compared to our men and women in uniform waiting for the the word to take out Saddam and his tyrannical terrorist regime.

The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic urges all FReepers and lurkers in good standing, as well as their friends and families, veterans and their friends and families and all others who want to stand up for America and support our troops to join us in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, March 1, 2003 for the Patriots Rally for America IV from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m at the outdoor Sylvan Theater on the grounds of the Washington Monument.

As the United States prepares to take the next step in the war on terrorism with probable action in Iraq, it is imperative that we get out and show support for our troops, our Commander-in-Chief and all that’s good about America.

Our troops are there to give their lives if necessary in order to prevent another 9-11 from happening to us. Now more than ever, they need to see your support back home. Please don’t let them down.

We are asking you to bring large American and Gadsden flags. Also, signs bearing messages supporting America, our troops, our Commander-in-Chief and the war on terrorism.

That same day, anti-American leftists will be holding an "anti-war" rally and march in D.C. The "anti-war" rally, organized by IAC-A.N.S.W.E.R. , a front group for the communist World Workers Party, will be held on the Mall near the Capitol Building between 3rd Street and 7th Street, N.W. The organizers have permitted other sites as staging areas for many in their group to assemble and then march to the main event. Some of these staging areas include: Constitution Gardens by the Vietnam War Memorial, the Northeast quadrant of the Washington Monument, and Freedom Plaza at 14th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W.

Another group has plans to assemble in the DuPont Circle area and march to Constitution Avenue, N.W. between 17th and 23rd Streets.

We do not expect any trouble from those groups. Law enforcement officers will be everywhere to keep the peace and ensure that everyone’s rights are respected.

As always, the D.C. Chapter's rules for demonstrating will be in effect. Briefly, they are: No violence, no racism, no profanity, no threats, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect.

When: Saturday, March 1, 2003 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., rain or shine.

Where: The Sylvan Theater, located on the south side of the Washington Monument grounds at Independence Avenue and 15th Street, S.W.

I'm not going to be able to make it after all. My parents were in a bad car accident last night and my mother isn't doing very well. I don't want to travel hours from home while she's still touch-and-go.

I just know this is going to be a great rally. I'll be thinking of you guys tomorrow, and looking for reports.

I'll say some prayers for your Mother -- you need to be by her side at this time. Take care and keep in touch.

Pretty picture. :) Of course, the American Bald Eagles have those razor-sharp talons, don't they?

Right you are.

Bald Eagles have soft feathers for their friends, but razor-sharp steel talons for enemies. Soon Saddam & his henchmen will feel the talons delivering steel and fire.

I said that you, REPUBLIC, C.H., JVB, KRISTINN and FTH handing out leaflets in the snow was a Gathering of Eagles in the Snow.

FTH was clearly the middle eagle with the "PRESS TABLE ATTITUDE," but I have yet to identify the other two eagles. I do know that you and they are all patriots that I am proud to stand with.

I just have to take a moment and say a little something aboout the rally planning meeting of DC Chapter of Free Republic last Saturday...

The meeting was one of the best-attended meetings that we have had. And there were some very, very good ideas from DC Chapter members on ways to get the word out to the public about this rally. Doctor Raoul's idea, what Taxman was referring to, was to assign folks who said the were willing, and had access to a telephone for a specified block of time - so that he (or she) could dial and redial the assigned radio talk show, increasing our chances to get a plug in for the rally.

DC Chapter members who handled the phone call assignments were (IIRC) GunsareOK, BillF, Jimmy Valentine's brother, Doctor Raoul, BufordP, L_von_mises, dagnabbit (?), Taxman, and?? I was busy writing down the phone numbers on slips of paper as fast as Doc was handing them out, so I know I missed some folks who volunteered to take on the DC Chapter phone duty.

To all of them I say "Thank you."

But really, everyone in the DC Chapter has been toiling late into the night for a few weeks now, to make this rally happen, and I have to say that they are all some of the finest folks a person could know. I love you guys!

Angelwood, Kristinn... when this is all over, can we do a group hug?

Salute to the USMM and its Academy. You will be missed tomorrow.

The USMM wrote many pages into the book of bravery in WWII.

An internet "friend" of mine established the WWII US Navy Armed Guard and Merchant Marine web page.

With my permission, he used an article that I wrote titled "The Great Generation" about the WWII generation. [My article came out before Brokaw's "Greatest Generation" book on the same subject, but I doubt Brokaw saw my article before his book was written.]

[I have video of you at the January rally as broadcast on channel 4. Let me know if you want to see it sometime.]

Sorry missed your Freepmail, I've been out leafletting in this INCREDIBLY SYMPATHETIC VENUE for three hours, 3 - 6 p.m. We gave away I'd say at least 2,000 leaflets on fertile ground. We're cold, our voices are hoarse, and there's just no way I'm going out to do more leafletting tonight! : ) Tgsl, it went *really* well.

Well, I was on the phone with Angelwood, but she had to put me on hold and I eventually got off -- her cellphone's going crazy. Lots of press inquiries.

Perfect song for the rally;

It's on CD\
Here are the lyrics

The Fighting Side Of Me
Merle Haggard
(Merle R. Haggard)
12 Merle Haggard #1 Hits (Album)
Transcriber- Anita W. Cantor

I hear people talkin' bad
About the way we have to live here, in this country
Harpin' on the wars we fight
An' grippin' 'bout the way things oughta be

An' I don't mind 'em switchin' sides an'
Standin' up for things they believe in
When they're runnin' down my country, man
They're walkin' on the fightin' side of me

Yeah, walkin' on the fightin' side of me
Runnin' down the way of life
Our fightin' men have fought and died to keep

If you don't love it, leave it
Let this song I'm singin' be a warnin'
If you're runnin' down my country man
You're walkin' on the fightin' side of me

I read about some squirrely guy
Who claims, he just don't believe in fightin'
And I wonder just how long
The rest of us can count on bein' free

They love our milk an' honey
But they preach about some other way, of livin'
When they're runnin' down my country, hoss
They're walkin' on the fightin' side of me

Yeah, walkin' on the fightin' side of me
Runnin' down our way of life
Our fightin' men have fought and died to keep

If you don't love it, leave it
Let this song I'm singin' be a warnin'
When you're runnin' down my country, man
You're walkin' on the fightin' side of me

Yeah, walkin' on the fightin' side of me
Runnin' down our way of life
Our fightin' men have fought and died to keep

If you don't love it, leave it
Let this song I'm singin' be a warnin'
If you're runnin' down my country, man
You're walkin' on the fightin' side of me

Angelwood, Kristinn... when this is all over, can we do a group hug?[emphasis added]

Say what? Group hug? You sure that Takoma Park thinking hasn't affected your judgment?

Can't we take away some school lunches or kick old people out of their nursing homes in celebration? We don't want to ruin our images.

My phone call assignment was completed to Ollie North on Tuesday.

I tried to also get through to Laura Ingraham, but no luck. I also tried to get through to Mike Gallagher. Get through to the show, but had problems and never got on the air.
