SUPPORT OUR TROOPS - Patriots Rally for America IV - Saturday, March 1, 2003, Washington, D.C.
DC Chapter of Free Republic ^ | February 18, 2003 | Angelwood and Kristinn

Posted on 02/18/2003 8:35:34 PM PST by Angelwood

This is important. Drop what you’re doing. Pack the car, get on a plane, a train, a bus or start walking. Our troops need your support right now! They’re laying it on the line for us overseas and all they are seeing in the media is hundreds of thousands of anti-war/anti-American demonstrators marching in our streets.

As evidenced by this article Anti-war Protests Anger U.S. Troops Inside Kuwait those demonstrations are starting to affect morale. You can do something about that, but it will take time, effort and sacrifice -- a modest sacrifice compared to our men and women in uniform waiting for the the word to take out Saddam and his tyrannical terrorist regime.

The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic urges all FReepers and lurkers in good standing, as well as their friends and families, veterans and their friends and families and all others who want to stand up for America and support our troops to join us in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, March 1, 2003 for the Patriots Rally for America IV from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m at the outdoor Sylvan Theater on the grounds of the Washington Monument.

As the United States prepares to take the next step in the war on terrorism with probable action in Iraq, it is imperative that we get out and show support for our troops, our Commander-in-Chief and all that’s good about America.

Our troops are there to give their lives if necessary in order to prevent another 9-11 from happening to us. Now more than ever, they need to see your support back home. Please don’t let them down.

We are asking you to bring large American and Gadsden flags. Also, signs bearing messages supporting America, our troops, our Commander-in-Chief and the war on terrorism.

That same day, anti-American leftists will be holding an "anti-war" rally and march in D.C. The "anti-war" rally, organized by IAC-A.N.S.W.E.R. , a front group for the communist World Workers Party, will be held on the Mall near the Capitol Building between 3rd Street and 7th Street, N.W. The organizers have permitted other sites as staging areas for many in their group to assemble and then march to the main event. Some of these staging areas include: Constitution Gardens by the Vietnam War Memorial, the Northeast quadrant of the Washington Monument, and Freedom Plaza at 14th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W.

Another group has plans to assemble in the DuPont Circle area and march to Constitution Avenue, N.W. between 17th and 23rd Streets.

We do not expect any trouble from those groups. Law enforcement officers will be everywhere to keep the peace and ensure that everyone’s rights are respected.

As always, the D.C. Chapter's rules for demonstrating will be in effect. Briefly, they are: No violence, no racism, no profanity, no threats, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect.

When: Saturday, March 1, 2003 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., rain or shine.

Where: The Sylvan Theater, located on the south side of the Washington Monument grounds at Independence Avenue and 15th Street, S.W.

ok, submitted a question to WP.com. But how do we see the discussion or the answers? I couldn't figure out how to view what was being said "Live".

Also, does anyone know if it would be ok to make FR nametags like this one? These would be on peel off stickers. Is there some rule to not use the FR logo?

You can't see any of the responses because, I just learned, the live online session at the Washington Post was cancelled. I don't know why -- maybe the leftist didn't get there in time. Hopefully, any organized effort to bring down the phone lines or email of the White House has led to arrest. That's serious stuff and quite probably illegal. If you do that with the intention to disrupt White House communications, I'd be surprised if it wasn't actionable.

Nope, 13th Street as in 13th SW (just barely in the SW quandrant, south of Constitution).

The mall -- just south of the mall, a big strip of green (well, theoretically) grass that goes east to west, stretching westward from the U.S. Capitol.

Hang tight and I'm going to find and post a jpg for you.

Here you go. Check out this link. North is up on this map. The monument is on the far lower left. Jimmy Valentine's Brother is suggesting that there are good parking places in the lower left of this map, and little lower than the map itself if need be.

COMING FROM OUT OF TOWN?

Ping me, I'll help you. Here's a link to a map of the area near the monument. North is up on this map. The monument is on the far lower left. The Smithsonian Metro stop is clearly marked. There are some parking places in the lower left of this map, and little lower than the map itself if need be, south of 13th and Independence.

NO! SW see post 151 on this thread for a nice graphic map for where we'll be. For all OOT's Washington DC is laid out around the US Capitol. Keeping the compass in mind you are either North, South, East or West of the origin point (i.e. the Capitol). The streets are numbered, have an lettered or named after a historical figure. The higher the number, closer to "Z" or the more syllables in the name the further away from the Capitol you are. Don't ask me to explain about the streets with the 50 State names. Constituion Avenue and Independence Avenue run on the North and South side of the "Mall."

You four, one other, and one more opening for my "Free Chinese Food" offer for tomorrow, Thursday night. We convene to leaflet at the corner of 7th Street and F Street NW, the MCI Center.

Republic will be joining us from out of town.

News flash: there is a *10 percent* chance that work tomorrow will require me to go to NYC for a quick meeting. IF that happens I'll pay you all back every dollar for whatever you eat and will greatly regret that I can't make it. But I repeat I'll almost certainly be there to leaflet and enjoy your company. (Republic, I'll contact you by cellphone if I can't make it: otherwise, I'll still meet up with you to go to the leaflet site.)

We still have one leafletting position open!! Who'll get the last free food slot??!! Come leaftlet with us.

Hey Fred. I don't think I know what DC is like without the both of us there. Sorry that you can't make it., but you can always stir up some trouble where ever you are.

Thanks -- as my day is evolving, it looks more and more unlikely that I'll be sent in a plane to NYC tomorrow afternoon. (Especially nice given the weather situation.)

FTH, I'm coming down with a couple of young children. Is the Sylvan indoors or out? Are there chairs or do we need to bring them? I apologize if this has been covered. I tried to keep up with this thread. I don't know how you have been able to do it.

Thanks, Badray.

There's a Rally for America every Friday afternoon-evening in Tampa. Jack Harris, WFLA 970 radio was talking about it this morning. I caught Bay to Bay Blvd. but don't know the cross street. I think it's by MacDill.

I know you can email Jack Harris if you visit their web site. He'll answer you if it's about the Rally for America. He replied to me one time because I accused him of Bush bashing and being a Gore-bot. He DENIED any allegiance to Gore. LOL
