A Few of FR's Finest.....
......Every Day

FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders;  tell a few jokes;  learn a new word;  write poetry;  pray for those in need;  and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.

Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001

So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.

Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!

And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

SOME OF FR'S FINEST PROFILE PAGES #8

Many Freepers have taken advantage of the opportunity to create a Profile Page. The results of these creations are often illuminating, humorous, inspirational, artistic or biographic, just to mention a few descriptive words.

Below are some randomly selected FR's Finest Profile Pages. There are, of course, many other FR's Finest Profile Pages worthy of featuring, and we will be featuring them in future editions of Some of FR's Finest Profile Pages. Several have already been featured (see links below). If you have a Profile Page you would like to share, or if you come across a Profile Page that you want to bring to our attention, you know the drill - freepmail Billie, Mama_Bear, Dansangel, dutchess or myself.

In the meantime, please take a look at Some of FR's Finest Profile Pages #8.

phelix is another talented Freeper with a beautiful Webpage which is linked on her Homepage - "simply a collection of flowers from my yard, my cats, my artwork and some poems and stories that are special to me. It means a lot to me to be able to share them here as part of my life...my blink within a dream." Do check out the lovely flowers. Spring is coming!

Mr. Mulliner, whose screen name was formerly Singapore Yank, has provided a recommended reading list of Christian Classics. In fact, he has nifty "bookshelf" with some of these classics. They are all in the public domain so can be freely downloaded. Just click on a title and start reading or print it out.

Mr Fowl's Homepage is devoted to the sport of water fowl hunting on the Delaware Bay. Everything from tide charts, to satellites, to navigational photos can be found here. And if you are not into water fowl hunting, have a look anyway. There is one particular link I enjoyed-one to the lighthouses of Delaware Bay. Also included are some good photos of his beautiful hunting dog, Bob.

Centurion2000 claims that his Homepage is under construction but believe me, it is completed enough to be featured here. Once you read this page, you will come away knowing plenty about this younger FReeper. He shares much of himself. He is picturered here at the Hawkwood Mideval Fanstasy Festival playing a character named Pox. Did I mention that he is interested in science fiction gaming?

Siobhan's Homepage features beuatiful religious art, mostly of Madonna and Child, with a poignant lead-in message from Mother Teresa on abortion, published in the Wall Street Journal in 1994. This message starts out "America needs no words from me to see how your decision in Roe v. Wade has deformed a great nation. The so-called right to abortion has pitted mothers against their children and...."

Arkinsaw's Homepage provides a link to "The Cult of Scalia" - a wonderful site for all fans of Justice Antonin Scalia. Some of the magnificent opinions he has written are available on this site. Also links to two fine organizations are provided - Sons of Confederate Veterans and Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War.

1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar.
2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up.
3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit.
4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it.
5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me an FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

I saw this morning when the President was standing outside the Whitehouse in his dark coat...looking cool against the white snow...it was a few inches deep and beautiful and pure....brrrrrrrr.

My state flag on my profile page? I've been embarassed for some time that there's certainly not much to it...maybe a flag would be a good idea, soon as I figure out how to go about it....sigh...another hurdle...)

I do mainly geometircs. I do mine my hand instead of on the machine. I just did a Party Hat up in Red, White & Blue. Have to top quilt it yet. We have a new puppy who is 7 months old, and he won't let me lay it out on the floor, keeps trying to eat my batting!

I did my son a grandmother's garden quilt up when he got married. That one is a pain. I've been doing up the squares in my instruction/pattern book for the Wal-Mart contest. So far I'm the only one to turn any in.

I need to find a place to get stencils to mark the borders and alternative squares on them. Memphis is short of places to buy quilting supplies. I broke my hoop last year and had a dickon's of a time finding a place that sold them here locally. Take a gander at our FUN Page The quilt you see under Rocky is a Saw Tooth pattern.

Just click on your screen name then click on Edit Profile...when that page comes up in the upper right hand corner there is a selection of States...just click on your State and the flag should load to your page. You can also say something about yourself in the space below or even post a graphic.
I just started building out my profile page last week and it's alot of fun. Wish I'd done it sooner.

Good Morning, Pippin!
It's wonderful to log on and find your cheery greeting..:))
Glad our conversation helped last night.

Yes - the sun is shining here, after yesterday's gloomy day.
Not near a significant body of water, there seldom are clouds in this inland area.
I truly miss those, having grown up in Florida.

It's as if there are rivers of stretched and strewn sheets of cotton candy, lazily sailing across the skies - like the dandelion heads one blew as a child.

Yes, Pippin - it is a new day, and even a 'new year'!!
Latch on to it and fly ~ ~ ~

Aqua and jw - great to find you've posted, too.
Hope all is well in your respective areas, and a fine day is shaping up for you.

So nice to see folks pulling together to help in whatever ways they can. Glad I'm a Texan too !

Thanks for the info, FRiend...

Glad I'm a Texan too...

Reminds me of a short Texas quip:

There are only two kinds of people in the world...people that are from Texas
and those that wish they were.

Daisy, I hate that I didn't get here yesterday - looks like a great time was had by all! Everyone always gets such pleasure out of your Profile Pages features - you're the Queen of Profiles! (At 5 or 6 per thread, and this is the 8th Profile Pages feature!)

Phelix, I bookmarked your webpage - thank you, habs, for the additional heads up on her page....those flowers and photos are absoultely breathtaking...your own garden, Phelix? I especially loved the garden views, but there are many of the photos I haven't yet had a chance to see. Thank you! And thank you, Daisy! (You have regular email, Miss Daisy!)

Gosh, some of you FReepers have the most sophisticated web pages! Being a dog lover, I especially loved the picture of the retreiver, swimming with his catch, at the very top of your page!

Nice to meet you and thanks for gracing our Finest' Profile Pages thread - even though you didn't know it. :)

Your flag looks good there. Don't be embarassed, I didn't put my flag up for a long time because of the all the controversy that surrounds it but to my surprise no one has had a problem with it.

I am looking for a new hoop also. The one I have is two broken hoops put together. I staggered the breaks and have them wrapped with masking tape. and the top hoop is taped and the wing nut and screw is stripped so badly that it won't tighten. I told my husband a long time ago that we could make a fortune if we could come up with a strong and durable quilting hoop.

I do the piece work on the machine but do the quilting by hand. Your quilt is beautiful!

You aren't quilting the contest blocks are you?
