The Kentucky coalition to Carry Concealed recently published some examples of gun control “logic” on it’s web site. We’ve included some of the more interesting tidbits here, with thanks to that organization.

Banning guns works, which is why New York, D.C., and Chicago cops need guns.

Washington DC’s low murder rate of 69 per 100,000 is due to strict gun control, and Indianapolis’ high murder rate of 9 per 100,000 is due to the lack of gun control.

An intruder will be incapacitated by tear gas or oven spray, but if shot with a .357 magnum, will get angry and kill you.

A woman raped and strangled is morally superior to a woman with a smoking gun and a dead rapist at her feet.

The New England Journal of Medicine is filled with expert advice about guns; just like Guns & Ammo has some excellent treatises on heart surgery

One should consult an automotive engineer for safewr seatbelts, a civil engineer for a better bridge, a surgeon for internal medicine, a computer programmer for hard drive problems and Sarah Brady for firearms expertise.

The Second Amendment, ratified in 1791 refers to the National Guard, which was created 112 years later in 1903.

These phrases: “The right of the people peaceably to assemble,” “right of the people to be secure in their homes.” “enumeration of herein of certain rights shall not be construed to disparage others retained by the people,” and “The powers not delegated herein are reserved to the states respectively and to the people” all refer to individuals, but “the right of the people to keep and bear arms” refers to the state.

The NRA’s “don’t touch” campaign about kids handling guns is propaganda, but the anti-gun lobby’s attempt to run a “don’t touch” campaign is responsible social activity.

Most people can’t be trusted, so we should have laws against guns, which most people will abide by because they can be trusted.

Citizens don’t need to carry a gun for personal protection, but police chiefs who are deskbound administrators who work in a building filled with cops, need a gun.

Trigger locks do not interfere with the ability to use a gun for defensive purposes, which is why you see police officers with one on their duty weapons.

Handgun Control, Inc. says it wants to “keep guns out of the wrong hands.”

Guess what?

I think with the not so surprising revelation that Daschle is going to throw his hat into the Demcratic ring, and that the assault weapons/mag ban law is due to sunset in one year while the antigun groups have united together to not only make it permanent, but to make it far more encompassing and eliminate any grandfather or possession loopholes. The next election may well hold the key to our enduring freedoms, and these little gems of "logic" had better be on the minds of everyone; not just here on FR but with your friends and family who don't participate here. Because this ugly and false "logic" also applies to other areas the liberals wish to influence like health care, social security, terrorism and the military.

When I think about the reauthorization of the gun bans in the 1994 Crime Bill and the additional gun control that the Democrats will want to pass, I realize how much it matters that we weren't able to win the South Dakota and Louisiana senate seats. We needed those two seats to be filled with real Americans and not gun-grabbing liberals.

Here is a one for you.

When crime goes down, the gun control crowd claim that it is due to recent gun control and that MORE gun control is needed to save even more lives.

When crime in the same area goes back up, they claim that the gun control laws are ineffective and that MORE gun control is needed to reduce crime.

Bill, unfortunately, it is estimated that if the bill comes up to reauthorize the AW ban, that the Senate will pass it. Remember, we have at least four RINOs that can't be counted on. However, in the House, many of the Democrats are from rural areas where guns are common and the 2nd Amendment is sacred.

Don't count on Bush to veto it if it comes to his desk before the election though.

Sadly, I must agree with you on all points. My thought regarding the Senate was that a 53-46-1 split might have changed the committees to the point where the ban could be choked in a committee and not come to a vote.

Some legal scholar correct me if I am wrong:

The fact that a felon swears falsly that he is not an thus attempts to buy a gun can not be used against him in court on the basis of the fifth amendment as this would be self incrimination if he said he was a felon.

Well, I'm not a lawyer, but I have been to law school and one of the things presented in both my CON (Constitutional) and Criminal Law classes is exactly that point. For a felon to register his illegally held guns is a violation of his 5th Amendment rights against self incrimination. What sweet irony! LOL

by their own logic, the house and senate should ban personal posession and make us all felons; then we would truly all be outlaws, and wouldn't have to register anything...

Click on the browse button on a thread page.
Then go to search for user.
Type in *bang_list and push enter/search.

That's it. It changed a bit from the old format of searching for posts and replies.
