Many of you have asked if there was another way to contact
our military men and women besides sending e-mails.
This might make an easy to do classroom project or office project.
Just click on the links in the graphic to find out what to do.

On behalf of Army veteran Ted Maher and his friends on Free Republic, God Bless our troops, our veterans and their families.

It's a proud time when our men and women in uniform move out, as they are now led by those who respect them.

As ever, our thoughts, our prayers and our flag flies 24/7 for them in their mission.

It's great to see Marine veteran Drew Carey doing shows. The next one he can use Saddam's head in a jar as a prop.

The North Korean nuclear program didn't cease in 1994--but Clinton was fine with that.

Sudan offered Osama in 1998, but Clinton was too busy with Monica.

Robert Baer, See No Evil, illustrates the sorry state of intelligence, and we all know the 40% cut in defense funding and tripling of deployments.

Now come the adults. North Korea will be taught how the cow ate the cabbage.

Gen. Xiong Guangkai got his comeuppance from Condoleeza Rice. Sara Lister said the Marines were "extreme", but Condy thinks they're just right.

The finest fighting force on earth is bringing smackdown to the bully-boys, and aid to the people who really need it.

God Speed our men and women in uniform to swift victory and safe return.

And Arafat's head to a second jar--for the balanced approach.

ms feather, I hope you have gotten some much needed rest this day, and are feeling at least a little better.

Maybe these could help a little.

Or maybe some of this?

Hey Kathy,

I like the girl in the white shorts and the blue sleeves.

I think that she is a friend of mine whose phone number I lost.

Would you happen to have her phone number? I mean, both of their numbers.

Yes, I was friends with both of them.

Yeah, that is the ticket.

I know them both and I lost my address book.

Yeah, that is it.

My dog ate my phone book, and my poor cheerleader friends have not heard from me in a while.

Please send me their phone numbers!

I lost Bo Dereks number too.

If you have that one, could you please give it to me again.

I am certain that they would all be happy to hear from me.

Again, I meant to say "again."

REPUBLIC OF SEYCHELLES (December 22, 2002) -- Recently Marines assigned to the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) and Sailors from USS Austin (LPD-4) enjoyed some time off during a port visit to Seychelles. After completing Exercise Edged Mallet in Kenya, USS Austin headed southeast to the tropical resort destination where the crew had three days to unwind.

While there, Marines and Sailors enjoyed a variety of activities and sights from all over the island. While some Marines hit the beach for swimming and sunbathing others took advantage of downtown shopping markets, historic landmarks, Creole cuisine and scenic views.

Canteeners and Military

If I Could...

If I could catch a rainbow
I would do it just for you
And share with you its beauty
On the days you're feeling blue.

If I could build a mountain
You could call your very own
A place to find serenity
A place to be alone.

If I could take your troubles
I would toss them in the sea
But all these things I'm finding
Are impossible for me.

I cannot build a mountain
Or catch a rainbow fair
But let me be what I know best:
A friend that's always there.

I'm all better now, well almost. Just tired. The news reports are saying that the "cruise ship virus" has come to Alaska. I would just as soon they keep it, thank you very much. Now my folks have it, and my brother called from work (Prudhoe Bay) to say he has it. He just flew up from the Oakland area Thursday evening.

"but I think that the sun rise in Anchorage is stuck at 10:15"

LOL, Radix, that bothered me too! But I checked 2 different sources and it must be that the shortest days of the year are just poking along. The sun peeks over the horizon, slides along and goes down at different times, approx 3 minutes later each day.

You get this for noticing.

For the Troops

BEGINNING TODAY

Beginning today I will no longer worry about yesterday.
It is in the past and the past will never change.
Only I can change by choosing to do so.

Beginning today I will no longer worry about tomorrow.
Tomorrow will always be there, waiting for me to make
the most of it.
But I cannot make the most of tomorrow without first
making the most of today.

Beginning today I will look in the mirror and I will
see a person worthy of my respect and admiration.
This capable person looking back at me is someone I
enjoy spending time with and someone I would like to
get to know better.

Beginning today I will cherish each moment of my life.
I value this gift bestowed upon me in this world and
I will unselfishly share this gift with others.
I will use this gift to enhance the lives of others.

Beginning today I will take a moment to step off the
beaten path and to revel in the mysteries I encounter.
I will face challenges with courage and determination.
I will overcome what barriers there may be which hinder
my quest for growth and self-improvement.

Beginning today I will take life one day at a time,
one step at a time.
Discouragement will not be allowed to taint my
positive self-image,
my desire to succeed or my capacity to love.

Beginning today I walk with renewed faith in human
kindness.
Regardless of what has gone before, I believe there
is hope for a brighter and better future.

Beginning today I will open my mind and my heart.
I will welcome new experiences. I will meet new
people.
I will not expect perfection from myself nor
anyone else: perfection does not exist in an
imperfect world.
But I will applaud the attempt to overcome human
foibles.

Beginning today I am responsible for my own
happiness and I will do things that make me happy . . .
admire the beautiful wonders of nature, listen to my
favorite music, pet a kitten or a puppy, soak in a
bubble bath . . .pleasure can be found in the most
simple of gestures.

Beginning today I will learn something new; I will
try something different; I will savor all the
various flavors life has to offer.
I will change what I can and the rest I will let go.
I will strive to become the best me I can possibly be.

Beginning today. And every day.

Hi you two! Glad to see you're both up and about. Hope this means you're both better now. I'm gonna give this a shot and see how long I can last this time. It might be a good idea to keep that ambulance Tonk so kindly provided close by...just in case! LOL I tried to coordinate all these critters to carry me around but to no avail. (siiiigh!) Too darned independent, they are.
