Prayer Request for Coast Guard Rescue that is Underway in Oregon

Pray Request

This same boat, 52' Motor Lifeboat Intrepid, is right now towing a 52' sailboat back to Charleston OR.
On board are 3 of my Coast Guard Brothers and 1 Sister.
They are battling 30-40 foot waves and nearing the harbor entrance.
They have been underway since 10 AM PST and went about 15 miles out
to rescue the sailboat and the 2 people onboard.
Due to extreme bar conditions
They will have to stay outside of the bar and attempt a crossing in the morning.
The 2 47' boats will be at the bar entrance when they finally cross.
I personally know all involved (except the man and woman on the sailboat).
This is how some of my Brothers and Sisters that I work with every Thursday
are spending part of this holiday season, saving others lives.
The former CO of the base is the SAR (Search and Rescue) co-ordinator at the
13th CG District headquarters in Seattle.
Please say a prayer for the safety of all involved.
Thank You

Thoughts and Prayers for all those who are out in the rough waters.

From what I read on another thread it sounds like a terrible storm is about to hit the West Coast.

God bless and watch over these brave and stalwart saviors on the sea. Keep them ever alert in their respect for the wind and waves, and help them to a safe landfall.

Prayers for them.

The Pacific is the world's most mis-named ocean.

Heavenly Father,

Please calm the waters surrounding all those in this rescue mission. Give courage and strength to each person involved and let Your mighty hand protect them through the night. Guide and direct every part of the rescue, Lord, for our trust is in You. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Eternal Father, strong to save,
Whose arm hath bound the restless wave,
Who biddest the mighty ocean deep
Its own appointed limits keep;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea!

O Christ! Whose voice the waters heard
And hushed their raging at Thy Word,
Who walked on the foaming deep,
And calm amidst its rage didst sleep;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea!

Most Holy Spirit! Who didst brood
Upon the chaos dark and rude,
And bid its angry tumult cease,
And give, for wild confusion, peace;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea!

O Trinity of love and power!
Our family shield in danger’s hour;
From rock and tempest, fire and foe,
Protect us wheresoever we go;
Thus evermore shall rise to Thee
Glad hymns of praise from land and sea.

I talked to all 4 of them before they got underway.
They knew what to expect and gladly went.
3 Brothers and 1 Sister, all in their early 20's.
They will be in for one hell of a night.

Add my prayers to the list, for there are still heroes who tread the earth (members of the Coast Guard and other uniformed services) who will always help people who just want to get home alive.

I just walked outside to get some prospective from the 19' telephone pole in front of my house. I can't even imagine a 40' wave.

God keep watch over them all.

When I was in the Navy I used to make fun of "coasties" until I saw that they went out in the very same conditions I went out in, but they were aboard a ship ONE-TENTH the size of the one I was on.

Prayers for them, AYE!!

It's got to be dangerous out there with those kinds of seas and a 52 ft. sailboat in tow.

I would think so, too, but I'm strictly a land lubber type. Would it not be a Good Idea, to transfer the two to the CG boat and let the sailboat go? Or would the transfer be risker than the tow?
