It still could be. They could have used "God" instead of Allah on the tarot card (another Islamic no-no) to throw us off.

I read on another thread the "Dear Policeman - I am God" was written in German, using Allah, but was desifered into English using the word "God."
Whoever posted it posted it in the original language. It ended with "Allah."

I wonder why it took Chief Moose so long to make this request. It's been 24 hours since the man was shot.

Could it be because the perp said they would call that number, but never did and Moose is getting impatient? If that's the case it could mean that the shooters are starting to disagree on what to do next, or even that one of them killed the other. Just hoping... :o)

As a Portland resident for the entire term of Moose's 'chiefdom', all I can say to you is my first reaction to seeing him as the officer in charge, BEFORE he uttered a word was "OH NO" !!!!! I KNEW things would be messy from the start.
The joke here when he left was whoever hired him obviously never read an Oregon paper or saw newscoverage of his operation here.

Part of the thing that has Moose and everyone else is that this case perplexed is that this doesn't fit nicely into existing templates. The rash of shootings in Rockville/Wheaton, with the subsequent movement onto other areas, gives the impression of a nut in that area who is now trying to throw the authorities off (Remember, there was a 9/14 shooting in that area that may be related).

OTOH, If this is a serial, he sure feels comfortable working outside of his comfort zone (VA shootings). This points to possibility of a 2nd perp possibly centered in Spotsylvania/Fredricksburg area. Nature of shootings also points toward sniper and spotter/driver pair. If these were a couple of Klebolds on the rampage someone would have bragged to a woman or the guys at the range about it by now.

Finally, just about any serial killer has some kind of issues and this should influence the target choice: couples on dates, prostitutes, gays, or a racial type. May not be AQ but so far this is very professional.

That's true, but we were told the shooter takes weekends off, so he shot someone yesterday. We were told that the schools were secure, so he shot a kid.

He seems to respond to challenges.

It's always better to make friends with the media. Like Sheriff Carona in Orange County during the Samantha Runion case. He was always as upfront and courteous to the media (even though they can get crazy at times) That cooperation really solved the case I think.

Does anyone have an opinion as to why sometimes a head shot and the other shots to the back and gut? Is it every other time? I've lost track.

Is there any connection between the locations (is he leaving messages that way too)?

A piece of paper or card with "911" on it can be interpreted as a telephone number. If so, Moose would have to make it clear it was being interpreted that way and ask the perp to call.

Because the phone number to the Ponderosa is easy enough to find, and since the place obviously isn't open for business the perp can be relatively sure LEO will answer.

As for the hotel...that's going along the theory that the perp got a room at a nearby motel while he cased the joint. Plus, the guy likes to make cops look like idiots, so why not leave a note and drop some misleading evidence in a motel room?

Per CNN: shooter was only 30 to 40 yards away in the dark woods, shooting into well lighted parking lot.

I read the post on the other thread, and that's not my recollection of it. In any event, I have a great deal of mistrust of bombshell facts shared by a Freeper I don't know, especially when they don't reveal their sources.
