Beltway Sniper attempted contact last night !

Very short press conference where he simply states that the Beltway Sniper attempted contact and Chief Moose requested that he call them back.

But I'm just wondering: If the perp left Moose a phone number, WHY WOULD MOOSE HAVE TO ANNOUNCE IT ON TV? Why would he have to tell the perp: We're ready to take your call? Why not just have someone ready to take that phone call?

The only I reason I can think of is that they've had that number ready (and it has to be the most heavily-bugged phone line in the world right now) since they first found the note and nobody has called.

Maybe they didn't find the note until this morning. That's entirely possible. But nobody has called all day, and Moose felt necessary to prod the shooter.

The sniper does feel invincible and by essentially challenging him to call, it might well happen.

They probably had to clear how to respond with somebody in the administration. This is a case of presidential interest.

The scenario that is really scary is that we know exactly who these people are (through our super-secret surveillance systems), and we still are at their mercy for some reason.

What if it really isn't a phone number but a place?

I wonder too!!! The Ashland police did a much better job last night communicating with the media (which is really information for the public)

Sure the Ashland police did, providing sandwiches and drinks for the media. Geez, I thought they were having a party.

What makes you think the FBI is not in charge?

By the way, I heard on one of the talk shows today that the Secret Service is involved in the evaluation of the forensic evidence. Why do you suppose that is?

Who knows, Chief Moose might get a relayed call directly from Usama bin Laden in Afghanistan. For the killer to call Moose directly from any phone within this country would be insane.

I've been thinking that maybe the phone number left is the phone number to the Ponderosa...or maybe a room in a nearby hotel.

Because we allow them to infiltrate our lands without the barest of checks or scrutiny.

I don't think he is worried about phone location being traced. It could be he wants to make a call to the number he had them set-up, right after or right before he takes or has taken his next victim. He drops the phone at the shooting site and he is off again. The cellphones would be hot cellphones that cannot be traced back to him or they are disposable phones that cannot be traced back to him. It is risky on his part, but that is part of the game for him.

"I Am God's Sword"???? That would put things in a different light. Would law enforcement alter the wording in order to prevent freaking out the public; which would result in an anti - Muslim backlash???

'I Am God's Sword'? As opposed to 'Army of God'? Could both result in an anti-Muslim backlash? Or perhaps neither would necessarily cause an anti-Muslim backlash?

This perp has been changing his M.O. with each media description thereof.

If the police expect him to call, he probably won't.

Has anybody found confirmation of the claim (made, I believe, by Nix 2) that there was a message on the back of the tarot card written in German?

Perhaps you would like to verify it for yourself.
Email:

brianwilson@foxnews.com

By all means, post your reply. LOL
Why might you suspect that there has been no release of pictures of the tarot if everything was on the up and up?
I also have independent verification, but that's my business and nunya.

"To the person who left us a message at the Ponderosa last night. You gave us a telephone number. We do want to talk to you. Call us at the number you provided. Thank you,"

That statement by Moose seems to rule that out, but maybe Moose is communicating in code back to the sniper.

Any speculation is fair game, I guess.
