the sniper has been leaving notes at several of his recent shooting sites

After the latest press conference, this wouldn't surprise me a bit. It's looking more and more like a homegrown nut -- not Al Qaida (sp?)

OK..they found the message in the woods behind the Ponderosa.

We don't need to know what it means, but Moose wants the media to keep playing the cryptic reply...

Anyone think the sniper is ready to deal? (I'll go out on a limb here, and say "no" ).

You know how finicky those “arteests” can be.

They only work 9-5 and there are many types of phones.

You got your pay-phone, wall-phone, desk-phone, cell-phone... and when you talk about ink!

It could be grape juice on a quill pen. It's too baffling for the human mind!

"I wish that, in the future, when we sentence these guys to prison sentences, we include a suspended death sentence that gets unsuspended if anybody tries to spring them."

Good idea... I agree 100%

Maybe the messages suggest that the sniper is a ME terrorist?

The messages suggest more than ever that this is a homegrown nutcase.

FNC is. They came up with an odd scenario that perhaps the guy left a number, the police called, he didn't answer, the police took control of that line, and now they want HIM to call them.

Thats just Patti Ann Brown freaking out. She is trying to solve the case frantically right there on the air. She has nice legs but her Sherlock Holmes impression is a little weak.

I'm so confused.

Stop listening to the media. Al Quaeda doesn't leave messages with phone numbers.

Fox is saying the authorities are asking them to not try and understand the message. They just want them to play it repeatedly. Also, the Tarot message also asked that they NOT release info about the Tarot card to the media. That explains why Moose was so upset about the Tarot card.

Haven't seen it. But it makes sense that they would be leaving messages at all the scenes. Why only leave one?

We don't know that he hasn't left other messages that have not been reported.

My guess: Either the sniper or someone who knows who the sniper is -- called the Ponderosa and left a message, saying he wanted to talk on the phone to the Chief of Police of Ashland (what is his name?) And he left a phone number saying, he'd know when to call this number, after they announce during a news conference today when they have the phone line set up and ready to receive his call. Also, for the police to validate to him that the Chief of Police of Ashland will be the one answering -- by mentioning his name during the news conference.

How does that sound?

9/11 happened the day before the defendants in the embassy bombing trial were due to be sentenced in federal court in Lower Manhattan (six blocks from the WTC). I think I've read a report some place -- I think it may have been in one of Bodansky's books -- that the embassy bombings were a response to the U.S.'s jailing of Rahman.

OK..they found the message in the woods behind the Ponderosa.

Who said anything about finding a message in the woods? What about a phone call to the Ponderosa after the sniper got away?

This was a phone message left at the Ponderosa -- not a written message left at the shooting hide -- called in by the sniper after he got away but only just barely. He was impressed at the reaction time in Ashland and he attributed this to the chief on the scene there (I forgot the chief's name).

Thanks, I had been wondering since last night why the chief was interrupted and left in the middle of his press conference last night. I thought at that time that perhaps they had captured the sniper but instead it was the phone call from the sniper.

I think Mrs. Utter is an arrogant bi$ch.

She was just doing her job. She was very concerned that she didn't make a mistake.

I felt sorry for her, and very glad that I wasn't in her position.

There is a lot at stake, and she didn't want to screw up.

And since much had been made about the weekend lulls, "I think he reacted to that," Van Zandt said.

one thing seems obvious: the perp IS following his own story played out on TV.

The pay phone won't ring, but he'll (Moose) look like the idiot he is.

This would be funny, if it wasn't for the dead.
