Mayor Bloomberg has decided to supercede the city council's proposals to ban smoking in NYC with a totalitarian one of his own, backed up by his own hand-picked gestapo, Health Commissioner Thomas Frieden and his agents.
On Monday, August 12th, the mayor made his proposal public --
TO BAN SMOKERS EVERYWHERE IN NYC
(NY Times Reports: Bloomberg Seeks to Ban Smoking in Every Restaurant and Bar)
THE ANTI-SMOKER OPERATIVES ARE NOW REPORTING THAT
BEACHES AND PARKS
WILL BE NEXT!
WHO'S RUNNING THIS CITY?!?
(NY Post Reports: Beach Butt Ban )
In his acceptance speech on Nov. 6th, 2001, Bloomberg said the following:
"We must put aside anything that divides us. This is NY and it's going to be for all New Yorkers."...
"...Except for those 'stupid' and 'crazy' smokers."
(By the way, someone has started a lawsuit campaign over those remarks. See Sue Bloomberg for details.)
MAYOR BLOOMBERG WAS ELECTED TO REPRESENT ALL THE PEOPLE IN NYC. THE CITY DOES NOT REPRESENT MAYOR BLOOMBERG.
Smokers have been the only ones burdened in this city to sustain it financially with an exorbitant tax increase meant to fill the coffers and punish us at the same time. Only sadists kick people some more once they've already been knocked down.
If we can't smoke in public why should we pay the public's taxes?! It is smokers' money that nows pays for the upkeep of public places and continuing services. Where else do you pay for something and are denied access at the same time?
And don't hand us that line about how the smokers wouldn't be banned. In relation, in 1969 when gays were told they couldn't assemble in places where the owners were happy to serve them, gays weren't banned either. What was forbidden was acting gay, so this is really the same abuse.
Who owns the restaurants and bars anyway?? It is certainly not city-owned or public property. It is PRIVATE PROPERTY where the owner ALLOWS the public to enter.
Whether you smoke or not, we call on all defenders of democracy to join us in denouncing such government infringement on private property rights. It is NOT a health issue, it's a freedom of choice issue.
Allow them to discriminate against one segment of society and they will come for you next.
When the health-Nazis came for the smokers,
I was not a smoker,
therefore, I was not concerned.
And when the health-Nazis attacked the obese,
I was not obese,
therefore, I was not concerned.
And when the health-Nazis attacked the drinkers and the alcohol industry,
I was not a drinker,
therefore I was not concerned.
Then, the health-Nazis attacked me and the freedom loving Americans who remained,
and there was nobody left to be concerned.
Under Bloomberg's plan, smokers who break the law may be fined $10 to $100 or be jailed up to 30 days [Source: Associated Press; Aug. 16, 2002 ]
MAYOR BLOOMBERG WILL HAVE YOU ARRESTED FOR.... SMOKING!!
NYC C.L.A.S.H. stands for:
New York City Citizens Lobbying Against Smoker Harassment
GOOD LUCK.
Hell no! They won't go! heh!
I heard "whispers" about this, and now it's fact. I sure hope it's a success for them! That Mayor BloomingIdiot has got to go!
Goodness, jjm2!! This is wonderful! Even if a person hates smoking and doesn't want to be around it, there has GOT to be room in here for all of us......and for all of us to get along! Know what I mean?? :)
I realize that smoking isn't for everyone, just like I can't aquire a taste for BEER. But I still kiss a beer drinker. heh!
Anyway, we are really fighting for legal to stay legal and if we lose legal, we will all go down the tubes. America wasn't born for just one group of people. Because there are so many of us, and we are all different.
Go to the Rally and see how it goes. Might be a fun night out. Heck, everyone else protests and hold marches and rallys!! Keep me posted if you go.
What a firebrand. Great corollary spokesperson for CLASH!!! A bit more radical than my own tastes, but great to have out there! He also was careful to correct John Gibson's intro that named him rather than Audrey as CLASH founder. For those who missed it, Scott made it sound as though the Antismokers were the opening wedge to the end of Western Civilization As We Know It and went on to practically SCREAM (several times) at any lazybutt NY smokers who don't come out for their demonstration next week!!!
I hope a zillion people turn out for this.
GOOD LUCK TO THEM!!
Your not kidding Madame Dufarge. Hey! Your closer then I am. heh! :)
This Scott was on the John Gibson TV Show. I think John is on Fox. I never watch him, but I know who he is. I just wished I had known about it so I could have watched.
I guess this Scott really defends the rights to smoke! Should be interesting.
Sure! And you could go up to Audrey Silk and let her know your a Freeper! She would love that! Tell her "I" sent you!
I watch John when I get an opportunity - he sometimes gives some great rants at the end of his show.
It sure would! But I just have a Puff List, and have none for NYC people. Do you? I sure would appreciate it if you or someone could get this out to the NYC Freepers.
That being said
I am not supportive of a complete ban - I would be supportive of a fine for discarding spent filters in a public area, but I can not in good conscience participate in a gathering that while supportive of the individual right, benefits companies which are in conflict with my moral beliefs. - So please erect a cardboard cut out of me and consider my participation in spiritus and solely supportive of individual freedom
