Which State is the Armpit of America?
Arthur Wildfire! March

Posted on 08/07/2002 4:23:30 PM PDT by Arthur Wildfire! March

Ok fellow freepers. The aristocracy had fun deciding which 'hick town' was the armpit of America. Naturally it had to be rural and conservative. A tad redneck.

They were way off the mark. I would have picked New York prior to 9-11. I mean, good grief. Hellery's husband pardoned bomb terrorists to get her elected, the scandal is exposed to every New Yorker and they elected her anyway? She was silent on the issue for at least a week. But well, perhaps NY had been reborn in blood. So, I'm tempted to give them a pass.

Arkansas? Could that be the armpit of America? The home of NationsBank, Tyson Chicken, Walmart, Web Hubbell, and the Big Creep himself?

Then there is the delightful state of New Jersy, which is batting a thousand at elected scandal-swamped senators. Not only the Torch, but also Corzine.

Some might choose South Dakota. Not only do they keep re-electing Timber Tom [also called Rushmore Daschle], but they also go three days without brushing their teeth. So many choices....

Here is what I actually said:

California is an anus, contained within an armpit. The anus is Hollywood. What a shame that a few good conservatives have to live in such a socialist climate.

I can see where that may have meant that I was calling the whole state an anus. I meant it to say that California HAS an anus, contained within an armpit.

Why anyone but a real estate agent or one who owns a lot of California real estate would want to encourage folks to move to California escapes me. Actually I am in the latter category, and I still don't want to encourage any in migration. Cheers.

Californians eating oranges off their own tree? They tell me it would be well over a million dollars just for the space on which to PLANT such a tree...and then there would be the geodesic dome to keep the pollution and smog off of it, and the cost of distilled organic water to keep it alive...

I think it would be cheaper to BUY the oranges!

Freepers excepted...if I woke up tomorrow, and discovered that everything north of the Potomac and east of the Susquehanna had drifted off into the North Atlantic; it would be a beautiful new beginning for the rest of the country. (Next, the west coast floats off to mainland China...) If wishes was fishes...

I think conservative Californians should just build a huge catapult and jettison the socialists into the ocean. Then again, that would be a recommendation for all fifty states. The landlocked ones could just ship them to the coasts, pending their trip into the ocean.

Citrus trees in the ground or in a pot can be an effective landscape ornament. Have you considered that aspect?

Louisiana has the best food in the USA, and its natives rarely leave unless forced to go over to Houston to get jobs.

But not many from other places ever GO there, either.

I, too, have read the threads you have mentioned. I would hope that all of them are joking, however, I wouldn't even want the liberals to die such a horrible death. So, anyone from California, RELAX! I am not expressing a bigoted hatred of Californians.

Ok, my feathers have become unfuffled. LOL!

Besides of the beauty of our state, we have perfect weather, and the fruit and veggies grown in the Central Valley supply half of what is consumed in America.

About activism, many FReepers in California have stood on street corners to protest Gary Condit (in my view, instrumental in him not winning reelection) and to counter the peaceniks who show up weekly. There aren't many of us, but boy, we are a force to be reckoned with!

Not California, it is a beautiful state.

Just has a lousy governor!

Good people, home of Ronald Reagan, and FreeRepublic.

I rest my case!

It is Arkansas anyway! Home of Clinton! :)

PLEASE keep in mind that there are approximately 15 million conservatives, patriots in California.

And you're being taxed to death. There are places in California that are really bad, but as for the entire state -- no way. The great bulk of California (geography-wise) is marvelous -- from great mountains to ski, beaches and coastlines, the greatest farmland in the world. It was practically a paradise before the 1960's hit.

I haven't been to every state -- but the one that I have been to that I thought the least of was New Jersey. So my vote would have to go there.

Every state from the Rocky Mountains west has a whole lot to recommend it, even California and my state (Washington), if you can put up with all the wacko-leftists and taxes. But then I'm a skier, so I've got a tunnel-vision problem.

Your statement is almost word for word what my Boer friends from South Africa said twenty years ago. Worth fighting for, ha. They are over here now, LMTY.

I am not using physical criteria, the people, etc. as the basis for my using California. I am using overall socio-political aspects. As I have said, over and over, I know that California is a beautiful state. In fact, I know that ALL of the states of this country are beautiful. Now, if you want to discuss any state that has produced a single politician for nomination as armpit, it would have to be a tie between Arkansas for Clinton and Mass. for Kennedy. Georgia would be next for Carter. Sorry to have to say that, but I would say it if it was my own state.

How do you think an Alabamian feels putting up with that eternal gasbag, Howell Heflin, representing us before the nation? LOL! It is as if someone distilled bull flatulence into a somewhat human form.
