A Few of FR's Finest..... ......Every Day
FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders; tell a few jokes; learn a new word; write poetry; pray for those in need; and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001
So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.
Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!
And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

Say, "Cheese!"
LBGA
Is your photo in the FReeper Photo Album? Have you all SEEN the Freeper Photo Album? Do you realize how much time it took for someone to put that together? And did you know that the someone who PUT it together (actually put it together more than once, but that is another story!) is THIS FReeper: LBGA , Freeper since 4-23-00. LBGA proudly flies the State Flag of Georgia on her profile page, along with about 250 others!
LBGA was one of the FReepers who traveled to DC for the Inagural Ball; she is an artist and has been an important part of the Guild, (this thread was particularly entertaining as LBGA had gone to Florida on a business trip and got to spend some time with BigWaveBetty, another of the Guild stalwarts; unfortunately, the photos at the pool are no longer available, darn it!), as well as the USO Canteen, where she created a warm, inviting cyber room, complete with the two mascots, Beamer and Morgan, relaxing in front of a cozy fire. You can see that room, with all the little FR details, displayed on Snow Bunny's profile page. Snow Bunny is the Hostess of the USO Canteen.
Thank you, LBGA, for being one of FR's Finest FReepers! And thank you for creating, collecting, cropping, and categorizing all those photos!
Smile, you're on Candid Camera FR's Finest!

LBGA - your FReeper Photo Album is terrific. Thank you for all your work in putting it together (repeatedly) and for maintaining it. I'll get around to sending you a picture of me eventually! And we really ought to get together some time since we are in the same area! I would love to meet you. Heard so many great things about you from other Atlanta area FReeperettes. Congratulations! You deserve your day in the spotlight! Georgia peach hugs, Jen
Hijinx - thanks pal for the ping!
Billie - nice thread. I especially liked that you mentioned LBGA's artwork of the Canteen cabin which is on Snow Bunny's profile page. That's very gracious of you.

Good afternoon to you all!
LBGA: You ROCK! What a wonderful dedication to someone who truly deserves it. I'm hoping you are enjoying your day in the spotlight!
.45MAN and I were privileged to meet LBGA for lunch one day a few months ago. We all live and work within a couple miles of each other. She is a genuinely sincere and delightful person and we feel honored in knowing her!
God Bless you LBGA along with TONS of FReeper {{{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

LBGA. Congratulations on being today's freepers finest. And you certain are deserving. I finally found the photo album a few weeks back. So much fun to go through. Prayers being sent your way for a smooth chemo and for a continued excellent prognosis.
Summer. Loved the story about Dem Underground not wanting to hurt anyones feelings by honoring someone special. It's that same mentality that banned scoring in kids soccer tournaments! God forbid a team ACTUALLY LOSE!!!!
billie, daisyscarlett, mamma_bear. Thanks as always for this great site. Am manning the Republican booth at our county fair today but had to run to the office just to get my daily "fix". Will stop in later today. Have a great day all!

OMG! I was reading backwards through the posts and had no idea that you were so ill! Bless your heart....I had wondered why we hadn't heard from you.
Please take care and know that .45MAN and I will keep you in our prayers.
Lots of love, hugs and more important, God's blessings.

LOL! Well, when I did that I noticed the illusion that the center squares
would get bigger as I moved closer and the outer squares got smaller. And
vice-versa when I moved farther. Also, the outer frames seemed to move in
and out from the center at the same time (in as I got closer, out as I got
farther).

The Rewards of a Good Deed A true story...
One stormy night many years ago, an elderly man and his wife entered the lobby of a small hotel in Philadelphia. Trying to get out of the rain, the couple approached the front desk hoping to get some shelter for the night.
"Could you possibly give us a room here?" the husband asked.
The clerk, a friendly man with a winning smile, looked at the couple and explained that there were three conventions in town. "All of our rooms are taken," the clerk said. "But I can't send a nice couple like you out into the rain at one o'clock in the morning. Would you perhaps be willing to sleep in my room? It's not exactly a suite, but it will be good enough to make you folks comfortable for the night."
When the couple declined, the young man pressed on. "Don't worry about me, I'll make out just fine," the clerk told them.
So the couple agreed.
As he paid his bill the next morning, the elderly man said to the clerk, "You are the kind of manager who should be the boss of the best hotel in the United States. Maybe someday I'll build one for you."
The clerk looked at them and smiled. The three of them had a good laugh. As they drove away, the elderly couple agreed that the helpful clerk was indeed exceptional, as finding people who are both friendly and helpful isn't easy.
Two years passed. The clerk had almost forgotten the incident when he received a letter from the old man. It recalled that stormy night and enclosed a round-trip ticket to New York, asking the young man to pay them a visit.
The old man met him in New York, and led him to the corner of Fifth Avenue and 34th Street. He then pointed to a great new building there, a pale reddish stone, with turrets and watchtowers thrusting up to the sky.
"That," said the older man, "is the hotel I have just built for you to manage."
"You must be joking," the young man said.
"I can assure you I am not," said the older man, a sly smile playing around his mouth.
The older man's name was William Waldorf-Aster, and that magnificent structure was the original Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. The young clerk who became its first manager was George C. Boldt. This young clerk never foresaw the turn of events that would lead him to become the manager of one of the world's most glamorous hotels.

Thanks for adding the graphics.
The story took up quite a bit of room, so I didn't want to make it longer with graphics.
Thank you for adding them. It is quite a building.

A preacher went to his church office on Monday morning and discovered a dead mule in the church yard. He called the police. Since there did not appear to be any foul play, the police referred the preacher to the health department. They said since there was no health threat that he should call the sanitation department.
The sanitation manager said he could not pick up the mule without authorization from the mayor.
Now the preacher knew the mayor and was not too eager to call him. The mayor had a bad temper and was generally hard to deal with, but the preacher called him anyway. The mayor did not disappoint. He immediately began to rant and rave at the pastor and finally said, "Why did you call me anyway? Isn't it your job to bury the dead?"
The preacher paused for a brief prayer and asked the Lord to direct response. He was led to say, "Yes, Mayor, it is my job to bury the dead, but I always like to notify the next of kin first!"

Another beautiful tribute, Billie.
LBGA, the FReeper Photo Album was a great idea, and I'm sure it took a lot of time to put together. Thank you for creating and maintaining the album and for ALL your contributions to FreeRepublic. :-)
