Last night during a conversation/debate between myself and the leader/owner of the Free Republic, Jim Robinson, a rather stunning revelation was brought forth. I asked Mr. Robinson, which Republicans were vocally backing, and supporting Tancredo in his fight for our sovereignty? After some delay, Jim answered, I have no idea. Immigration is not a big concern of mine.
This is from the man that runs the most well known, and respected, political conservative internet forum in the United States? And Mr. Robinson resides in California?
Below is the exchange
Conservatives, Cut Bush Slack The Chicago Sun-Times | June 22, 2002 | Thomas Roeser
To: Jim Robinson
#939: Oh, so the Republicans are fighting for our sovereignty? Besides Tancredo, which Republicans are these Jim? If you could be specific.
#1034: Which ones are not ?
#1056: You never answered my question Jim.
Since you failed to answer my question, I will go first.
Given thirty years of this open border, immigration "free for all" that has resulted in many millions entering our nation illegally, I believe there are very few Republicans, or anyone else in DC, besides Tancredo, that are visibly and vocally fighting for our national sovereignty.
Now would you care to tell me which Republicans are standing with Tancredo and voicing outrage against this titanic, never ending invasion of illegal aliens?

At first I as was stunned, angry, and felt let down. Then after some thought I wasnt too surprised.
Looking back at all the hundreds of immigration threads where many were deleted, disappeared and sent to the cornfield, I guess I am not too surprised. However, given the gravity and danger this country faces regarding this out of control, titanic immigration issue, I am still outraged, disheartened and saddened by Mr. Robinsons response. Thread after thread Freepers have displayed genuine outrage and honest concern regarding this issue. And the outrage and insanity regarding this issue goes far beyond the Free Republic.
Its escalated to the point now where many of our major cities in this country, such as Chicago, have now approved the use of identification cards, issued by Mexican consulates that will give illegal aliens access to financial and public services and more, as our so-called leaders stand treasonously silent, as our sovereignty is slowly dismantled.
This massive invasion of millions of illegal aliens has changed the face of many of our once great cities, from California to Illinois, to Georgia, to Tennessee, to Texas etc etc.
They are crowding our already over crowded classrooms, voting in our elections, choking off our social services, driving down the wages, while driving up our taxes, filling our jails, standing room only in many big city emergency rooms, etc, etc, etc. I personally know of six American citizens that have become victims of illegal alien crime, from having family members slaughtered on our highways by drunk driving illegal aliens, to stabbings, robberies and common burglaries.
And just recently, another young Deputy Sheriff was shot through the face and killed in California by an illegal alien, that has again fled back to the safety of Mexico. It has now been learned that this individual has already been deported three times, each time he has returned and committed more crimes in our country, leaving American victims in his wake, and each time he fled back to the safety of Mexico.
There are many forms of terrorism, and this continued invasion of millions upon millions is one form. And it's my opinion that its one of the most dangerous, most threatening issues facing America today. Even today as we speak, our federal government continues to allow in almost 8000 Middle Eastern men a month on visas. It is my opinion that this legal and illegal immigration free for all must be, stopped, extremely limited, and reformed immediately!
Again, I am extremely saddened and distressed by Mr. Robinson's response and lack of concern regarding this issue.
You Bet!
I guess I expected more from someone I truly respect and admire. I just didn't expect that response to this ever escalating crisis. I guess I was hoping for a true heavy weight to help support the fight against one of the most dangerous, threatening issues facing this great country.
Yep, it is and the elimination of state control over the election of senators has resulted in senators being influenced by major lobbying groups. You want REAL campaign finance reform? Eliminate the 17th Amendment. Senators used to have to answer directly to their states. Now, as you know, big money donors from, say, California or New York can have a major influence on a state election.
Once a senator is elected, he/she practically has the job for life. The concerns of the state have very little influence on them any longer. Bring things home closer to the people.
Neither is it of mine.
Brilliant. Thanks for weighing in on this.
Even if the guy at the top isn't really interested (and I say that respectfully) I would imagine most freepers consider it to be an important issue and are in favor of strongly limiting immigration and tightening our borders. And you're correct, it's not just an issue in the southwest, but throughout most major states from Illinois to Georgia to Pennsylvania
Which, of course, would all parallel the mindset within the Republican Party.
VDARE frequently and consistantly strays from legitimate immigration issues into thinly disquised racist propaganda. I strongly support JimRob's decision to ban posting of their articles on this forum. I also urge others with legitimate immigration concerns to denounce association with VDAREs twisted views.
The end of abortion.

After this November, the following will be off this list: Bob Barr (if he loses to Linder in the primary), John Cooksey (unless he drops out of his senate race against Sen. Landrieu), Lindsey Graham (very likely to be the next junior senator from South Carolina), Tony Hall (appointed to the Bush Administration), Robin Hayes (if he can't hold off his general election opponent in a Democrap gerrymandered district), Brian Kerns (lost in primary), Marge Roukema (retiring), Bob Schaffer (retiring), and Bob Stump (retiring). You'll also note that RINOs (as some have called them) Shays, Roukema, and Norwood are on this list.
This country we are now losing, was born of a revolution, with violence if you will. Are we to condemn our own birthright???? Our Founding Fathers would be ashamed of us for our timidity. Only 30 per cent of the colonists supported, bled and died for the revolution. The other 70 percent sat on the sidelines, wringing their hands, all the while waiting to join the victor, like vultures awaiting the spoils.
Prior to the revolution, the majority were willing to forego freedom, bow to the King in servitude and pay whatever taxes were levied. Fortunately for us, some were willing to give their all, and now we squander it away.
Neither is it of mine.
So, you're not a racist, but you are a homophobe?
Unjustly labeling people with leftist namecalling is not so appealing when it's done to you.
Actually I think it is downright frightening just how many Americans seem to think that that's a good idea. As to issuing driver's licenses and state ID's to illegal aliens, it seems that that may be a little fuzzy. One of the few legitimate roles of the federal government is protecting our borders and while the rights of individual states should supercede the feds in most things, I'm not sure this is one of them. Some crimes become federal crimes when they involve the crossing of state lines. The fact that illegals cross the national border to enter the country puts it in the category of a federal crime to begin with, in which case it seems to me that the states, rather than legitimizing people who have started out in this country in violation of our law, should be the point of contact whereby these individuals are outed and returned to their country of origin which is most often Mexico. Personally, I find it very scary that the majority of these people believe that they already have rights to the states of California, New Mexico, Arizona and Texas and think they're under no obligation at all to honor our laws.
Savage is 100% right on with this one.
You expected more...what?
More conformity with your opinions, that's what.
We all know Jim's a great man. When Jim agrees with us on an issue, we feel validated. It's an "atta-boy" and a thump on the back from the Big Man; it's a blessing from Dad. You're disappointed because you were expecting that emotional lift. You didn't get it, and now you're hurt. "How could he do this to me? The problem can't lie with me or my views...so perhaps he isn't so great, after all. But unfortunately, most people think he is, so I'd better call public attention to his backsliding."
But how, Jim. They love the power and they aren't going to lie down and allow it to be taken away from them. It gets very discouraging at times.
