According to Joe Hadenuf: Official Free Republic Position Parallels GOP On Immigration. No Big Deal
6/23/02 | Joe Hadenuf

Posted on 06/23/2002 12:52:24 PM PDT by Joe Hadenuf

Last night during a conversation/debate between myself and the leader/owner of the Free Republic, Jim Robinson, a rather stunning revelation was brought forth. I asked Mr. Robinson, which Republicans were vocally backing, and supporting Tancredo in his fight for our sovereignty? After some delay, Jim answered, “I have no idea. Immigration is not a big concern of mine.”

This is from the man that runs the most well known, and respected, political conservative internet forum in the United States? And Mr. Robinson resides in California?

Below is the exchange

Conservatives, Cut Bush Slack The Chicago Sun-Times | June 22, 2002 | Thomas Roeser

To: Jim Robinson

#939: Oh, so the Republicans are fighting for our sovereignty? Besides Tancredo, which Republicans are these Jim? If you could be specific.

#1034: Which ones are not ?

#1056: You never answered my question Jim.

Since you failed to answer my question, I will go first.

Given thirty years of this open border, immigration "free for all" that has resulted in many millions entering our nation illegally, I believe there are very few Republicans, or anyone else in DC, besides Tancredo, that are visibly and vocally fighting for our national sovereignty.

Now would you care to tell me which Republicans are standing with Tancredo and voicing outrage against this titanic, never ending invasion of illegal aliens?

At first I as was stunned, angry, and felt let down. Then after some thought I wasn’t too surprised.

Looking back at all the hundreds of immigration threads where many were deleted, disappeared and sent to the cornfield, I guess I am not too surprised. However, given the gravity and danger this country faces regarding this out of control, titanic immigration issue, I am still outraged, disheartened and saddened by Mr. Robinson’s response. Thread after thread Freepers have displayed genuine outrage and honest concern regarding this issue. And the outrage and insanity regarding this issue goes far beyond the Free Republic.

It’s escalated to the point now where many of our major cities in this country, such as Chicago, have now approved the use of identification cards, issued by Mexican consulates that will give illegal aliens access to financial and public services and more, as our so-called leaders stand treasonously silent, as our sovereignty is slowly dismantled.

This massive invasion of millions of illegal aliens has changed the face of many of our once great cities, from California to Illinois, to Georgia, to Tennessee, to Texas etc etc.

They are crowding our already over crowded classrooms, voting in our elections, choking off our social services, driving down the wages, while driving up our taxes, filling our jails, standing room only in many big city emergency rooms, etc, etc, etc. I personally know of six American citizens that have become victims of illegal alien crime, from having family members slaughtered on our highways by drunk driving illegal aliens, to stabbings, robberies and common burglaries.

And just recently, another young Deputy Sheriff was shot through the face and killed in California by an illegal alien, that has again fled back to the safety of Mexico. It has now been learned that this individual has already been deported three times, each time he has returned and committed more crimes in our country, leaving American victims in his wake, and each time he fled back to the safety of Mexico.

There are many forms of terrorism, and this continued invasion of millions upon millions is one form. And it's my opinion that it’s one of the most dangerous, most threatening issues facing America today. Even today as we speak, our federal government continues to allow in almost 8000 Middle Eastern men a month on visas. It is my opinion that this legal and illegal “immigration free for all” must be, stopped, extremely limited, and reformed immediately!

Again, I am extremely saddened and distressed by Mr. Robinson's response and lack of concern regarding this issue.

I am up in NH and still see immigration as a very big issue.

Yes, those people coming up here from Massachusetts even talk funny. Ay-uh.

Well whoop-tee-do. It's too bad that Jim Robinson can't take on your issue. He's a little too tied up in legal issues (for providing this website) and health problems. Get a life, Jim Robinson is not God and he can't have a statement on everything. Put yourself in his place for a moment. Illegal immigration is a big problem but Jim Robinson is only a man, running a website that you can come to if you want, and he has other things to worry about. Tact has never been one of his virtues, but courage always has, so go cry somewhere else.

Does the federal government have constitutional authority to dictate to the states regarding licensing?

Last time I checked, it was still a state right. Unless of course everyone wants a Federal ID with a chip in it.

My primary concern is the liberals/socialists taking complete control of the country. The founders never intended for the feds to have so much power. If you want to have a right to control or block immigration, abortion, gun grabbing, land grabbing, or whatever issue is important to you in your own state, then I think you should start by doing something about replacing the liberal activist judges that make all this balony possible. How do you do that? Deny the liberals a majority in the Senate. Deny them control of the Congress. Keep them out of the Whitehouse. Deny them control of your local governments.

Joe....

Jim robinson personally may not be concerned, to those of us that are, this human wave from the south is indeed a problem. In fact, it may well be more than a problem, it may indeed be a danger to our way of life.

We are importing people that have no intent or desire of joining mainstream America and down the road someone will have to reckon with it.

Florida now requires proof of citizenship before licenses are issued, and has licenses tied to visas, the drivers license expires on the same day as the visa.

If a cop pulls over someone with no license, or an expired license, its a sure bet that it's an illegal alien.

You can always tell who's in the country illegally now, they're the ones that are doing 5 miles an hour under the speed limit in the left lane on I95.

If your State doesn't have a similiar law, petition your state represenatative to introduce legislation, and make it an election issue.

Thank you for your candid responce.I find it odd that this site has so much information on this particular issue, yet a poster would complain about an "official" FR stance, or lack of interest by others.I find plenty of debate available on every immigration article.

Thank you Jim, for this wonderfull forum, and may I advise those who are not interested in certain issues, do as most of us do.Ignore and/or don't respond to the subjects in which you have no interest or time to research.(advise once given to me by you ,JR, that I have done my best to follow, not always perfectly);^)

Look at it like a railroad train...the various cars are all issues...I think Jim says throw the switch on the engine and the whole train heads into the siding...vs..picking on one of the cars and trying to pull it out of the train..???

I used to go to the beach in SC every year. I'm from Upstate New york.
I was told it was hard to understand what I was saying. It sounded to them like I had "a mouthful of marbles."
I was asking the lady at the ice cream cart if she had any cream cicles. She never did understand what I was saying. I said it about 4 times! (I do talk fast, though). so I just pointed at the fudge cicles and moved on.
I'll always remember that with "Good Humor."

It's my personal opinion. Free Republic does not have an official opinion. The FReepers speak for themselves.

This is what makes us great Jim. You've for the most part only exercised your will around here as a last resort.

I've really thought a lot about some of the things you were saying last night, as you're one of the few people around here who's opinion I give a rat's ass about.

I'M TRYING, I'M TRYING, EVERY CHANCE THAT I GET!

They are even in NH and gaining ground! It's killing me! I just believe that if a person is illegally in this country, every State, County, and Town should work to report them and get them sent out of our country.

Illegal is illegal period.

Since I have never had your ear before, may I just say thank you and all those who worked with you did get this site going!

We have Liberals running the State Governments it seems.

I am conservative. The people I know in my day to day life consider me to be ultra right wing.

Immigration is pretty far down on my list of important issues. Fighting terrorism, abortion, taxes, reigning in judicial activism, wresting control of education away from the teachers' unions, protecting gun rights, combating the spread of communism and anarchism worldwide, and advancing federalism are all issues that are more important to me than immigration. So is breaking the grip that the left has on blacks and other minorites at the polls.

But when I do see it discussed on here, the people who side on controlling immigration more, which is what my opinion is, tend to anger me in their tactics and the way they go about arguing the position that I have realized that as long as they are the ones pushing for immigration reform, we aren't going to make any headway. There is entirely too much demagoguery from the anti-imigration side, and too much acceptance of those who clearly hold racist views. That pisses me off, since it pretty much takes the issue away from us. Why would I fight for something when I am ashamed of those who I would have to fight with? (BIG DISCLAIMER: I am not saying you are a racist or that YOU tolerate racists. What I am saying is that when a racist shows up on those threads, the anti-immigration side never seems to put that person in his place)

Your criticizm of Jim Robinson is not appreciated by this FREEPER.

There is no place in the world quite like this web site. We have our opinions and people can agree or disagree but I don't appreciate you or anyone else criticizing the person who made this place possible.

I believe the people of the State of California tried to do something about it, but were overturned by liberal judges. Immigration is not the problem, liberalism is. Deny the liberals their federal power and a lot of these problems will be taken care of by the people.

While I'm at it, the one single event that did the most to destroy the constitutionally limited government established by our founders (IMHO) was the 17th amendment. This effectively denied the right of the states to their equal representation to the federal government. This made the federal takeover possible. That, combined with the 16th, which gave the feds the tools to fund this monstrosity. Repeal these two amendments, give the states back their representatives, eliminate the income tax, and you defund and defang the beast.

Joe, people in government don't like to talk about this, and so they don't. But the alternative to what's happening is rather massive social unrest, possibly with euthanasia and assisted suicide, starting in about 20 years.

There's no way to support all the old people, Joe. You've seen the Social Security math. There aren't enough people reaching adulthood to pay all the Social Security taxes we're going to need. Those Mexicans are the people who are going to pay those taxes, Joe. They are going to feed the old people.

We can't afford to feed the old folks otherwise, Joe. We'll have to kill them. Nicely, perhaps. In a kind way. But for the children. We can't have one retiree for every worker. That's too big a strain on families that are trying to raise children. Do we starve the children? Or starve the old? Or let in lots of immigrants to raise the worker-to-retiree ratio?

Nobody wants to talk about that. But in the absence of talking about it, the decision has been made. And you know what? Given the choices, it could be worse. Unlike Western Europe, which faces the same problem, our immigrants don't want to kill us in the name of Allah. Most of them just want to come here and work the same as, well, our own immigrant grandparents did.

If we were still having big families, you would have a point. But white America is not even reproducing at the replacement rate. The country as a whole is barely meeting that yardstick, and that's with the immigrants thrown in. A culture that will not reproduce itself will be overrun. Get over it. You can't stop Nature; you either "be fruitful and multiply," or those who do inherit your Earth. Don't blame the gubment for that. That one comes from On High.
