Immigration is pretty far down on my list of important issues. Fighting terrorism, abortion, taxes, reigning in judicial activism, wresting control of education away from the teachers' unions, protecting gun rights, combating the spread of communism and anarchism worldwide, and advancing federalism are all issues that are more important to me than immigration. So is breaking the grip that the left has on blacks and other minorites at the polls.
But when I do see it discussed on here, the people who side on controlling immigration more, which is what my opinion is, tend to anger me in their tactics and the way they go about arguing the position that I have realized that as long as they are the ones pushing for immigration reform, we aren't going to make any headway. There is entirely too much demagoguery from the anti-imigration side, and too much acceptance of those who clearly hold racist views. That pisses me off, since it pretty much takes the issue away from us. Why would I fight for something when I am ashamed of those who I would have to fight with? (BIG DISCLAIMER: I am not saying you are a racist or that YOU tolerate racists. What I am saying is that when a racist shows up on those threads, the anti-immigration side never seems to put that person in his place)
Now that's what I'm saying. You, for one, at least act like you give a damn about this particular issue. Can't say that for a ton of others here. Strip away at least 15% of the black vote and the RATS are totally doomed.
Well said, Dales (even if you are from Piggsburgh).
