Just the headline
But, yes, I agree that that Second Amendment position is unquestionably one of the good things that has come out of this adminstration. I don't take either the "Bush is a liberal" nor the "Bush is always right" position. I think overall, he's what I expected, which is mostly good. I also think it helps him when conservatives remind him who got him elected.
Try the freeware app, "popup killer."
I tried it but there are so many new popups... it's easier just to ALT-f4 it.
I gave you an extensive list of his conservatism, RE:228.
So far, you've ignored it.
I'll take that for meaning, you can't defend your original remarks.
Deb, this comment is just so hilarious that I just had to repeat it here, like a golden oldie.
Regards, caddie
The enviro wackos were pissed at Al Gore and voted for Nader, so that doesn't meany anything. The wackos are pissed that we are not moving ahead with Kyoto, but they are too dumb to realize that Kyoto doesn't even reduce greenhouse gas emmissions, but just shifts wealth from the US/Japan to other countries including the EU. Bush was good on Kyoto, but is now setting up the debate so that it is lost in the future.
In and of itself, nothing.
What I expect from the liberales:
< whiny joe lieberman voice >
"Well, it's about time that Bush receognized the reality of globull$hit warming. Now, will he put his money where his mouth is?"
< /whiny joe lieberman voice >
No matter what W proposes in the way of a "solution", the dims will one-up him. It's only our money, after all. No, wait, it's the money of the "evil rich". You know, W's Big Energy buddies. In a war of who is williing to spend more tax money to cure an environmental "problem", no Repoublican can ever come out a winner. At least I hope that's still the case...
Just give us a list of those things that would make you walk.
Bet you can't.
I am not going to walk away, but I am darn sure not
going to close my eyes, lay back, and try to enjoy it either.
Well, I think what I've heard (not so much from Rush, but from other hosts) is that he's doing too much of the wrong things (like frisking grandma at the airport gate) and not enough of the right things (like suspending student visas from places like Saudi Arabia, or allowing vanloads of illegal Pakistani immigrants to be detained).
Suppose there is evidence that some global warming is occurring or has occurred. Actual evidence, not anecdotal stuff and models.
This would not be the first time there has been climate change in historical times. We have the records of grape-growing areas far north of where they are now viable.
We also have the record of the Little Ice Age, when the Thames froze over every winter.
It is quite possible that we are now in a cyclic climate change again, which can be called "global warming" but is as natural as the change of the seasons. Some portion of it might (and I say MIGHT) be accelerated slightly by human contributions.
It seems to me that a responsible president who looks at more than his next election might start pointing the country and the world towards actions to mitigate a disaster, and as has been repeatedly pointed out, he is not thinking Kyoto will help. The statements about adapting to the situation are indicative of this attitude.
Most people have discounted global warming because the left has used it as a tool to promote radical environmental policies. What if there really IS global warming? Most of the people who don't believe in it have no more scientific proof on their side than the loony envirals do on theirs.
What could be more serious than taking down our Pentagon, our World Trade Center (perceived by the towelheads as like a mecca-type monolith) and, as they had planned, the White House?
[That is what the Pennsylvania flight was going to do, most people think.]
Just what does it take, my friend, to get your dander up?
9/11 was more terrible, higher profile, and more provocative, than even 12/7/41. Do you disagree?
What does provocation have to be for you?
A nuke on NYC?
10 million Americans dead?
What?
At what point will you conclude that W is just a wimp?
The enviro whackos are still pissed. We can pontificate on this until the cows come home, but Bush has positioned himself on this issue and the enviro whackos are pissed because they can't bash him with this issue, IMHO.
I know, I know, it's not "principle" and that is what the NYT focused on. They focused on dividing the base and it looks like Drudge, Rush, and Hannity took the bait hook, line, and sinker.
Thank God they are in "entertainment" and not in the real world of politics.
It is quite possible that we are now in a cyclic climate change again, which can be called "global warming" but is as natural as the change of the seasonsIf it is cyclical, then there is no global warming, just a temporary phase of a cycle around a norm. Global warming implies an increasing norm.
Stating that there is going to be all the environmental wreckage that the report claims is specious at best, and cedes entirely too much of the philosophical battle to the left, for no reason that I can fathom, unless Mudboy Slim is right that this is to placate some of our allies to aid the war on terrorism.
Ahh yes, the thousands of Nobel prise winners, that say it
is so, so it must be true. After all these people are the brightest
of the bright.
Problem is they are not climatoligists. Look at their research
then come back and report what they think about this.
Ever wonder how we had multiple Ice Ages? And all that before
man even thought of cars.
As has my favored POTUS, Dubyuh...
"By equating the usual soccer mom 'liberal' to conservatives and Republicans may be harsh, and may even be true in some cases, but this to me shows that Rush has become all show and no substance."
Sorry, my FRiend, because we agree on quite a lot, but the willingness to challenge those closest to you does not distract from your "substance", IMHO. Dubyuh's doing things that are out-of-character for a Conservative POTUS and those who continue to ignore that reality are not serving Dubyuh's--or the Nation's--long-term interests.
"Didn't Rush once say never to trash your own? He used to be able to see beyond the surface. Maybe we are seeing the real Rush."
If you believe Rush has something against Dubyuh, I believe you may be reading the tea leaves incorrectly. There are folks within Dubyuh's Administration who do not believe that we presently have too much Federal input in our day-to-day lives, but I don't believe Dubyuh's one of them. Still, with his focus on whuppin' International Terrorism, perhaps he underestimates the commitment those of us on the Right have against National Terrorism, which includes our antagonism towards an over-sized Federal Leviathan.
"Heck, maybe we are seeing the real Dubya. And while I haven't agreed with the President on some issues, I know I've disagreed more with Rush."
Dubyuh's not his Daddy...and from what I've witnessed, this recent affection for an all-powerful, ever-expanding Central Bureaucracy is not what Bush II naturally supports. Limbaugh's certainly pointing that out, but at some time in the future, I believe Dubyuh will acknowledge that Rush's CONSTRUCTIVE Criticism has been advantageous.
"I hate to say it people, but with all this in-fighting, we don't need to worry about the liberals in 02 or 04. We need to worry about each other. United we stand, divded we fall- and the Dems are loving every single minute of it. I guess the only good that could possibly come from all this is that with a common enemy, we'll all unite together once again- just like we did on Nov. 7th, 2000 and Sept. 11th, 2001."
Winning in November is my primary goal as well, especially with TinyTom D'Asshole in control in the Seante...however, winning will be soooo much more important for the next two years if we are winning in support of an Agenda that those of us in favor of a DisEmpowered Federal Leviathan support!! Our ideas are RIGHT...but to implement them, we must be prepared to argue in favor of them--and win over the Hearts and Minds of the Sheeple--instead of sneaking them in under the radar!!
FReegards...MUD
"One can only dream...
Dreamin's good, but Action's BETTER!!
That is actually one of the more plausible theories suggested in this thread. I had noticed in European statements after the attacks, a strange linkage they wished to make to Kyoto.
