QUOTE OF THE DAY: All Memorial Days are solemn days, particularly for those who mourn the loss of a loved one. All Memorial Days are days in which Americans ought to give thanks for freedom and the fact that somebody sacrificed for their freedom. This Memorial Day is the first Memorial Day in a long time in which younger Americans know firsthand the price that was paid for their freedom.

Hello, I think our president is doing well on his trip. However some of the press is saying he is tired and testy.

rintense, thank you so much. At first, I was disappointed that President Bush would not be here on American soil for Memorial Day, until I heard that he will be at Normandy, the final resting place for so many brave American soldiers in World War II.

Howdy rintense, I have been watching the Memorial Day Program on Public TV. It has been great. One of the songs they played was "Summon the Heroes" which was our theme for an "I Love America" program several years ago at WBC. They also did the 5 military hymns which we do every year at ILA. There was just one thing wrong with that and that was the enuciation of the words to the songs--was very hard to understand what they were singing on the Coast Guard song. The pictures are great tonight as usual. My husband just got home from his fishing trip--took our grandson who got a bad sunburn. They had a good time, though and that is all that matters. Don't think they caught too many fish!!!! MamaB

Thank you Rintense, I came here after viewing the HBO special on 911, a hard thing to watch, so it is so good to see the President and Laura on their worldwind tour.
Just beautiful pictures, gorgeous artworks, lovely roses, and our good looking First Couple!
I have an ache inside after watching the tribute on HBO. The show was so well done, a wonderful yet gut wrenching account of that terrible day.
May God bless those who risked their lives to help their fellow man and woman that day, and God Bless the United States of America's fighting forces who are avenging that despicable murderous act.

In this simulated engraving President Bush addresses the issue of terrorism in front of the Pentagon,
as Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld looks on. I thought some of the Bush supporters might like it.

Will post the Psalms later today - for yesterday. Thank you for this service to Free Republic members and lurkers - again.
Am a bit down today - will be back later. God bless those serving in our military and thank God for those who gave their lives for our freedoms. We can do no less than give our own lives in service - however that may be found - to our country, to our families, and to our God!
