Dear Cookie, Kooky, or whatever her name is, if the pilot wanted to "go off his nut", why bother with a gun? He could just crash the plane.

When Cokie and Sam take their next flight, I sincerely hope the pilots will refuse to fly them. Pilots have the authority to throw any suspicious passenger off the plane, and they don't have to give a reason, either.

"Having some pilot whos gone off his nut for some reason running around with a gun does not make me feel safe. This could go down in FReeper history as one of the most moronic statements ever!

"Can ya'll believe the logic of these people? Jeez!" What do you think those checks from the "United Nations Disarm America" fund are all about?

September 11th was the result of everything that liberals stand for, such as:
Guns are bad
Americans do not have a Right to self defense
Americans do not have a Right to carry guns
Americans should not fight back and resist criminals
Profiling is bad
Discrimination is the most evil thing in the world.
Islam is a religion of peace.
Now we are seeing two more things emerge:
1) Liberals will never admit when they are wrong, and
2) Republicans are too stupid or they lack the backbone to capitalize on the situation and repudiate liberalism for once and for all.

I do not understand this conversation.
The vast majority of american commercial pilots are prior-service military; that is how they got their training. Flying military aircraft, equipped with guns and bombs.
And a large percentage are military reservists - listen to the airlines scream every time the pilots are called up.
So - we can trust them to fly $300 million airplanes, loaded to the hilt with ordinance, or carrying 300+ civilian passengers, but not to carry a pistol?
This is stupid beyond any measure.

"Suppose the hijackers had pulled the gun out of the pilots hand if the pilot had a gun? Wow, Cokie, good point. If that had happened then those guys could have done anything they wanted, even taken over the planes entirely and flown them into.....oh wait, that happened anyway. And because the passengers were completely unarmed, not because the pilot had a gun which was stolen from him. And Cokie had the nerve to criticize Bush's debating skills and "gravitas"?

"Having some pilot whos gone off his nut for some reason running around with a gun does not make me feel safe."
'Course some pilot who's gone off his nut being at the controls of the plane doesn't bother her feeling of safety. The solution, of course, is to not allow any pilots on the plane either. Then Cokie can feel perfectly safe. Sam Donaldson can fly it.

During takeoff or landing, a pilot who wanted to go out in a blaze of glory could do so in a heartbeat. As a whole, commercial pilots are men & women of integrity and the chance of such an incident is virtually nil. Arm them. Help them to do the job they are paid to do, that is, control & fly an aircraft from Point A to Point B, prepared & trained to face any & all hazards.

Pilots with guns scare ABCs Cokie Roberts because airplanes is one of the few places I feel safe from guns... Airplanes is? Airplanes is? This idiot (Cokie) earns a living with the English language (spoken/written)?
Hey Ms. Cokehead. It's airplanes ARE!

Roberts interjected: Suppose the hijackers had pulled the gun out of the pilots hand if the pilot had a gun? What a dumb, emotionally-driven slit.
It would have meant that the plane would hit its intended target - just as it did.
However, an armed crew member would have increased the chance that they would have never gotten control of the cockpit. No downside - only an upside.
To: Draakan
I'll tell you this. There may be a few, and I mean a
few pilots who don't want to carry a gun in the cockpit. However, their
wives want them armed.
Even Cokie, with her very limited intelligence, can probably figure out why.
To: Draakan
If either Donaldson or Roberts were to be awarded Darwin Awards as a result of some action due to their mental prowess, the collective aggregate IQ of the entire world would go up at least a couple points (if not more).

I wonder how safe asshole cokie feels about passengers with boxcutters?
To: Draakan
The Egyptian Air pilot went off his nut and killed everyone. We know that the current no-gun policy didn't work. It's a small chance but the other pilot who was trying to save the plane might have shot the suicidal pilot.
A small chance, but better than nothing.

This segment was a hoot! Obviously, Kookie thinks this is all about her. She really flipped out. She doesn't have the brain capacity to see the big picture or to think that there might be a bigger loss than her getting shot. She is really, really lame.
To: Draakan
I know this is off the subject of guns in the cockpit, but....
Heard today that Boston Judge who is to hold Cardinal Law's deposition wants to do so NOW. She has heard that he may be called to Rome . She "supposed " that he might be made ambassador. Diplomatic immunity??
SO...isn't Cokie's Mom the current ambassador?
Cokie might have to "fly" there to bring her home. She does know that Air Marshalls are armed doesn't she?
To: Draakan
From the time the plane lifts off until it lands, the pilot has every passengers' life in his hands. Yet, Kookie is worried about a side-arm in the possession of the very person flying the plane has her worried? Somebody needs to slap common sense in this b**ch.
