Election data savant Nate Silver said over the weekend that Vice President Kamala Harris passed up a “big opportunity” with her choice of running mate, a move which polls indicate could cost the Democrat a crucial swing state.
The FiveThirtyEight founder wrote in his “Silver Bulletin” newsletter Sunday that the 59-year-old “blew one big opportunity to tack to the center with her selection of [Minnesota Gov.] Tim Walz rather than [Pennsylvania Gov.] Josh Shapiro.”
Silver was responding to a New York Times/Siena College poll which showed nearly half (47%) of likely voters considered Harris too liberal, a reflection of her abortive 2020 presidential campaign in which she staked out several far-left positions.

Everyone says she make a poor choice. I think Walz is the only person who didn’t say no.
They make Shapiro sound like the backup QB on every college football team. If only they would put him in, they would win.
You don’t think she didn’t pick Josh Shapiro, because of the potential backlash?
Shapiro turned her down cold. Idiots
I’m guessing behind the scenes, Shapiro took himself out of the running, so it was never a choice to begin with.
But she could have/should have picked someone better than the guy she did pick, who looks in over his head as well.
La-os-er
When Harris Waltz lose PA, they lose the whole thing. No path to win.
If he said no, what difference would her thoughts matter?
All the handsome men already had dates for the Sadie Hawkins Dance. Walz was the only one left.
Walz being picked means to me they knew they will be losing this election. Their internal polling drove the decision to dump Biden, and they don't want to waste potential future talent by getting squished this cycle.
The propaganda organs can only do so much. People who are honest with themselves know that voters have had enough of the status quo.
I don’t think Josh Shapiro is any more in control of his own political career as Kamala Harris is within the Democrat Party.
Ha
..commielaw picked no one...our overlords did the pickin’
When she says she's changed her mind on an issue,?it's a lie or she would have picked a more moderate governor.
Her staff is far left looney trans. Any old Bill Clinton advisors on her team? She hire the Leper Colony Cajun?
She could have picked a more conservative senator, like Bernie Sanders. But maybe he turned her down.
i think the dems have been very clear about their
“no jews allowed” policy
She chose a fellow traveler. No more complicated than that.
But the large and lunatic Jew hating wing of the dem (communist) party would have flipped if she picked a Jewish former IDF soldier as a running mate.
That’s the pickle with identity politics. Make one wing happy, piss off another.
If I were Walz, and wanted the dems to win, I’d back out. But that’s not going to happen; this is his big chance to be somebody! This time, for real! He’s a giant albatross on an already sinking ship. Good.
Exactly... he’s smart enough to avoid being on a losing ticket.
