Chris Hayes called the Electoral College “a wildly dangerous institution that undermines democracy'
MSNBC host Chris Hayes fumed over new poll results showing former President Trump as the favorite to win the Electoral College and therefore the presidency in November.
On his X account Friday, the "All in With Chris Hayes" anchor blasted recent poll results from famed pollster Nate Silver showing that Harris would most likely beat Trump in the national popular vote if the election were held today, though Trump would win the Electoral College.
"It’s clear as day the Electoral College is, to quote the great Justice Jackson a national suicide pact," Hayes posted.

You’re wrong - they should be appointed by their state legislators, as was the case from r over a century. As things are now, tens of millions of dollars are flowing from California and New York to defeat Ter Cruz in Texas, as only one example., WH should out of state people have any influence over who is any other state’s senators?
Yes the 17th Amendment really needs to be repealed!!
Joe Biden was nominated by popular vote.
The left believes anything they don’t like is Nazi.
Of courses Chris knows America is a Constitutional Republic and that the electoral college was and is an integral protection from mass/mob rule. Back in the founders’ days that was the potential of overwhelming populations in Philadelphia, New York City, Boston, etc. running rough sod over the rest of the 13 colonies wants, needs and desires.
It is exactly the same today except the list of rat infested hugh-population cities and counties has expanded, but still in just a few states or areas. Were this country left to popular vote, there are states and areas where their citizens would have no effective representation, or input to any national posts.
“a wildly dangerous institution that undermines democracy”
Goodness, it’s a wonder we’ve survived it for nearly 250 years.
Poor Chris wants a dictatorship. He can’t stand the fact that “the people” are totally fed up with the Junta running things. He needs meds.
Don’t kid ourselves MSNBC and other fake news are at the core of the RATS “big cheat” effort to encourage wrongdoers to steal another election.
No, he doesn’t. I’d rather go back to when Senators were elected by the states legislatures to represent the interests of the STATES, not just a popularity contest for people who already got to vote for a representative in Congress.
If it weren’t for the Electoral College, communism would have totally consumed the USA long ago.
I thought that Harris was ahead of Trump in all the polls according to the MSM.
Chris Hayes called the Electoral College “a wildly dangerous institution that undermines democracy’
Uh, yeah pal, that’s its job, to frustrate morons like you.
Democrats are fine with law and order until they start losing. Then the law is corrupt and must be changed.
Explain why, please.
“America was founded as a representative republic. A federation of various separate and distinct nation states. I do not want to live in a democracy with an all powerful central government.”
Exactly right. Except for a few enumerated areas, the states were to be sovereign. But look where we are today. The big central federal government thugs have had their way.
Yes, it undermines majority-rule democracy, but upholds the Republic.
If the Electoral College wasn’t in The Constitution it would be unconstitutional.
This guy is so smart!!!
Tragically, the nation has been living with an all powerful central government ever since the North won the Civil War. That was the turning point when the sovereignty of the states ceased to exist. Growth of the federal government was given a turbo boost with the "reforms" of the Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson eras thanks to the income tax, direct election of senators, and creation of the federal reserve.
First repeal the 16th and 19th.
Realistic study about a society run by popular vote, try Cuba, The USSR, Venezuela, or any euorpean shithole country.
You might want to think about that.
