If there were any doubt whether Vice President Kamala Harris has transformed this year’s presidential election, Saturday morning’s latest New York Times/Siena College polls put it to rest.
In the first Times/Siena College swing state polls since her entry into the race, Harris leads former President Donald Trump by 4 points each in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin among likely voters. It’s a major shift from previous Times/Siena polls, which found Trump leading Harris and President Joe Biden by an average of 1 or 2 points each across the same three states.
Sometimes, it can be hard to explain why polls shift from week to week or month to month. In today’s polarized politics, it can even be hard to explain why voters ever shift at all. In this case, it’s easy: Harris’ entry into the race has upended the fundamentals of this election.
Until now, the basic dynamic of the race was driven by Biden’s unpopularity. It prevented Democrats from running their usual strategy against Trump and his MAGA allies: Make an election a referendum on Trump by running a broadly acceptable candidate. Millions of voters were left with an agonizing choice between two candidates they disliked.
With Harris riding an extraordinary wave of momentum at the top of the ticket, at least for now, the usual political dynamic of the Trump era has been restored. In the poll, at least 49% of likely voters in each of Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin say they have a favorable view of her, a level neither Harris nor Biden obtained in any previous Times/Siena poll this cycle.
Whether this will last is an entirely different question.

We have quite a few of those ppl right here on FR.
She has fundamentally changed the race, until the honeymoon is over.
(The DNC is August 19 to 22.)
Pumled.
The chattering class was saying several weeks ago that voters were pretty much locked in and weren’t changing.
The narrative is that has all changed.
If it has changed it means that people are voting against their financial interests (which would be a first, this is how we got Clinton) and for their genitalia.
Democrats have figured out they can just say Trump will take away birth control, IVF, abortion, “gender affirming care”, etc.If you remember Trump was seen by Republicans as too socially liberal in 2016. He chose Pence as VP in part to counter this image.
None of which is true but it scares enough voters.
Her hoonymoon ended when she picked Waltz.
Kamala hasn’t done anything but stay out of sight. The socialist propaganda organs have been hard at work, though.
They are going to have to manufacture enough polls like this to explain the high vote totals that roll in after the “election.”
Bush One avoided campaigning against Clinton, saying that he was waiting for the debates in October. Didn't do him any good. He started behind in the polls, and he stayed behind after the debates.
And next week she will be Spanish from Puerto Rico.
Perhaps you meant “pummeled”?
It was never our trash.
We have enough trash here in the U.S., without worrying about Israel or Ukraine.
Honestly, I understand that there’s a cohort of voters who hate Trump for their various and sundry reasons. And likewise I understand that there’s a cohort of voters for whom preserving abortion is the top issue... and are thus going to vote Democrat hell or high water. And finally I understand that there’s a cohort of voters who are going to vote for Kamala on the basis of her race(s). But what I don’t understand is how those cohorts add up to a majority in this country. I have a terrible time wrapping my head around the idea that a majority of this country wants open borders, runaway inflation, soft-on-criminality policies, economic failure that Harris-Walz represent.
The majority of the country look at San Francisco and Minneapolis, and want do that nationwide? Seriously?
At least with Biden no one really thought he was a doctrinaire dyed-in-the-wool leftist. He was an opportunistic grifter for whom pandering to the left was an expedient way to gain power which he and his family could monetize. Harris-Walz are something else entirely. Does a majority want to commit national suicide? Because that’s what this ticket represents.
Yes
Before Harris/Walz!
I was a patriotic Trump supporter. Now with the flashy negro-american and vivacious Tampon Tim, I’m gonna switch my vote. I,now, love communism, open borders, drag queens with my kids, and giving up all of my guns!(sarc)

Please, Slide over and make room for me, my friends, and my family!
I agree totally with your last sentence.
i agree on all counts...her ads during the olympics are a joke- “i want an economy where you work one job to pay your bills”....yet the past fours years don’t matter.
Have not seen a Trump ad once- though i am not in a battleground state.
I pray you’re right. 4 years of her in office will finish destroying this nation.
Kamala didn’t change anything. The media is doing their duty and carrying her horizontally through the landscape.
One of the subunits of the propaganda arm of The Democrat Party Organized Crime Syndicate does their foreign masters bidding.
Dont worry the concerned few are very concerned lol
