Local police encountered attempted-assassin Thomas Crooks just moments before he tried to kill former president Donald Trump — but failed to stop the gunman despite the clear threat, according to a report.
After rallygoers spotted Crooks on the roof of a manufacturing plant just 130 yards from the stage where Trump was speaking just after 6 p.m. Tuesday, police were notified and one officer climbed a ladder to investigate, law enforcement officials said on the condition of anonymity.
There the officer encountered Crooks, who pointed his AR-style rifle at them.
The officer then backed down the ladder, and Crooks immediately took aim and loosed eight shots at the former president – grazing him in the ear, killing one bystander in the rally crowd, and gravely wounding two others.

It should be known that by saying "the officer" it avoids identifying gender. Also, by saying "at them," in avoids identifying gender.
The latest psycho leftist journalism trend is to identify as single person as "them" to avoid identifying their gender.
Here is probably what is meant:

Why was it even permitted for even a ladder to be there? The shooter must have brought his own ladder, climbed and and crawled across the roof in full sight of everybody.
It also seems to me that this means there was pre-planning and he definitely knew where to go, probably because he had rehearsed it or at least been there to check it out.
As for the cop who backed down the ladder, it’s possible that he thought that the shooter himself was some part of security. This seems to have been a total clown show where nobody knew what anybody else was doing or even what they should be doing themselves.

Remember, police officers are not there to help anyone or stop illegal activities.
As this occasion proves, they are there to back down, give a thumbs up to whatever crime a criminal wants to do, and, instead, apparently spend time harassing only innocent people, with abandon.
They are your local version of UN Peacekeeping troops. You pay for the privilege of having such a service.
And if a president is directly at risk and can be encouraged to be killed by such people, you can plainly see how they were expected to behave for people like you.
What I want to know is why the Secret Service wasn’t on top of that roof.

Shooting at a presidential candidate is a terrible crime. But for some people, a greater crime is accidentally using the wrong pronouns when talking about someone.
Hence, the “them” for one person, instead of taking a risk and picking either “him” or “her”.
It’s all part of the idiotic new world brought to you courtesy of the “progressive” Democrat Party.
In the coverage, saw a number of female secret service agents fumbling around. If the primary force around President Trump are men, why aren’t the secondary force? Not a chauvinist here, you just use the right tool for the job. Your NFL running back isn’t going to be a woman, even if she’s built like Rosie O’Donnell or Michelle Obama.

We all saw, in real time, what happened. Donald Trump came within millimeters of being assassinated.
A rooftop was within firing distance and was not secured by the USSS.
Fire was not returned until after many shots were fired.
The information on the assassin was that he was a “Republican..”
The personal records/phone/etc are being “investigated” by the same FBI that had orders to shoot to kill on a raid of the former President’s home.
The Junta cannot “sanitize for their protection” because every rational person can see what happened here. The Junta tried to assassinate Donald John Trump. Why? You fill in the blanks. Thank heavens the shooter missed.
That or one of the cops from Uvalde got a gig in Pennsylvania.

I haven’t seen that mentioned before. But now that I think about it, it’s quite possible. You’ve got the Secret Service there, plus the PA State Police and local police from many jurisdictions.
The Secret Service site commander was probably a political hire. That’s just how today’s government rolls. So, yeah. As you noted, it could have been a total clown show where nobody knew where anybody else was.
