The need for stability and experience should eliminate the young MAGA-in-a-hurry types like Sen. J.D. Vance or Members of the House.
As the GOP convention nears, and voters focus on the election, the race remains closer than it should be given Mr. Biden’s infirmities. Swing voters still worry about Mr. Trump and the possibility of four more years of turmoil. The former President can help his campaign, and the country, by projecting stability and calm.
We know many readers will think this is impossible, and maybe it is. Yet he showed admirable restraint after the debate last week, letting Democrats implode, until his profane golf-cart outburst.
The opportunity is there to present a reassuring alternative if Mr. Trump wants to take it. And he has a timely opening to send that message with his vice presidential choice in the next week. Now leading in the polls, he doesn’t need an attack-dog VP or someone to rally his core voters. He needs a choice who shows mature judgment and has the ability to appeal to anxious and undecided voters.

So, WSJ want Mitt Romney for VP. No surprise there.
WSJ Editorial Board is a bad faith actor. Ignore them.
He’s all in for Ukraine. Supports the FBI and domestic spying.
Tim Scott? The same Tim Scott that reaffirmed 2 weeks ago that Trump lost the 2020 fair and square?
That Tim Scott?
I like Dr Ben Carson. I also like Lt Col (ret) Allen West.
No assistant democrats.
No Tim Scott, Gabbard, Haley, Cheney, Romney, or any of the other deep state sympathizers.
This is for all the marbles, MAGA Conservatives, or it’s over.
Mike Pence worked out so well.
The only criteria is zero Swamp experience.
That generally means any political career disqualifies.
And we would have another 77 year old running for President in 4 years.
Not to mention his milquetoast personality to put everyone to sleep.
Sure hope you are right about Scott. Trump’s #1 criteria for a veep is loyalty and I think that Scott is showing he can be that man.
I feel like I've heard this line before....
Hmm. I say anyone that's been similarly "approved" by insiders as offering stability and maturity should be quickly shunned.
Sure hope you are right about Scott. Trump’s #1 criteria for a veep is loyalty and I think that Scott is showing he can be that man.
I like Dr.Ben Carson. The problem is the last time I saw him be interviewed he looked so tired. What he said was great but he just looked so tired. I hope he is is not having any physical health issues. Love the man.
If the WSJ says no to Vance, he’s my pick.
Carson +1
Too dull & boring. Lacks charisma.
I’m amazed at how many on our side pass off Pompeo as some deep state hack. Why? Because he was Director of the CIA? Yes, he was. Why, exactly? Because DJT sent him into the belly of the beast for that mission. Then, DJT sent him around the world as Secretary of State. If your mission is to slay the Deep State and the globalists, CIA Director and Secretary of State would be the two main avenues of focus and Pompeo alone had two of the most important missions of the DJT first term. Pompeo has always been loyal to DJT and a trusted advisor. He is completely vetted, with no chance of any “surprises” possible with each of the others. A Military man. Patriot. Religious. DJT and Pompeo foreign policy was the sole reason there were no wars during DJT45 reign. I repeat, no war. That fact alone blows up the deep state neoCon tripe. Pompeo is the most qualified out of all of them on the VP list, by far. Ready to go up against Harris or any other highly-qualified Dem VP candidate. Most importantly, ready to be President of the United States on day one, which is, per DJT, the most important qualification for his thinking on choosing a VP, and he is young enough to carry the torch through to 2036. DJT already told us who it’s going to be. The most qualified. That’s Pompeo, and it will be a great choice.
I thought one of the qualifications was saying the election was stolen. Tim thinks it was done fair and square.
He wanted to assassinate Julian with no trial.
