DOJ can 'force' Alito, Thomas to recuse themselves on SCOTUS cases: Dem lawmaker
Fox News ^ | May 30, 2024 | Lindsay Kornick

Top Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin argued in the New York Times this week that Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito could, in theory, be forced to step down from cases related to the January 6 Capitol riots.

In a guest essay for the New York Times on Wednesday, Raskin detailed ways Thomas and Alito could be forced to recuse themselves from the upcoming Trump v. United States and Fischer v. United States, both involving former President Trump's role during the Capitol protests.

"Of course, Justices Alito and Thomas could choose to recuse themselves — wouldn’t that be nice? But begging them to do the right thing misses a far more effective course of action," Raskin wrote.

Alito and Thomas, both nominated by Republican presidents and part of the Supreme Court's conservative wing, have come under fire from Democrats and mainstream media in recent months over claims that they cannot objectively rule on matters around Jan. 6.

How can anyone watch the actions of the democrat judge in ny, and then turn around and ask conservative judges to recuse themselves?

Where do these idiots come from?

From the Communist Party or some iteration thereof. They do not recognize our Constitution, so separation of powers is lost on them. In their world, they are the power. Period. And we all must bow down to their dictates. To which I respond with highly colorful language.

“Have none of these people ever heard of the separation of powers?”

They have, but it doesn’t matter. What they did to Trump was totally outside the law. They even could find/create crimes and put them on trial, too.

Raskin is a Marxist. His thinking that the DOJ can somehow force a justice to recuse would be unconstitutional. Then again, when have Marxists/democrats adhered to the Constitution or any law they dislike for that matter.

Under the Constitution, the DOJ has no power over the court or its members - period!

Democrats and mainstream media in recent months over claims that they cannot objectively rule on matters around Jan. 6.

Indeed, conservatives are extremely biased toward finding out the actual truth of what happened. Can't have that kind of bias....

I just have to say, “Bullspit!”

Have none of these people ever heard of the separation of powers?

The executive branch cannot force the judicial branch to neuter itself.

Where do these idiots come from?
———————————————————————————————————————————

Not to be rude but have you not been paying attention to current events?

The Democrat Party (and their allies including accomplices within the Republican Party) are COMMUNISTS!!!! They DO NOT CARE about the “Constitution” or the laws in place. They will stop at nothing until they have ABSOLUTE POWER! They will NEVER stop until someone stops them! The Right hasn’t fully come to grips with this predicament much less begun to prepare to do anything about it! The Republicans are still drafting strongly worded “letters” asking for explanations….unbelievable! For God’s Sakes…..WAKE UP! 🤦‍♂️🤔🤨

Hillary Clinton was celebrating and extremely happy, but she should be more worried about this than anyone..If Trump gets elected and the DOJ cleaned up, then she might be the first ‘rebuttal witness’.

I’m sure this “standard” would apply to any Supreme Court justice, regardless of affiliation, if they have a public or even private opinion on an issue before them..?

Shouldn’t there be some way to prosecute Raskin for leaving out exculpatory evidence in the J6 Committee’s report?

Hakeem was on the same side at Ratskin, but Fox News seems to want to show him in a better light.
